Great location with a fantastic view! Hope to return again next year. David and Melissa

  • "We have been before 4 times."

We appreciate the improvements especially the new Bosch white goods and, we think, the new bed(s?). It is still without WiFi, so that now our grandchildren are a bit older can be a nuisance. There was no mop so we had to use our towels when the fridge thawed suddenly, and we were given only one dishcloth for our 3 week stay. One change really needs to be made; the 2 steps down from the patio to the gravel are steep and deep, and I am waiting for my 2nd knee op. They are too tricky even if I didn't have the problem and there's plenty of room to make helpful alterations.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back anytime in the future. All suggestions/comments can be viewed by the property owners so these are appreciated. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

Only thing I would caution people is if you want to BBQ you'll need to take your own mini one as the BBQ on site isn't really fit for purpose any more.

  • "4th time back."

We certainly knew what to expect. It’s not perfect and things are tired and perhaps a bit cheap, but things work. There were a few little things at the beginning - Sykes were out very promptly to mend them which was great. On going things - The toaster - It’s obvs been in that sorry state for a while, mentioned in lots of reviews, it needs to be mended. The sofas…. Try as we might we weren’t able to secure the legs onto the sofas. Sadly not a very good model. They all started coming off. This wasn’t a new thing. And the damn alarm. Be warned that Sykes can not be reached out of hours.

  • "Turnstones is a property in an amazing location with sea views."

Just minutes walk to the beach and coast path, to Rock, Greenaway, Polzeath and across the ferry to Padstow. Perfect location for trips to the rest of Cornwall. Sadly the property in very tired, poorly maintained and in need of attention. The feedback given from our last year stay has not been responded to except two mattresses replaced. The furniture is very dated except the sofas. The fridge / freezer leaks water over the floor if at moderate cooling temperature is set but freezes and spoils food in the fridge if colder to avoid leave. The smaller freezer, and fridge in the kitchen is very dated and function poorly. Kitchen units and tiles are very old and damaged. The washing machine, tumble drier, microwave, kettle and dishwasher function well. The toaster handle is still broken as last year. Crockery is mismatched, chipped and very old (although a set of 4 white square added). The property sleeps 6 but the mismatched crockery does not allow matching table setting. The cutlery is flimsy and mismatched. The frying pans have buckled bases. The twin room carpets are moth eaten around edges. On arrival the property I took two hours to clean the property, removing food debris and sand from between cushions on sofas, cobwebs from under furniture and moths and their debris from the two bedroom carpets as well as clean all surfaces. It appeared that the property had not been given any service attention since last guests. The alarm was flashing inside during the whole week and the alarm set off one evening. I was informed that an alarm company would address the issue but by end of the week nothing changed. All of the concerns above have been reported to the agency and I was reassured that action would be taken. I do hope so. This property has huge potential to be a spectacular place to enjoy the beauty of Cornwall. I recommend the location.

  • "We had a lovely stay again - we’ve been many times over the last 25 years."

Property standard: Turnstones, by today’s holiday rentals standards, it’s not a home from home. It is pretty much as it was 25 years ago and could do with some more tlc to make it more comfortable. For example, plates and table mats are the originals, and where items have been replaced eg. Cutlery, it is the cheapest and lightest possible. The road access is particularly bad. Property management: We were really disappointed by this. Issues we found included: Not checking cleanliness eg: Dirty plates with dried on food in the cupboard; one cupboard stank of fish due to a dirty oven tin; a rotting apple core in the sofa cushions; bins not being emptied. On arrival the property had a number of very strong air fresheners in most rooms, a dehumidifier in the main bedroom, and the Lino lifted in the main bathroom, and all radiators were on full - suggesting a damp/mould problem. Minor issues included the plinth under the cupboards by the sink was also off. All things suggesting a lack of care. We reported the bins being full on the Friday of our booking. Nothing was done other than a ‘thank you for putting out previous guests waste’. On the morning that we left we put all the rubbish out for collection as instructed - 2 already overflowing bins, a crate of recycling, cardboard boxes - then added ours in a black plastic bag. Needless to say, before leaving by 9am, we had to clear up the rubbish twice with the unprotected black bin bag being attacked by wildlife and rubbish strewn across the drive and road.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear that the above points regarding the cleanliness and maintenance issues had a negative impact on your stay. • "A little bit disappointed with the property."

Despite it being advertised as recently refurbished, it still felt dated and tired. Seems refurbish was limited to a new carpet in two rooms, new sofa and a fresh coat of paint. Otherwise it was still need of a lot work. It has also not been cleaned properly after the last use, as there was mould in the fridges and dusty surfaces. The oven also needs a good clean. We had to hoover the the whole place as soon as we got there as that had clearly not been done either. The mattresses in all rooms need replacing. One of the single mattresses was so bad it ended up causing one of party guest a bad shoulder ache. Was not suitable to sleep on at all. It’s definitely unfortunate as the property is situated in a lovely area with beautiful views.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, we do apologize you did not find the property appropriate for your stay, your comments have been passed onto our maintenance and housekeeping teams to look into these issues. John Brays Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owners. Property Owner

  • "This is a lovely property with excellent location Boiler worked really well so lots of hot water at all times lovely open space and very practical There were lots of boxes left lying around in the utility area (from outdoor umbrella recently purchased for example)."

This shouldn't have been our job to put these away. The cleaner / previous tenants hadn't done a good job cleaning up and the fridge wasn't clean at all Lots of mud on the outdoor patio which again we had to tidy up. Just needed some care and attention. From the property perspective, it was exactly as described. Some new kitchen furniture (table) and even the kitchen units themselves wouldn't go a miss Kitchen utensils were very basic (knifes, forks, etc) I can't imagine it would take a huge amount of money to make this property very nice indeed.

Thank you for your feedback from your recent stay at Turnstones. We are pleased you enjoyed the property and its location. We are sorry for the issues with the housekeeping and will ensure these are raised with the cleaning company. We do hope that we get the opportunity to welcome you back to Cornwall in the future. • "Our reservations regard the property's upkeep."

After 3 years renting it we were delighted to see some new white goods. Also new sofa and fresh bedroom carpet. However, the crockery is rubbish and single beds poor. Hall pictures still weird and STILL NO WiFi. Boyh the main bedroom doors to the loo and to the passage are stiff and misbehaving. The kitchen fridge isnt really chilled enough and the shelves in its door are needing a good clean. We pay the rent because we love the location, not the house. And considering the rent, some more investment is overdue. NB I have a pic on my phone of rainwater running down the inner porch wall near the burglar alarm, if you'd like me to send it. Thank you for asking.

Thank you for you comments. We are pleased you like the improvements made to the property and I will ask the maintenance team to look into the other issues raised. We hope you join us back in Cornwall very soon. John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owners. Property Owner

The property has been updated since last year and it is brilliantly equipped. We met and chatted to the owners who couldn’t have been more helpful. It was lovely to see them. It is a perfect holiday house. We will return!! We missed having a hose to hose off our wetsuits but this could be due to the ban.

New mugs, new kitchen utensils (peeler and grater were rubbish/in 4 pieces) The mugs are all dreadful and there were only 4 mis matching wine glasses The sofas which were fantastic last year were starting to peel. I understand that it’s a holiday cottage and not a first home but just a bit of money/love spent will perk it up and then we would love to come back.

Thank you for your feedback and bringing these issues at the property to our attention. About the location

DAYMER BAY

Polzeath 1.3 miles; Rock 2.3 miles.

Daymer Bay and the village of Trebetherick were both loved by Sir John Betjeman and are unquestionably special. With a huge appeal to both the young and not so young, Daymer Bay has recently been voted one of the best beaches in the world! St. Enodoc Church, once buried in the sand, is within comfortable walking distance of Daymer Bay and is the resting place of Sir John Betjeman. Daymer Bay holds great appeal for wind surfers, kite surfers and paddle boarders, with the gentle waves rolling up the estuary. There is enormous fun too for small children with buckets and spades and fishing in the rock pools. At low tide you can walk across the sand to the village of Rock to indulge in a spot of retail therapy or a bite to eat at one of the many delicious eateries, or catch the short ferry ride and explore the delights of Padstow. Up from the coast path as it runs from Daymer Bay is Highcliffe, nestling between Polzeath and Trebetherick, both of which boast a number of pubs, restaurants and village stores all offering a wide variety of fresh quality produce. The properties at Highcliffe have the advantage of being within easy reach of Daymer, Polzeath and Greenaway - Greenaway being the name given to the clifftop area, beach and small cove with rock pools overlooking the Atlantic beyond that lies between Daymer and Polzeath.
