  • "Flat was in a great location."

Bedding was very clean. Overall cleanliness of flat wasn’t very good. Very dusty everywhere, bin was very grubby, toilet not very clean. Toaster was awful and needs replacing. Old rusty bike out by front door.

Thank you for your review. Besides the normal cleaning during the changeovers, deep cleaning is carried out frequently so I'm surprised it was found wanting. Wood cutting had been carried out recently nearby, which may explain the dust. Oxidation has formed on the metal at the top of the toaster and is unavoidable. It had been overlooked and has now been dealt with though not entirely removed. Replacing the toaster seems wasteful as it works perfectly. The bin will be replaced soon. The rusty bike was temporary and has since been removed. I would like to thank you for leaving the flat so tidy as it makes it easier for the cleaner to prepare for the next guests. Property Owner

  • "Flat was fine , the location was good close to the coastal path and beach and also the train station."

Carbis Bay has very few amenities but is a nice town .The main issue is the lack of WIFI which I must confess I hadn't realised until just before the holiday. We did have problems with the Hob and did contact the owner during the 2nd week. In summery the property was good and I would have no hesitation about recommending it but with a warning about the lack of WIFI.

Thank you for your candid review. Carbis Bay is a quiet, picturesque region of St Ives with a beautiful beach. It is a great springboard for exploring a range of different more popular, busier surrounding areas. Regarding the hob: the induction hob won't operate if a source pan lid is placed on it (easy to do while cooking) or it is damp or if no pan is placed on it. I am pleased that you managed to use it after our conversation. Many of the local flat owners (my self included) have chosen to avoid wifi in keeping with the 'getting a way from it all' peaceful time. The local Tesco and St Ives library provides free wifi for those who must use it. Property Owner

  • "We feel we can give 3stars due to no hot water on the hand wash basin in the bathroom."

Very comfortable with a nice view from the kitchen window.

We are pleased that you found the apartment comfortable, reflecting recent improvements and modifications and thank you for leaving it so clean. A new electric tap has now been fitted to the bathroom basin. This provides hot water quickly from cold in seconds without the need to run the water for long beforehand. Property Owner

  • "Kitchen window would not close, property insecure owner informed on arrival, not fixed before we left."

Had to leave valuables in our car for our full week stay. Double bed so uncomfortable that we both had back ache.5 previous people left feedback in the comments book on the uncomfortable bed. No washbasin hot tap this is in contravention to Building Regulations. Kitchen sink only produced Luke warm water, had to boil kettle to wash pots. Main bedroom panel heater did not get to work.

The kitchen window lock has a latch on its side. This needed to be released in order for the window to be closed fully. I am sorry you did not notice this. The double-bed base has now been reinforced with inch-thick plywood to support the heaviest of guests. For extra comfort, a new mattress topper has been provided (Panda hydro foam). All heaters function correctly. Each has a small switch on the top right side. I am sorry you did not notice this. The kitchen tap can provide scalding water within seconds if need be. It is an electric tap whereby a decrease in water-flow increases the temperature of the water. I am sorry you did not realise this. It is important to read all the summarised instructions provided so as to avoid disappointment and for safety reasons. These are laminated, illustrated and abridged for easy reading. • "We left 2 days early off our well deserved break which we were really looking forward to, the flat is depressing and the double bed was absolutely dreadful !"

! We don’t want much on holiday but a comfy bed is important as we need to rest ! That’s what holidays are about, I have complained about this flat to you when I got back and heard nothing, I will not be using you again or recommend

I am very sorry that you left early. The double-bed mattress had not been supported adequately for some guests. This has now been rectified. The bed is now super-solid. The mattress (Zen Classic) has a high review rating. In addition, a new mattress topper has been provided (bamboo hydro foam). The guest-book indicates that the flat is very desirable: 'Felt at home as soon as I walked in the door...I', 'Love the crazy wall-coverings', etc. I am happy to discuss any issues with guests directly. However, I received no communication from you. Property Owner

To date you have failed to even acknowledge it much less respond! If I don’t hear from you within the next 7 days I will escalate it via trading standards. You cannot blatantly misled customers with completely false information.

Thank you for your comments, we do apologize but we have not received any emails regarding your stay at Valhalla. Please can these be sent again. Property Owner

  • "Worst accommodation we have ever stayed in."

Dirty bed sheets upon arrival, filthy bathroom and no hot water tap in bathroom.

Thank you for your feedback. We do take feedback comments very seriously. Your comments and scores are very out of character for the property 'I am shocked and very sorry that your holiday experience did not turn out as you wanted. I did everything possible to address your grievances, sending in a cleaner at short notice. My cleaner confirmed that the apartment was already clean, she re-cleaned the whole apartment and replaced all bedding regardless. We are more than happy to help our Customers at any time and want them to have an enjoyable stay at the property. I am sorry this didn't happen on this occasion but we did all we could to help. • "Great flat, AWFUL beds."

All beds have now been fitted with orthopaedic bamboo-covered memory foam mattress toppers. These respond to body temperature to mould to your body’s natural shape, relieving pressure from the neck, shoulders, and back. I can vouch for the reviews for these, which are extremely positive. • "We had a good week there, the apartment was well equipped and looks exactly as photos."

Everything you need in apartment was supplied. Area is nice with good views of the bay and beautiful places to visit. Only issue we had was the double bed was on the small side for two adults - we ended up using the second room single beds as couldn't comfortably both fit in the small double.

Many thanks for your feedback. The 4' double bed has now been changed. The bed is now 4' 6". Six inches makes all the difference. Property Owner
