  • "A fantastic property in Royal William Yard."

A clean and comfortable property with a gorgeous view across the Estuary. Loved watching the tide ebb and flow. Great facilities on the doorstep, cafes, restaurants, bars and a cinema. The ferry leaves from the yard to the centre of Plymouth and to Cornwall. We also enjoyed swimming in the bay and there's a Sauna in the yard. Host very helpful. Highly recommend staying here.

We’re delighted you enjoyed Clarence Riverside and found it to be clean and comfortable. The views are very special and calming. Also great to hear you took advantage of the facilities at Royal William Yard - so amazing to hear you swam in the sea in October! Wild swimming at Firestone Bay certainly goes from strength to strength. We’d be delighted to host you again, thank you for staying with us. Property Owner

  • "Lovely historic property, very clean & amazing views."

However the quiet was spoilt by building work starting at 8am (except weekends),as the building opposite is currently being converted into apartments. We were handed keys on arrival & told there is no easy way to get up to the apartment, just go up the very steep metal stairs and walk back the length of the building to the apartment. There are internal fire escape stairs with a return, which was slightly easier. Inside the flat the stairs were also very deep & steep, this was quite challenging for one of our party. It was a lovely place, and would love to stay here again, but for our party we would choose a different property in one of the other buildings that has a lift.

Hi Janine, I’m really pleased to hear that you found the flat to be very clean and enjoyed the river views. I appreciated your contacting me during your stay; it was a shame that our first and second floor duplex didn’t meet the needs of one of your party, who was challenged by the stairs. Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. Property Owner

  • "The apartment was great, very comfortable and a lovely welcome pack, especially the gin and tonic!"

! also the view from the lounge window was beautiful. Parked the car on arrival (added bonus allocated parking) and only used it once as the bus stops right outside the Yard. Plenty of places to eat so didn’t have to cook once. We were very lucky with the weather and was able to get out and about, all in all a lovely holiday in a lovely place …. thank you Anna and John for sharing your apartment.

Hi Linda, delighted to hear you had a great time and that the weather was kind. Really pleased to hear you found the apartment to be comfortable, the view really is very special. All the best, Anna & John Property Owner

  • "Being honest, Plymouth wasn't on our to do list."

Having visited the south west many times previously, Plymouth was a place sign posted off the M5. However a week later I'm so glad we decided to visit. Royal William Yard is a lovely peaceful location. Previously a naval establishment from the 1800s, the old naval buildings are now converted into luxury apartments and a few restaurants. Prior to arrival, communication from the owner was good. On arrival day, we spoke with the housekeeper (nice lady) who met us at the apartment building and showed us our allocated parking space; plus helped with any information we required. The apartment itself is within one of the converted naval buildings and is very well put together, with just about everything we needed for our stay. We were provided with milk, coffee, tea etc plus some miniature Plymouth gin and tonics. Nice touches! The apartment (on two floors) is well decorated and appointed and was spotlessly clean. The view from the lounge window over the water was great, we spent ages just watching the various craft going past, with views towards Cremyll. Royal William Yard itself was lovely. The restaurants were good and sitting on the green in the sun was very relaxing. There is plenty to see within RWY with information displayed detailing the history of the place. We spent a number of evenings just walking around RWY plus sitting at restaurants on the waterfront. In addition there are benches outside the apartment where you can sit and watch the harbour. Access to Dartmoor and various beaches was easy. Another great day out was to use the Cremyll ferry which sets off nearby and then spend a few hours walking around the Mount Edgcumbe House and country park just across the bay. So a week later, would we visit Plymouth again - definitely. Would we visit this apartment again - most definitely!

Hi Liz, I’m glad to hear you had a great stay. We couldn’t ask for better feedback! We’d be more than delighted to host you again in the future. Very many thanks, Anna Property Owner

Lovely location. Although we managed to use the hob, we couldn’t find the instructions in the apartment on how to use it.

Hi Susan, very many thanks for your feedback; I’m glad you enjoyed what the property has to offer. I’ll double check on the position with regard to the hob instructions. Both Danielle and I are always available to guests for any help needed during their stay. Property Owner

  • "We really liked the apartment, spacious and good view from the lounge."

Good facilities including games for a rainy day. Couldn't find a bottle opener though and coffee pods all decaf. It would've handy to have a caftiere as the pods aren't available in shops. We found it easy to go into Plymouth and enjoyed using the Cremel ferry across to Edgecombe. Makers canteen was fab for a breakfast stop. Would stay here again very happily

Hi Sarah, we’re really pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and what the apartment has to offer. Great that you made it over to the Rame Peninsula and discovered the creative hub at Maker Heights. We usually leave a selection of coffee pods so I’m sorry this wasn’t the case when you stayed. The bottle opener/corkscrew should be in the sideboard drawer in a little black box, next to the cocktail utensils; we’ll double check. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Great to hear you had a super time at Clarence Riverside and enjoyed what the apartment, Royal William Yard and the wider area has to offer. • "Lovely flat and position good."

Bathroom and kitchen floors were in need of washing. Four mugs were put in the cupboard dirty as were the saucepans and frying pan.Another hand towel would have been useful as would kitchen utensils for example a tin opener! There was no provision to enable preparing any food other than a sandwich or breakfast which is not ideal when self- catering.

Thank you for leaving a review. We are sorry to hear that we didn’t fully meet your expectations, which we have addressed. Regarding the kitchen equipment, having undertaken a full inventory today, all of the utensils remain in the drawer in the cupboard to the left hand side of the fridge, including the can opener. Perhaps we need to signpost where they are kept. We hope you still managed to have an enjoyable stay. As ever, we encourage guests to make contact should they need assistance whilst at the apartment and Danielle is able to attend at short notice, if required. Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our stay at 41 Clarence, the location of the apartment was lovely and the contact we had with the owner prior to our stay was very caring."

There were however a few niggles with the apartment. As it is at the top of the building there were limited ceilings which was understandable due the type of building but meant that any sound carried throughout the apartment which was awkward at times. Some of the equipment seemed tired. The television did not have an aerial and only gave access to 'catch-up' programs. The coffee machine used capsules which we could not find and was controlled by a mobile phone app which of course we did not have. A coffee table in the seating area would have been helpful. Despite these niggles 41 Clarence was a comfortable place to stay.

Hi Sue, thank you so much for your feedback, really pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. We’ve addressed the TV viewing options to include live TV, in addition to Netflix etc and two coffee tables have been delivered today. I’m sorry that you had trouble operating the Nespresso coffee machine. I think the use of an app must be optional as we’ve used it without this. We supply coffee pods for guests as part of the welcome pack; they are located in the tray underneath the coffee machine - we’ll make this clearer for future guests. We hope to host you again in the future and I’m on hand at any time to help with queries; Danielle, our property manager can also come to the property if needed. Kind regards Anna Property Owner

  • "I was losing confidence in Sykes but this property is fantastic and back to the high standards we’d come to expect."

The listing was very accurate and everything was clean and usable. We loved being in this converted building which has retained a lot of its original character but with a very new & modern twist inside the apartment. It also overlooks the water and the views are amazing. The area of Royal William Yard is great with many restaurants and bars, you can even get ferries across to the Barbican or all the way to Cawsands/Kingsands (good day out). Communication with owners/argents was very easy and always friendly, would definitely like to stay here again.
