  • "Well maintained fully equipped bungalow within estate of similar style properties."

10 minutes walk to beach and less to train station to St Ives Lounge suite could do with updating but all other furnishings throughout in excellent order. Rear garden needs two proper full size gates to advertise as secure. Our husky collie cross couldn’t be let out without supervision. Everything else just perfect

Thank you for your review, I am glad you had an enjoyable stay. Thank you for bringing your feedback to us regarding the enclosed rear garden. The courtyard gates are of standard height so for most pets this should be suitable however, if guests do have larger escape artist dogs it may be best to keep an eye on them during your stay! • "We had fabulous holidays in the ‘Secret beach’ home, which is very well located in a very nice neighbourhood with only a few minutes walk down to the train station and the beach."

It is a very nice and spacious home with the 3 bedrooms. We find it very comfortable and clean, the park situation right in front of the house is great, the beds were good and we were happy with the well equipped kitchen. The floor ground is great and shiny, but can be slippy, if it’s a bit wet, so you would need to be careful. The indoor doors clatter (we found it extrem when it was a bit windy outside), this was a bit annoying in the night, when it’s quiet.

  • "The property was perfect for a staycation."

Its locations is central and only a short work from the Carbis bay hotel, 5 min drive to Tesco and a 10 min drive to St Ives. We had a wedding at the Carbis bay hotel so it was nice to only have a short walk to and from and from the beach. Just be mindful of the steep hill…… The property had anything and everything. I was very impressed by the amount of beach toys in the garage, a very nice touch. I would. Definitely recommend the property for a family. Just a small note for anyone thinking of booking. We did read the comments about the property looking tired and need of TLC but it is definitely a 5 star.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to see that the property was perfect and of our usual 5 star high standards. We hope to welcome you back again in the near future. Kind regards, Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

  • "The location and bungalow are great but there are a lot of issues that need to be checked and rectified."

The drains were terrible, had to put bleach down every day. Blinds broken in two bedrooms. Sofa needs replacing. Mattresses need replacing. Small window in lounge broken, would not lock, security issue. Property needs reviewing as not upto standard for a five star which states it is in the folder. Hopefully these issues will be addressed and sorted for the rest of the guests that are going to Secret Beach this year.

We thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback and comments following your stay at Secret Beach. We are sorry to hear you have come across a couple of issues during your stay. I am pleased to inform you that these issues have all been rectified now. With regards to the mattresses and sofa we note that this is very much down to personal preference and we will leave this up to the owners consideration. We want to apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope you still had overall a nice time at Secret Beach. With Kind Regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team Property Owner

  • "We have being staying with Carbis Bay holidays for a significant amount of years, and this is the first time that we feel we have cause to complain."

Photographs and property description are somewhat misleading, especially the ones showing the tables outside, as they face directly on to a road, with no privacy. The small courtyard at the rear was in a untidy state with most of the flower containers having dead flowers and weeds in them. When we arrived the lawn was totally overgrown and the borders needed weeding and a general tidy up. Other points to note:- Toilet roll holders in un-appropriate positions, one of which my husband had to fix. Toilet seat in main bathroom was loose and rotated when you sat on it. One of the oven shelves had brown stuff dried on it and looked like it would drip if warmed up. I noticed the gravy boat in the bottom drawn had brown splashes up one side. The sofa and cushions had seen better days, and one of the remotes looked like it had been chewed. On a safety note I felt the bannister going to the utility area should have been on the left hand side and not the right. Also steps, leading up to property need a hand rail at the beginning. We hope you find these observations constructive, as we wouldn't want other guests to have the same disappointment as we had.

  • "We found the property to be very clean and well equipped, however there were a few things we would like to mention."

We found the L shaped sofa to be exceptionally uncomfortable - the seats are far too deep (even for 6' tall husband) and there is no support at the back, just loose cushions. Also (as noted by other reviewers) in the en-suite bedroom there is no way to get any ventilation into the room without having one of its external doors open, which is not advisable/secure in a ground floor bedroom at night! We think it would probably be quite unpleasant to stay there during a hot summer night with no ventilation into the room. It would be better to have one of the doors as a "tilt and turn" door so that it could be opened safely for night ventilation. We were also unable to open the small fanlight window in the twin bedroom. Not sure whether it was just stiff or was locked?

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave Feedback following your recent holiday at Secret Beach and we do hope you enjoyed your stay in Carbis Bay. We are very sorry to hear you did not find the sofa very comfortable, we will pass this on to the property owners for their consideration. We will also advise them of your recommendation regarding the doors in the bedroom. We have asked the Housekeeper that looks after Secret Beach to check the window that you could not open. We do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future. Kind regards, The Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

  • "Another great stay at secret Beach thank you."

My only minor criticisms are that the zip & link bed in the second bedroom is starting to sag on the outside edges and so it slopes very slightly downhill (only really noticeable when you’re lying in it). Having Sky TV is great but we were unable to watch many shows (dramas, comedies etc) before 9pm as a PIN is required for anything other than child-friendly shows. It would also be nice to have the garden gates positioned differently to create a fully enclosed area for the dog to access from the house rather than us having to take him out the house and through the existing gates - not ideal at 6am in the rain! These are however very minor points. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Secret Beach. The house is very comfortable and very well equipped. We’ll definitely be back!

Thank you so much for your positive feedback, we are thrilled to hear that you had such a lovely stay. Unfortunately, due to the TV having Sky this does mean that you cannot watch any 12+ films/programmes before 9pm. We are unable to give the pin as this would mean all guests would have access to the owners private account where items can be purchased. We hope you understand this, thank you again for all your valued comments, they have made their way to the necessary departments. We hope to welcome you back in the future. We noticed that other reviews had mentioned sofas being uncomfy...we loved them! They were great for lounging in front of a movie when it was pouring with rain. It was a surprise for my husband's birthday, and the three days were offered at reduced rate, so it was within my budget, even though it was just us two in a house for six. We love space though, so he was very pleased. The disappointment was the advertised sea views, which were part of the draw for me, but sadly its only a small view between houses. I'm ok with this, but after promising him sea views he was disappointed. However, the house was just beautiful, and spotless, and well equipped. It was also very cosy, as weather turned chilly. I'm someone who doesn't usually comment on issues, but note from visitor book that more than one have remarked on the sofa needing update. Might just agree!!

  • "The bungalow was very nice, but the dog friendly garden didn't meet expectations, because the largest part of the garden didn't have secure fencing or gates, the only secure area was the small courtyard."

There was a few other niggles, the spring on the dishwasher door was broke causing a few bumps and bruises, handle on the door down to the utility room kept coming off, the driveway only room for one car, so other car parked in road, causing issues with neighbours. The dog friendly beach was a car trip away, the main beach was a 10 to 12 minutes walk downhill but walking back was a nightmare, 20 to 25 minutes up a very steep hill. We did enjoy ourselves, it is a lovely area, but I think the description needs changing. You need to be fairly fit to get about.

Dear Barry, Firstly, we would like to thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback. We do apologise you didn't find the garden secure; the property is listed as pet friendly, we cannot guarantee the property as secure. The owner has looked at the listing and made some slight alterations but does feel the pictures of the garden do show how open it is. In regard to the parking, we have now updated the listing to state that it has space for just 1 vehicle. The local beaches have various restrictions regarding dogs which are listed on the Cornwall Council website which can always assist in the future to gauge the distance. We are very lucky to have such a beautiful selection of beaches on the doorstep, so hopefully the stroll up and down to the property was worth it. Kindest Regards, Carbis Bay Holidays Property Owner
