  • "Chyrosen has been our home away from home in Cornwall."

Its so lovely and comfy. The bedrooms were suitable for the families. We had a great time. Just wishing we have more pots to cook from but overall we had a great stay. Vanessa is easy to approach and replying to our queries. Till next time!

  • "Crockery and frying pan mix match or poor condition."

I have holidayed with Sykes for many years and found this and other properties as described and clean and would highly recommend staying. Chyrosen was ideal for the nine of us and extra bathroom on ensuite fitted upstairs would vastly improve this dwelling. But location was brilliant half hour from coastline 10minutes from Cornish oven factory by far the best pasties going. Very pleased with stay this year. Thank you kindly Keith Williams

  • "Not enough cereal bowls provided."

Only 1 baking tray which was very well used. We went and bought a 3 pack in Tesco for £4. Frying pan also poor condition and only 1. Although indoor airer for clothes no external line found. Which would have been useful for wetsuits and washing. Bedrooms very comfy and spacious and furniture very new. Downstairs small double bed, room large so shame it wasn’t a double or king size. Great outside space in garden and parking. Location was brilliant for seeing lots of Cornwall. Just fyi incase the owner is unaware there is a lot of dog barking from a neighbouring location which if at the property for long periods would probably be very annoying.

  • "Very disappointed on arrival."

We arrived to the house looking very tired and in need of lots of TLC. Dirty tea towel, dish washer needed salt and rinse aid and broken thresholds in two places. Double glazed window pane gone, broken bulb in bedside lamp. The dining room wall lights non functioning. Unable to use heating as said do not use. Windows difficult to open and close. Curtain rail fell down but Vanessa was prompt In getting it repaired. The bedding was disgusting, they smelt unpleasant so I washed the duvet sets to realise the duvet itself is the problem. No hooks anywhere to hang stuff. Small double bed pointless and hard. Nowhere to hang anything in single room. No bathroom upstairs really inconvenient! You could easily turn the single bedroom into a bathroom upstairs. The frying pan misshaped and not fit to use. Baking try also in need of replacing. We felt we couldn't cook as too dirty. Such a shame after spending a lot to stay here as the location is ideal as within 10 miles of most beaches, attractions. As it's Cornwall scones would be perfect as a welcome gift. My positive feedback is that Vanessa was welcoming and prompt in helping us when the rail fell down and got the grass cut too.

  • "Great sized house and in a good location for travel all around Cornwall."

Space for 4/5 cars to park which was almost impossible to find elsewhere. House was clean and modern. All I can fault is the lack of any hooks to hang coats on.

  • "We had a lovely stay."

There was plenty of room for all nine of us. Most of us slept well and beds were comfortable only preference myself and my husband would of preferred would of been for the small double bed downstairs to be a normal double size. My husband is disabled and he did struggle a bit turning over ect which did effect our sleep a bit but otherwise was comfortable. I guess it's down to preference. The house is in a great place for visiting all parts of Cornwall all only half hour away. Garden was very spacious for kids to run around. We would certainly recommend for any family to stay. We had a wonderful holiday and created some great memories. Thankyou

  • "After a long drive, we were welcomed by a warm house with a cosy log burner fire, mince pies and a Christmas tree!"

Fantastic house perfect for our extended family to relax, do their own thing and come together. Beautifully clean and well-maintained. Owners very prompt with responses to the odd question or two. A perfect holiday venue!

  • "Great sized property for three families to come together for a staycation - loads of space, huge garden, everything worked."

Given the age ranges of <2 to 40 across 11 ppl the accommodation was well suited. Our host Vanessa was welcoming and couldn’t have done more to maximise our stay - in advance and during our stay she was always on hand to offer any support. The location is great (everything is “30 minutes drive”) - the one draw is that sound travels extensively throughout the property so if you are a light sleeper be prepared for many disturbances unless you align sleeping schedules.

  • "We have enjoyed staying at the Chyrosen as the place is very massive, comfortable and perfect for all as it is near the places that we have been."

The only bad thing i can fault is the pillowcases that hasn't been changed? As it doesn't smell good luckily there is a washing machine so managed to wash it instead. Otherwise its a nice place to stay in.

  • "Our stay at Chyrosen was fantastic!"

The delicious cupcakes were a great welcome. The property was clean and easy to maintain. My kids particularly loved the garden, great size to run around and play games.

  • "Lovely house, clean with good quality beds and bedding."

Attentive host who provided what we needed promptly. Location was great, within easy walking distance of pubs and shop in St Day. Garden well kept and large. A little lacking in utensils etc. Only one sharp knife, one tea towel, no corkscrew or airer or rotary line to dry clothes.

  • "We booked the property for New years 2022/23."

Our party consisted of 5 adults, 1 with mobility issue and 4 young children. Property ticked all of our boxes and the owner was very helpful and accommodating. Living room and dining area very spacious, beds super comfy. Great location to explore both north and south cornish coast.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Chyrosen, the house is cosy and accommodated our party of 10 well."

The location was good, all the main attractions were 30-50 mins either end which made travelling easier. The only downside was both bathrooms were downstairs. However the fact there were 2 bathrooms for the 10 of us was essential. Thank you to the owner, who was responsive.

About the location

ST DAY

Porthtowan 5 miles; Portreath 6 miles; Truro 7 miles; St Ives 20 miles; Falmouth 10 miles.

St Day was originally named after the little known Saint Day or Dye (better known in Brittany). The village now has a pub and convenience store, as well as a granite, gothic-style church dating back to 1828. Six miles away is the popular village of Portreath which attracts visitors from around the world with its wild and rugged coastline. High cliffs, secluded coves and sandy, surf-washed beaches typify the area while all around are reminders of the area's rich industrial heritage. Portreath offers a small fishing harbour, shops, a number of pubs, three cafés and a Chinese takeaway, while its safe, sheltered sandy beach is a popular attraction. For a great day out, visit the cathedral city of Truro with its cobbled streets, shopping centre, theatre, museum and great restaurants, just 7 miles away, or travel a few miles along the coast to Gwithian and follow the vast expanse of sandy beach, which leads down to Hayle and on to St Ives. A delightful holiday location.
