  • "Lovely little place, for me personally felt a little claustrophobic, lacking in ventilation and natural light."

Security light outside front bedroom with only window in was regularly going on early hrs off the morning and was quite bright, had to put a blanket up over the curtains to block it out. Fair bit of noise from above where running across flooring, flushing off toilet early and late hrs (myself would not flush after 10pm out of consideration), could also actually hear people going toilet, some lovely nearby walks though and friendly residents/holidayers, once across busy stretch across the road it was a short walk down to penzance promenade and town, more practical for someone who drives to be able to go to the shops etc. Was still a welcome break. Thank you.

  • "Nice accomodation in a lovely position, easy walks into Penzance, the coastal paths, Trengwainton garden National Trust and other local paths including a hike to carn euny ancient village/stone circle."

The cream tea welcome was a nice touch and having condiments, oil etc. were all appreciated. The information pack got us started, but we failed to find the additional information referenced - heating/appliances etc. but managed to get the towel rail to work with some fiddling :-) Appreciate the need to keep on top of the moisture in the property, but the constant drone of the extractor was a little intrusive. The bedroom, despite leaving the window on "security lock"(?) all day, still smelt damp. A window stay would have been appreciated on this, similar to the other windows. As others have said reversing back down the driveway isn't for the faint hearted! - but the car hardly got used, thanks to the position of the property. A nice stay, thanks. Ps needed to replace a bathroom lightbulb on arrival, but found the spares.

  • "This is a great property."

It is well designed and a perfect base for walking to Penzance and Newlyn. It is even nicer than the online pictures suggest. The flat was warm and welcoming and the owners, who were away, were contactable on a 'ring' doorbell for our one question. It was really nice there were back before we left so we could tell them how much we enjoyed ourselves. We will be rebooking for next year. Thank you.

  • "Beautifully decorated with all mod cons ."

Great bathroom. Comfortable beds with quality linen. Cosy sitting area. Small dining area , would be quite tight for four adults. The listing doesn't show there is no window or natural light in the second bedroom . However, the room is spacious. There is no outside space to sit , a very narrow hard standing, which would be very difficult for a large car or SUV. The lane is private and narrow with no turning space! The flat is under the owners living accommodation . Personally, I think somewhere to hang wet coats and dirty footwear is more practical and useful than a woodburner especially as the heating was on very high and you're unable to adjust it. ! When the temperature outside rose we were uncomfortably hot. This is a sweet place and great for couple's and walkers! Perfect for summer breaks .

Thank you for your review and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. We are pleased to report that since your stay we have updated the heating instructions. We have also labelled the sockets on the wall that allow the heating to be turned completely off if not required. The second bedroom, while spacious, does not have windows, however many of our guest find this great for children or indeed anyone who enjoys going to bed before it is dark outside. Property Owner

  • "The property was lovely."

Beautiful location, lovely cream tea on arrival. Accommodation was lovely our only complaint really was the timer settings on the heating system. The heating went on too early in the morning for us and we were woken up from being too hot, and it went off too early in the evening so we had to light the fire to stay warm (which was lovely but seemed a waste). Not having the option to control the times we had the heating on and off was the only notable criticism in a otherwise wonderful stay.

Thank you for your review and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay. We are pleased to report that since your stay we have updated the heating instructions. We have also labelled the sockets on the wall that allow the heating to be turned completely off if not required. Property Owner

  • "Lovely ground floor flat situated in a quiet lane close to Polgoon Vineyard just outside of Penzance."

Great location for easy access to Penzance and the Penwith Penninsula. The flat was modern, tastefully decorated with good facilities. Parking is adjacent to the front door and is suitable for 1 large vehicle or two very small vehicles. Access is via a narrow private road. The owners live on site and the flat lis fully maintained by Sykes. We experienced a minor maintainence issue and this was promptly resolved by Skye’s with the owner also following up to ensure “all was well”. We visited just before Christmas and felt the flat was “great value for money”. We would happily rebook at this location.

  • "This property is situated just off the A30 at Penzance towards Lands End,next to the Polgoon vineyard on a track to the Castle Horneck Youth Hostel."

This track is badly maintained with large potholes before turning right onto another track to the property which can only be described as a glorified farm track just wide enough for 1 car.The photos are misleading as the place where the picnic table is situated is where you park the car,and the wooden structure is the owners garden shed which is next to the kitchen window. The property itself was clean and comfortable, but being a basement apartment suffers from condensation meaning you have to open all the windows in the morning or come back to a fusty smelling property, and has a dehumidifier running in one of the bedrooms to try to combat this. The stream at the side of the property and woodland probably doesn’t help with this. This property also has no proper rubbish bins meaning you have to separate all your rubbish into different coloured rubbish sacks and leave them outside.Penzance has excellent transport links with a mainline railway station with the bus station and tourist information next to it.It also has a fantastic promenade with a heated open air swimming pool at one end,or just behind the railway station is a walking/cycling path to Marazion where St Micheal’s mount is.

Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased that you managed to see so many of the great attractions around West Cornwall during your stay. We are please to report that since your visit the weather has allowed us to replace the surface of the lane and road approaching Chydour. We love being next to the river however with this comes moisture in the air. We do all we can to minimise the effect on Chydour, including a dehumidifier. Guest are welcome to turn this off while using the property. Property Owner

  • "The photos didnot show that the appartement was in the basement of the main house."

One bedroom has no windows at all, there is a airfreshener which has to stay on all the time. The television is hanging to high and you have to twist your neck to look at it. We had lovely weather but there was no possibility to sit outside. The view from the high windows is on grasslevel of the mail house. The appartement is close to the town, and it is a great location to visit the south of Cornwall

Thank you for leaving your constructive feedback. Chydour is perfectly described as a ground floor apartment. You are correct that 1 bedroom has no windows, we personally feel this is great for children as you can totally blackout the room. The owner has taken the comments on board in relation to the position of the TV and has lowered this since your visit. The outdoor space is limited and guests do not have access to the owners garden, however a small table and chairs has been carefully positioned to allow for some al fresco time. There are also some lovely woodland surrounding the cottage that guests are free to wander. Property Owner

  • "Hello Whilst the property is of a high standard i."

E comfortable bed, dishwasher, washer dryer, beautiful decor etc we feel that we have to mention a big negative that we encountered on a daily basis during our stay. Although the weather was reasonable the outside single track lane to the property was in a terrible state, having many large and deep potholes and areas of mud. Due to having to reverse out every time we had an excursion we were not happy to navigate deep potholes which we could not avoid hitting (some water filled). Our vehicle suffered inside and out necessitating a valet on our return. We came home 24 hours early as heavy rain was forecast the next day which would have impacted even more on the condition of the single track lane to the property. It should also be noted that the 'sitting out' area is totally shaded and there are quite a few cars and vans going up and down the lane in very close proximity which felt uncomfortable. Anyone unable to reverse their vehicle would struggle to use the parking space allocated next to this property. We feel the photo does not reflect the lane and sitting out area and we have to ask Sykes to review this. Thank you.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you found Chydour and its amenities comfortable and to a high standard. Our rural cottage is in a beautiful woodland location and the recent unseasonal weather has affected the lane up to the property. We are very pleased to report that the surface of the lane is scheduled for full replacement as soon as good weather allows and repairs are regularly made after severe rain in the meantime. • "This was, by far, the nicest bnb we've ever stayed in."

The place was spotless, smelled clean and the beds were comfy. The towels and bedding were good quality, adequate heating was supplied, all kitchen needs were met and there was even a bath! Outside, a stream with little waterfalls rushed past the front door and beautiful trees filled our view with b birds singing all day. The smallest negative is that I felt bad using somebody else's driveway to turn my car around. This comfortable place was good value and was the perfect base for day trips or a walk into Penzance.

Thanks for your feedback, we are so glad you loved Chydour. Property Owner

  • "Had a lovely holiday at Chydour visiting our usual favourite places around Penzance."

The apartment was very clean and comfortable and scones and cream on arrival a nice touch. However it was quite difficult to turn car round in narrow lane outside until kind neighbour said we could use her drive. So I think this should be noted in write up as we only had smallish vehicle. Also somewhere to sit outside of a evening would have been nice.

Thank you for your feedback, we will look into this and review the arrival instructions. We are glad to hear you had a nice stay and hope to see you again soon. Property Owner
