  • "A wonderful place to stay with panoramic views of the sea and St Ives."

An excellent twice an hour £1 train ride from Carbis Bay to St Ives. The station is just a short 5 min walk from the apartment via the coastal path at the bottom of the garden. Easy drive to St Michaels Mount and also the Seal Sanctuary near the Lizard. The apartment had all the facilities you could want, including a Tassimo coffee maker!

It is spacious and has everything you need. There is also that 7ft by 8ft window with the world's best view. The builders didn't cause us a moment's bother btw.

We are so pleased to read such brilliant feedback after your stay at Island View and are glad to hear you experienced the true beauty of the property. The extensive views that Island View offers are magnificent and we, alongside the owners are fortunate to be able to provide this to our guests. • "One star was deducted because of the daytime noise levels from two adjacent properties."

It's not the owner's fault, and we were forewarned, but it invariably spoils the experience somewhat. Also, getting the radiators to a comfortable level was hard work; they were either off (too cold) for days 1-2, and when the weather warmed up, changing the schedule required much delving into the settings. Leaving by 9 a.m. is not an issue for us, but it may well be an issue for people with a young family. Most properties have a 10am cut-off.

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave feedback after your stay at Island View. We are sorry to hear that you had difficulty with the radiators in the property. We provide a Quick Start Guide for general information in the property to assist our guests during their stay, therefore, we can look to provide additional information. We would like to assure you that the check out time for our properties is always 10am and we are sorry to hear you were under the impression that this was 9am. We do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Island View in the near future. Best Wishes, The Team at Carbis Bay Holidays. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful well equipped apartment with stunning views."

... I was disappointed that I had asked for the twin bedded room to be made into the king size bed - this had not been done and the single I chose to sleep in was uncomfortable - and why do the quilt covers not fit ? The parking is very tight and more reference should be made to this as the workmen at the adjoining property also have a porta cabin on the road virtually opposite the parking area making it extra difficult - apart from noise first thing the builders did not bother us as we went out all day every day ...it is difficult to see to the right when pulling out of the parking spaces ... The apartment is well situated for the train station but there is a steep road down to Carbis Bay Beach - we found a handy gate at the end of the garden giving access to a coastal path - this cuts out a bit of the hill !

Dear Joanne Thank for your review which we take on board and if within our power act on. We appreciate your compliment regarding our beautifully well equipped apartment with stunning views. This means a lot to us. On investigation sadly Sykes having received your WhatsApp regarding the bed configuration did not pass this message to Carbis Bay Holidays or our housekeeper we can only apologise. All our beds were new in March this year and there have been no complaints however I understand this can be a personal preference thing. Parking is always a premium in Carbis Bay and St Ives it usually works well thanks to everyone’s goodwill at the four flats. The portacabin used by the workmen next door will removed by end of February 25 when hopefully the work is completed. Our season starts again March 25 It is stated on the website about the building work hence the discount offered. All in all we hope you had a nice holiday and this reply answers a few of your questions and you enjoy many future holidays in Cornwall With regards Sharon (owner) Property Owner

  • "The property is lovely."

Just two points that let it down. We did not sleep properly for the time we stayed because the bed in the main bedroom was very uncomfortable. It was a metal frame bed and Every time you turned over the bed made loud creaking noises and the mattress was very uncomfortable. I could feel the springs through the mattress. Secondly the parking spaces are very tight and if you have a larger car like us they are quite hard to manoeuvre into. Thankfully during our stay the other resident cars were small but it was still difficult to get out if a car was parked next to you. If everyone else staying had a large car I am not sure how we would have parked and as I have a disability this would have been an issue. I think you need to make it clearer that the parking spaces are quite tight if you have a large car. Other than that everything about the property was fantastic and if the bed had been comfortable would make it 5 stars.

Thank you for your Feedback following your recent holiday at Island View and good to hear everything was fantastic other than the points you raised, the owners wanted us to let you know that they have recently replaced all of their beds. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future. Best Wishes The Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

  • "This was the second time we had stayed at Island View."

The property is fantastic although on this occasion we do have one to two slightly negative comments to make. First, there were visible signs on damp on the outside wall of the twin room and one night as a result of very heavy rain water managed to seep through the wall (presumably where there is a hole in the pebble dash exterior wall) and leave a puddle on the bedroom floor. Secondly, the reception for the television in the lounge was very poor and if we wanted to watch anything we had to move to the bedrooms. Finally, it was disappointing to find some pieces of tableware with small traces of food on them presumably where they had not been washed properly before our arrival. However, having said that, on the whole the property is well equipped and comfortable. The views from the large lounge window are amazing and the the location of the property is fantastic. It is a great place to come back to and relax after spending a day walking the coastal paths and exploring the local area. We would certainly consider making yet another return booking if the damp issue is resolved.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback to us. We have reported this to our property team to investigate and we will pass on our findings to the owners. Please be aware the points our guests raise are always looked into and we hope to get this resolved for future guests when the property is back available from the Spring of 2022. Once again apologise for the inconvenience caused, and we hope to be able to invite you back in the near future. Kind regards, Chaela Owner Relations, Carbis Bay Holidays Property Owner

This was reported to Sykes/CBH on 28th August with a case reference number provided but the provision of additional beach towels was not resolved prior to departure on 4th September. The website photographs need updating as the black patio set has been removed from the property but is still shown on the website

Dear David, Thank you very much for your feedback, I am so sorry that you did not receive your beach towels. The patio furniture was unfortunately broken during the previous week and therefore removed for safety purposes but since a replacement has arrived - I am sorry it did not arrive in time for your stay. • "Having seen the great reviews for this property we were keen to book and stay at Island View."

Our stay, however, was very disappointing. Upon our arrival we found that the apartment had been poorly cleaned, with grime on the floor, dusty surfaces and smeared crockery and utensils. The bed linen and towels were also stained. The apartment was also not as shown on the website. The shared garden furniture was dilapidated and dirty and, in fact, after we complained, it was mysteriously removed during our holiday! Overall, we were shocked by the wide range of issues found especially as this was a top-rated Visit England property. When we complained to Carbis Bay Holidays about the overall state of the apartment we were extremely disappointed in their response. We have holidayed in St Ives for close on 15 years and have never experienced a situation like this and have never been forced to write this kind of review. However, we are extremely disappointed at both the state of the apartment and Carbis Bay Holidays’ response to our genuine distress, and doubt we will use Carbis Bay Holidays again when we return to Cornwall. To sum up, please beware this apartment if, like us, you think it looks an ideal holiday home!

  • ""We loved our Easter holiday at Island View."

The location is excellent, being a short walk to both the beach and the train station. But the best part is probably the amazing view from the huge picture window! This is enjoyed from the kitchen-lounge-diner. The availability of the garden is no doubt great in the summer (a bit chilly this Easter, but great to be able to jump down to the coastal path from the back-gate). The standard of facilities is also good. Would love to return."

  • "High quality apartment that is great for rest and relaxation."

The previous reviews paint a better picture of the apartment and its vast range of facilities than I can . The ease of access to the coastal path, the stunning ocean views and proximity to the train station were all as described and the apartment met every expectation from the publicity photographs. There are ongoing demolition/re-building works on the plot next door but during my stay 14/7/2017 to 21/7/2017 there was little activity and little disturbance but that could well change as the building works get underway. If your mobility isn't great and steps are a challenge to you I would recommend that you seek further advice in relation to the stepped access from the car parking area off Headland Road and the stepped access from the apartment to the coastal path

The apartment was spotlessly clean with very modern technology throughout and has been decorated beautifully. The apartment also has a large patio area that looks out over the view, a beautiful garden and direct access onto the coastal footpath which is ideal for people who enjoy exploring and walking. Another bonus of this apartment is that it's a few minutes walk to the train station which takes you straight into St Ives and a short walk to Carbis Bay beach and the surrounding restaurants. The property had been very tastefully refurbished and has a spectacular view across the bay and towards St Ives. We visited with our son and his fiancée and the apartment was more than adequately furnished for four adults, with en suite and main bathroom. Everything was very high standard and catered for all our needs. Sit in the window seat and gaze out across the fantastic vista, watching the sea change colour and the lights of St Ives at night. The train station is an easy 5 minute walk away and the Coastal Path runs at the bottom of the garden for a steady and beautiful walk to St Ives or a longer walk all along the coast to Hayle. We definitely hope to return soon."
