  It was lovely to have the little extras as a small welcome basket and a Christmas tree in the hall which added to our new year experience. Nice little notes left buy the housekeeper gave a more personal touch and the enclosed garden for our little furbaby was a bonus. We will rebooked in the future as we loved are time in your holiday home.

  It is beautifully and thoughtfully presented and provided with a range of useful equipment including tumble dryer, coffee maker, USB charging sockets and a smart TV. The welcome pack continues this trend with the spacious entrance hall providing sufficient room to store our all weather gear with the Christmas tree being a nice touch. Parking is directly at the front of the property. Charlestown itself has a couple of very good pubs both serving excellent food and a few cafe's & other restaurants - all of a very good standard. Will not hesitate to visit again.

  Very good location, easy stroll down to the harbour, pubs, restaurants, and cafes. Sam and Andy are very good. When I unknowingly turned electricity off to the cooker, Andy was there within half an hour to sort out the problem. Would recommend Speedwell for a lovely holiday.

  Great communication from Sam before and during our stay including a bonus early check-in which was much appreciated after our early start. Lots of lovely touches including a really delicious Welcome Pack Filled with Cornish delights. The cottage is tucked away just a stones throw from the harbour yet in a peaceful location Speedwell really is a gem. Spacious inside, spotlessly clean and well appointed throughout. There's parking on the lane outside which is an added bonus. The small courtyard garden outside was a lovely suntrap and very private. Charlestown is a lovely village with lots of fantastic places to eat and drink. We would definitely recommend and will definitely return.

  This was our 5th time in Charlestown usually stay at the Rashleigh Arms, but now we've found speedwell will not hesitate to stay again. Lots of restaurants to choose from if you want good food or just a drink. Why go anywhere else.

  One hundred yards to a delightful fish restaurant, Two minutes walk to the beach and three minutes to the local pub / restaurant serving great food. We loved our stay here and found it very relaxing, warm and cosy. We would highly recommend it.

• "This is our third visit to Speedwell and we have already booked for next year."

  The property is in an excellent position close to the harbour in Charlestown. Parking outside is easy and convenient. The welcome basket with scones cream saffron buns and biscuits is excellent and last two or three days. The house is extremely well fitted out and provides everything we needed for a relaxed holiday. Since our last visit the courtyard garden has been upgraded and is a lovely place to catch the sun all through the day. A 10/10 Sykes holiday let.

  Level walk to the Harbour, The Rashleigh & The Pierhouse. Short & Strong is on the corner as well as The Longstore. Many others are 3 minutes walk away. Speedwell is a very comfortable residence and fully equipped for everyday items if you cook at home. Should you encounter a problem during your stay Andy (the Caretaker) ? is a very useful guy to have around and I award him 5 Stars. We were very taken by this property that whilst there had booked next year. and certainly looking forward to 2024.

• "Positives - First class location near the sea and all restaurants, the cottage was squeaky clean."

  Negatives - Whilst the cottage is a five person bed house there is only enough seating for four. The welcome package was lovely but a worth a mention in the particulars would be appreciated. My only gripe was the guest double bed mattress which was uncomfortable. Some of the crockery needs replacing. Other than that can highly recommend to everyone.

  Thank you for your feedback and sorry that there were some negative aspects to your stay at Speedwell. The property is only listed and advertised as a four-person holiday let with the addition of a fifth bed included just to give a four-person holiday group some additional flexibility. Charlestown is a perfect spot for eating out 'the best of Cornwall' fantastic places on the quay to sample local fish. We did of course have the best weather, sunny for a whole week which did help !!

• "A beautiful cottage in a lovely quiet spot."

  The cottage itself is bright, airy and spacious. A beautiful large hallway and staircase, a really good sized and well equipped kitchen and three decent sized bedrooms with an en suite to the master bedroom. Unusually for me, I slept incredibly well throughout the entire stay. Out the back is a beautiful patio, with a stream trickling by, just beyond the fence. The property is well maintained, with a helpful caretaker nearby, I have to say that the property was absolutely spotless throughout, a rare luxury perhaps. The welcome basket, including milk, cream tea components, bread and coffee pods was a really nice touch and very welcome. Parking is conveniently just outside the property. All in all a perfect base for a holiday.

  We had everything we needed for a perfect holiday in Charlestown. The welcome basket was an additional bonus (cream tea, coffee, tea bags, bread, wine). The garden is a sun trap and sheltered from the wind so we were able to sit outside in the late afternoon. Speedwell is perfect for a Cornish holiday and we would recommend it to anyone who asked.

  We’ve stayed in a few cottages in this location and this was definitely the best. Arrival pack was a lovely unexpected addition. Really easy to self cater as there is literally everything you need. Very clean, well presented. Perfect for the dog with the enclosed garden. Even the recycling was made easy. Great location - we’ll definitely be back.

• "We found Speedwell to be a comfortable house - we quickly felt at home."

  We would recommend this house to anyone. The location is great and fantastic for a holiday. It would have been 5 Stars all the way if it were not for a couple of niggles. Firstly, we asked to bring items - when they are already there eg. tea towels, hand gels etc. The wifi in the house is strong and useful but the television is old and not able to display modern apps like Netflix or Amazon Prime and a freeview recorder would not go amiss. I know that watching TV is a secondary event but there are times when it is watched Lastly, the two armchairs are starting to lose their 'bounce'. These 'niggles' should not put anyone off as this is a lovely clean property and a credit to those who look after it.

  We had a text message from Andy the caretaker to let us know cottage was ready. Cottage was absolutely immaculate clean comfortable full size fridge and three draw freezer and every type of kitchen utensil you can think of, and a very welcome cream tea hamper, Charlestown is very popular location for filming and there was a German film company filming while we were there. The cottage is within 1-5 min walk to all restaurants and cafes, shipwreck museum. I would not hesitate to book this cottage again.

  It is simply ideal for a holiday vacation in Cornwall, and is situated perfectly for one to take advantage of the many interesting and memorable local attractions. We were ready to book again for the same period in July 2022, however were disappointed to note the price has increased from £1049 (2021) to £1740 (advertised July 2022). With regret, my family and I could not justify returning to this lovely cottage based on this price increase, and have made the decision to base ourselves elsewhere for our next Cornish adventure.

• "Shower in master bedroom isn’t enclosed so found water ended up on bathroom and would’ve stayed wet for most of day if we didn’t wipe it up."

• "The cottage is central to the village, set in a quiet no through road so was peaceful but ideally situated for pubs, bars and restaurants."

  The parking is conveniently directly outside the premises. There is plenty of room for a family; although we were two plus dog we could appreciate the space. There is a lovely little back courtyard which in May had the sun for a large part of the day. I imagine in high summer it is a wonderful suntrap! The cottage itself is well furnished with comfortable beds and settee/chairs and has great storage space both inside and out. The only thing I'd change is the addition of shelving in the two bathrooms as there is nowhere to put toiletries and makeup. We will definitely look to book there again.

• "Speedwell cottage was beautifully clean and perfect for our holiday and the welcome basket a lovely addition."

  It is situated right in the middle of the village extremely close to the harbour, beaches and all its amenities, which is great for young children or those unable to walk long distances as it is all on the same level. The cottage has a downstairs cloakroom/WC which is not included on the description but was an appreciated addition. The caretaker Andy was brilliant, he called beforehand so we had a contact number, which we did have to use as we were not sure how to turn the radiator on in the en-suite, he quickly came around and assisted us. There were cushions for the chairs in the back garden stored in the shed, unfortunately we only discovered this on the last day so were not able to make use of them.

  Immaculately clean. Comfortable beds. Brilliant WiFi ( important to us!) Excellent location. Charlestown is utterly charming and it is central to many places on the south coast of Cornwall. BUT it Is essential to book restaurants as on arrival on the Saturday everything was full and we got takeaway fish and chips! Do call into Wreckers Deli. Garlic Wrapped Cornish Yarg cheese is divine. Their pasties are lovely too.

• "Unfortunately we were not told that builders were working next door so all day starting at 8 am kango hammers were going."

  We could not sit out in the courtyard garden the noise was deafening. Infact it made the hole house shake and items were falling of the shelves. If we new there were to be building work being carried out we would of not booked the cottage. I have two boys aged 4 and 7 and they were woken up every morning by the noise. Completely unacceptable.   Beautiful cottage. The only thing we were abit disapointed in was the cleanliness. Cobwebs hanging above bed which i got rid of and the oven and hob were very dirty.   I believe access would be a challenge for people with mobility issues, as there are stairs and a slippy floor in the downstairs hall. This needs a different surface. The equipment levels are good, however there are some niggling issues with the tiolet banging when flushed and the cooker fan that did not work. Really enjoyed my stay at this cottage and would use cornish cottage holidays again without a doubt

• "Really lovely cottage in a fantastic location."

  Easy parking outside. Cottage so clean and tidy. Lovely bathrooms. Kitchen so well equipped: Really loved our time in Charlestown we were really lucky with the weather, the back garden is a little sun trap so some loungers would have been nice. There was a great washing machine but no washing line which was odd. There is a tumble dryer but not everything is suitable for a dryer. Overall wonderful and we wouldn’t hesitate to return.

• "Speedwell is a fab cottage in a fab location."

  Andy the housekeeper was very freindy and keeps the place in great shape. Parking outside the cottage is essential in Charlestown as otherwise you would pay a fortune. Only a short stroll to the harbour with a couple of pubs/bars/restaurants which is all you need locally and plenty of choice only short distances away. We spend most of our time on Porthpean beach which our 6yr old loved but again you are spoiled for choice if we wanted to stop around. Also plenty of rainy day options so we'll definitely be returning.

• "A lovely cottage in a great location."

  On the minus side no hairdryer and my partner found the latex mattress on the king size bed uncomfortable. It was fine for me! Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and found it very relaxing. We would go back to that cottage.

  It's clean, comfortable and really homely. Charlestown is a great base for a holiday in Cornwall with great local pubs, coffee shops and restaurants and lovely beaches and walks from the harbour. We will definitely be back.

• "This cottage is fabulous!"

  It is warm and clean and has everything you can think of that you might need. The new ensuite is lovely. It is a real home from home. The welcome basket was a great treat, thank you! It has its own parking space and it is just a couple of minutes to the beach and restaurants. We all really enjoyed our stay here and have booked again for next year. Definitely worth a stay.
