  • "Mixed reviews after a weeks stay."

Initial problem was absolutely nowhere to park, double yellow lines outside and spaces across were taken up by local residents so difficult to unload luggage etc. I wasn't too keen on leaving my car parked 2 streets away so we opted with St Erbyns carpark at £16 for 7 days, about 5 mins walk away. No problems and plenty of room. Inside the property it was definitely in need of redecoration ie painting and a good clean, stair carpet loose and very dirty, drain blocked and shower drain blocked, tissues under bed from previous guests and patio area overgrown with weeds. However after spending 2 days trying to sort it with Sykes we eventually got in touch with the owner who was very friendly and apologetic and sorted the immediate issues the very same day! Excellent customer service. He wasn't aware of the issues so he noted everything and assured us he was visiting the property ASAP to sort them. He made sure our holiday wasn't affected. The positives!! the rustic theme of the house, beautiful wood floors in the living area, a 5 mins walk to Penzance town, 15 mins walk to seafront, bedrooms were well appointed and comfortable with clean sheets and towels. Once the issues mentioned above are addressed this we would then recommend this cottage for your holiday.

  • "Our stay at the cottage was a one of mixed views."

It did appear nice but looking closely you could see the photos were done quite a while ago. It was in need of some painting particularly downstairs and especially the stair handrail which was quite grubby. Also, the staircase carpet on one stair was exposing the gripper rod nails which was a hazard. The fridge had a unpleasant odour and was set to maximum which turned any drink or food semi frozen and bizarrely the boiler was switched off so if you wanted a bath or a shave or just wash up you couldn’t (there is a ‘good’ electric shower which heats independently). We contacted Sykes cottages straight away who took two and bit days to respond (after 2 messages) with a silly response of asking if it was resolved when it was clear it wasn’t as that was the first response to our messages. We were also looking forward to sitting in the courtyard garden in the morning with a coffee but it was unkept and weedy (nothing like the photos online). So all in all not great and wish I could upload photos to this review. Location to station is close enough although hilly so that would be something to advise people of and Penzance itself is a little run down. Having said that it has great transport links (train and bus) to the highly recommended St Ives and Mousehole.

Hi Vikki, Thank you for feedback and really sorry to hear you wasn't fully satisfied. We've just ordered a new fridge and we will be addressing the other issues raised. The boiler should have been left on so not sure why it was turned off. I'm glad you enjoyed the area and hope you had a safe journey home. Many thanks 11 Belgravia Property Owner

  • "Lovely home!"

Very comfy beds and sofas and had everything we would have expected in the kitchen, etc. We enjoyed the two jigsaw puzzles, too, and the books and bus time table were especially helpful. My partner (6'3") hit his head 3 different times on the bathroom doorframe so that made him cross, but I (5'3") had absolutely no complaints!

Hi Rebecca, Thank you very much for your feedback and glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. Hope you partners head isn't head too soar! And hope to see you guys again in the future. All the best 11 Belgravia Property Owner

PENZANCE

St Ives 8 miles. Helicopter to Isles of Scilly - 30 minutes

Penzance hosts Golowan, the Midsummer Carnival, and The Literary Festival. There are also The Exchange, Newlyn and Penlee Art Galleries. One of Cornwall’s most popular holiday areas is the spectacular sweep of Mount’s Bay, from the cliffside fishing village of Mousehole through Penzance and around to beautiful Marazion, the coastline hides a wealth of sandy beaches, rocky coves as well as winding village streets and other places to visit and explore. Connected by a causeway to the shore at Marazion is the National Trust’s stunningly beautiful St Michael’s Mount with its hilltop castle and Mediterranean gardens. Walk across at low water and take one of the ferry boats back when the tide is up. Penzance with its winding streets, shops, clubs, restaurants and harbour is a must as it is the jumping-off point for day trips to the Isles of Scilly as well as being the harbour. The South West Coast Path passing through Penzance winds its way along the clifftops towards Land’s End. On the way, stop off for a coffee and a rest at beautiful Lamorna Cove, explore the open air Minack Theatre and marvel at the cliffs as you approach Gwennap Head. A stunning walk for those seeking solitude, exercise and some of the UK’s best coastal scenery. Penzance is the perfect holiday base. Ideally placed for exploring this land of Celtic myth and legend and with enough to do and see in the immediate area to keep all the family occupied.
