• "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage with fabulous gardens in an excellent location ."

  Shirley and Chris were admirable hosts. We only had to mention that my wife was worried about slipping in the shower than Shirley said she would get a non-slip mat ASAP. And it was delivered within 24 hours. We could not have asked for more and, small matter that it may appear to be, it made our holiday much more comfortable and relaxed. Overall, an excellent property.

• "We found the Summer House very cosy and warm and the cleanliness was excellent - all the things you look for with a holiday cottage."

Even though it was Winter the gardens still looked great and we can only imagine how glorious they would be in Summer. • "A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location."

  Very well equipped with everything you need for a stay away from home. Shirley & Chris have created a wonderful setting with their gardens full of plants sculptures and a well stocked pond to relax as you wander around. The cottage was within easy reach( short drive) of the attractions that West Cornwall has to offer , we particularly enjoyed Marazion and St Michael's Mount a very relaxed peaceful break just what we required.

  Shirley and Chris have provided everything you could need for a week (or longer.) The lovely new bed was a treat. Use of the Homestead Woodland Gardens keeps us coming back for more - reading in the refurbished Garden Hideaway was so relaxing. The homegrown flowers and local cider and apple juice were very welcoming. Thank you for another outstanding holiday.

• "The Summer House was in a lovely setting with its own private garden and access to the beautiful larger gardens provided and maintained by the owners."

  The descriptions on line do not do it justice. We could have just sat in the gardens for hours soaking in the tranquility and beauty . We were made to feel very welcome by the owners , Chris and Shirley, and we would say this is one of the best places we have ever stayed at, spotlessly clean with everything we needed. The cottage is well positioned for a holiday with excellent walks from Helston, and a number of tourist destinations, beaches, gardens, NT and English Heritage properties. Within a short travelling distance. A week was not really long enough to appreciate both cottage and the location Thank you

  A little piece of paradise in a wonderful setting, we enjoyed the tranquility so much we didn’t want to leave. The gardens are of an exceptional standard and considered to be one of the best private gardens in Cornwall by yours truly. An abundance of different species and lots of interesting features in the wildlife gardens & woodland area. Anyone into ornithology would be in their element as the birdsong is beautiful. Seriously do not hesitate to stay at this wonderful location as it’s so very tranquil. Lots of things to do in the surrounding areas as it’s a great base for sightseeing.   We would heartily recommend this wonderful place to stay to any couple, young, middle aged and older. Shirley is so kind and thoughtful, nothing is too much trouble. The Summer House is so well located and you can easily reach every wonderful place of interest, tourist spot or not. • "This Cottage was delightful, well appointed and well provisioned."

  The location was great for accessing all of east Cornwall being very central. The Cottage was very clean as well warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend any couple to book this you won’t be disappointed. The hosts are helpful and friendly but not intrusive a great balance.

• "Beautiful barn."

  Very well appointed but needs updating. Our only complaint is that the tv needs updating to a smart tv in order to have more choice of programmes especially in the winter months and darker evenings. The bed was far too small and the shower quite restrictive. Other than that we had a great stay.

  We are pleased that you had a great stay and it was a pleasure to meet you both. We are disappointed that you have complained about the TV. This is a SMART LED TV. Nearly every evening during your stay you rang or messaged us to say that you were unable to operate the tv. Chris called around each time you contacted us & explained or showed you how to find the channels. He also explained, that in this area, we are not always able to access all of the channels that you have access to back at your home address. There was also a manual for use in the folder. You also mention that the bed was too small! this is a standard 4'6" double bed. Due to the roof structure of the Byre and the exposed timber beams in the mezzanine, we compromised on bed size to avoid anyone tall hitting their head on the beam when getting out of the bed, however, we do think that we could get away with a 5' bed and will consider this when replacing. As for the shower, this is a standard size shower, more than adequate for one person, but understandably, should two persons want to shower at the same time, then this would be somewhat restrictive. You say the Summer House was beautiful and very well appointed but needs updating. Where or what does the updating refer to? We are disappointed that some of the above was not mentioned to us during your stay and that you felt the need to publish this rather than bring it to our attention at the time. Shirley and Chris. • "This wonderful cottage will suit anyone wanting to get away from it all."

  Despite its location adjoing the Helston/Redruth road we heard nothing of the traffic. The huge gardens are a haven of wildlife including the owners menagerie (Goose, Duck and Hen currently) and the variety of planting and native trees is amazing. Awoken by the dawn chorus set us up for exploring The Lizard Peninsula and beyond which is all on the doorstep. The owners will keep a low profile but, if you need the, they are a charming couple for whom nothing seemed too much trouble. With the whole county to choose from our next trip to Cornwall will certainly be spent here.

  Everything about it was just perfect … the owners Shirley & Chris were the perfect hosts. The cottage itself was out of this world -- so pretty and imaginatively styled.. full of art works and everything was quality in the best condition. The whole place could not be faulted . That is before I mention the location -- a fantastic garden setting with private sitting area -- shade if required -- a bigger garden that opens to the public was ours to explore as well -- it was just heaven ….and, best of all a fantastic tearoom although it was much more than this on site which served exquisite food. The whole place is a credit to Shirley & Chris and I am sure we will return again soon. More places like this please !
