  • "Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Lanyon and would love to stay again in the future."

The property is stunning, very spacious with outstanding views. The location is also perfect- easy walking distance to wonderful beaches, shops/cafes and train line into St. Ives. It was clean and tidy with great living space to unwind after our busy days. There were a few minor issues which didn’t detract from our overall enjoyment but would make the property even better, these include: updating the bathrooms and having a minimum of 2 showers. Also getting rid of the post in the driveway as it restricts manoeuvrability for larger cars. Thank you so much for hosting us.

Thank you for your kind review, It is great to hear that you enjoyed your holiday with us and we appreciate your feedback, we can certainly take a look into your suggestions. - Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

  • "No light in the downstairs shower room ."

I am disabled and found using it even with a torch balanced on the loo very uncomfortable. Toilet seats are broken and swivel . Mattresses too soft . Kitchen good except -no microwave - really big omission . Sofas /chairs in lounge look good but are hard and uncomfortable - general decor in lounge is wierd - painting of a man having his throat slit ? We found dog poo on the lawn - previous guests no doubt but still bad news for kiddies . The drive has a concrete post probably old gate - but i nearly reversed into it a couple of times -drive is tight for three cars and we had to keep reversing in and out to let the other guests out .

We appreciate you taking the time to give us feedback after your stay. We are pleased to inform you that the light in the downstairs showerroom and the toilet seats have now all been fixed. We shall look into the points you have raised for future improvements. Warm regards Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

  • "This property needs a lot of updating."

The bathroom and shower room were very dated and not particularly clean, there was a lot of hair in the shower room ( disgusting)No microwave and the toaster was absolute rubbish. Two chairs in the garden were broken so only 4 chairs for an 8 person house, the hot tub took ages to heat and we spent a lot of money on logs, kindling and firelighters. One shower for a 8 persons house , really??? The beds were nice, the towels were lovely and the kitchen fully equipped., other than the above. The view was amazing but the grass needed a good cut and the garden needed tending. The previous occupiers left loads of rubbish in all the bins which meant we had nowhere to put ours. We would not return to this property.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback we are looking into the points you have raised for future improvements. We hope you will reconsider and return again in the near future. Warm regards, Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner

  • "We loved the property’s location & layout, the weather was amazing and we found the house comfortable, slight gripes no microwave, toaster useless & the beds way too soft for us."

The only major let down was cleanliness, id describe this properly as surface cleaned at best, on arrival the downstairs shower room was filthy! The toilet had not been cleaned properly and the floor was thick in hair, we pushed the twin beds together and underneath was grim, this is a real let down, I had to go out buy cleaning products and clean, which I definitely would not expect to do, who ever Is responsible for this job needs a lesson in cleaning because it’s a real let down to such a lovely place. We enjoyed our stay we would definitely return if the property was deep cleaned, had I have paid the prices in high season then I’d be really annoyed at how dirty places were! The woodwork throughout the house absolutely needs painting which looks tatty and lets the house down.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback after your stay. We are sorry to hear the property wasnt at our usual high standards. We shall look into the points you have raised for future improvements. We can confrim that the Toaster is working as it should. We hope you will consdier rebooking again in the near future. The house overall was adequate, over priced. Bathroom and shower room need updating also the furniture very tired and a strange odour in the dining area.

  • "Great location and view over the Bay, 5 minutes walking distance from the train station with easy access to St Ives."

Before diving into a bit of detail I would like to say my family and I had a lovely holiday at the Lanyon and made some great memories. On booking there were no reviews as it was a new listing at the time so we took a risk and overall we were very happy. The walk to the nearest dog friendly beach takes you down an undulating coast path/track which is challenging, lots of steps and takes about 10 minutes once you cross the train track. But the reward once down on the beach is great, a very nice sandy beach and no restrictions for the dog. We stayed there for several hours on one of our days. Carbis bay is a lovely sandy beach but down a steep road. There is a hotel/bar where you can have a drink or two which was nice. The beach has restriction on the time dogs are allowed, I think 10am-6pm (but pls check) The house is big and spacious, but perhaps could do with some updating in the main bathroom and shower room. All works perfectly fine but just looked a little dated. No TV in three of the bedrooms, but as we were out and about most of the time not too much of an issue. Doors: a few of the interior doors did not open or close easily, you had to apply some force and this created a loud noise each time, not so much of a problem in the day, but at night was just not great. (easily fixed I am sure) The garden is a big space which is great for the dog, but the lawn needs cutting and grass needs some attention. Also need some better quality outside furniture, what is supplied seems very much like an after thought. Also a couple of sun loungers would be great. We liked the idea of the Wood burning hot tub in advance, but there is no wood supplied and the reality once there is it all seemed like a lot of effort. Would strongly recommend installing an electric hot tub in the future, as the view is great. We had two cars, one being a largish 4x4. The driveway to the house had an old cement post to one side of the entrance which was more of a hindrance/hazard and would recommend this be removed. The main sitting room/tv room is a nice large space with comfortable seating and open fire, I would recommend they remove the main painting opposite the TV as it depicts somebody being beheaded!, not great for young kids.. St Ives: Take the rain as parking in St Ives can be problematic, it is one stop on the train. We enjoyed Cintra as a fish/tapas type restaurant overlooking the harbour. Very fresh and tasty. I hope this helps, all in all the house and location worked great for us . (3 adults, 2 children (11 & 14) and a Cockapoo dog)

  • "Comfortable and spacious house with a good garden and lovely views."

Fantastic position close to Porthkidney sands where our dog enjoyed his days immensely. Fairly well appointed although a house at this price point should have a BBQ available for use. Some of the listed facilities (‘outside shower’ and ‘coffee machine’ ) are a bit misleading - hose with sprinkler attachment and cafitiere would be more accurate. Bigger bath towels would be better. All in all though, a nice place to stay.
