  • "Coles Cottage owner Geoff seems like a really nice guy."

He called me about a week before to explain entrance and contact details for the housekeeper which I thought was very good. It is a very old cottage but has been semi modernised inside whilst still being quite cosy. It is extremely well equipped too with all the pots, pans, cups, glasses and utensils etc. Washing machine, freezer, microwave etc. There was, and it needs stressing as the pictures dont really show it, plenty of room inside and out. There were 7 of us, 5 adults and 2 children and we never felt as if we were getting under each other's feet, as it were. My Mum and Dad stayed in the ground floor bedroom which was very useful. If you like books, there are many in many places to choose from. If you like music, there is a very extensive and varied collection of LP's which we all enjoyed listening to! There is also a large lawn , very quiet and private and lovely on a sunny day. A little overgrown. The housekeepers , Sheila and David (I think) were very helpful too and on arrival , Sheila had provided us with scones, jam and cream as a welcome! Just a couple of small points and purely as constructive input from having stayed here and experienced it, maybe have a look at fixing taps in bathroom and kitchen as both stiff and or in need of washers or valves. I explained to David when he came to replace a bulb. Also, i appreciate that it gets cleaned each week before new visitors arrive but it could probably do with a 'deep' clean once in a while and removal of many cobwebs we found. I hoovered around a couple of times in the week but at first, the rechargeable hoover didn't seem to be working so I stripped it down , cleared out the pipe and filters etc and voila ! Took about 2 minutes. Works a treat now. One last thing, it could probably do with a freshen up on the decorating although I fully appreciate that could just be a matter of taste. I do hope you don't mind me mentioning these points, I just thought it may make things more enjoyable for further visitors. Other than that, we found Coles Cottage to be a great base to eat , sleep and relax together as a family while visiting a number of different places in Devon and Cornwall this week. Thank you. Richard Grace.
