  • "We had a most enjoyable time on our second visit to Downrow."

Sitting in the garden watching the sun set over the sea with birdsong the only sound was blissful. Tintagel is within easy walking distance and the wonderful St. Nectan's Glen a short drive away. The bed was SO comfortable and the cream tea in the welcome pack was just perfect after a long drive. Trevor is so friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend Downrow

  • "Poor response or assistance from owner when we raised issue with television and Wi-Fi."

Raised complaint with Sykes and poor response. Left property after 4 days as terrestrial tv was even unwatchable. Final straw was he arranged to come over the next morning early so we set alarm to be up to meet with him and he didn’t arrive. Considering he only lives next door it was unacceptable.

We are very sorry this happened- Trevor was waiting outside and as curtains were drawn he wasn’t sure what do. Unfortunately due to the weather and a breakdown in the internet this all this affected the TV. It also happened to be over the Christmas week when everyone was closed. It was all fixed by the Wednesday afternoon but this was too late. We are really sorry it spoilt your holiday. Property Owner

  • "This is the best property that we have stayed in with Sykes Cottages."

It is sympathetically restored to a high standard, beautifully maintained and with a decent garden too. Has all the mod cons.It is within walking distance of Tintagel, see the Castle and other attractions. Small supermarket there as well, with places to eat in the village. Enjoyed my stay enormously.

So happy you had a wonderful time. I hope you return soon. Property Owner

The cottage had everything you’d want, or need, for a great holiday. Well equipped kitchen, lovely lounge area, with a good sized TV, a very comfortable bed, the dressing room was a surprising bonus! Plenty of parking right in front of the cottage, and a pretty, fenced, dog friendly garden, with a nice little patio, that is the ideal sunset watching spot! Open fields to the side of the garden, with very friendly cattle on some days!

  • "Downrow barn is lovely, it has been renovated beautifully to a high standard and is well equipped."

There were a few little things that could be tweaked and we fed that back to Trev. Please do not feel that inaccuracy of description or directions to the property are anything to do with the owner, he has tried to get them fixed but Sykes have done nothing. If you use Google maps to find the property you will end up on a farm further down the road. When we arrived at the barn there was a lovely welcome pack of local produce. Trev popped round when he got home from work to make sure everything was OK. The location is brilliant, and we definitely go back.

  • "It was a very nicely decorated and comfortable cottage with a beautiful garden overlooking the sea at Tintagel."

Unfortunately there was no internet access, and even though it didn't bother us too much the owners should have been honest about this before our arrival. We cannot fault the hospitality upon arrival and the "treat box" that had been prepared for us. My husband and I have stayed in other Sykes Cottages where there's been a folder with information about the workings of appliances, and a brief overview about the local area. Unfortunately, we couldn't get the hobs on the oven to work properly and are not familiar with heat conducting pans and saucepans. Suffice to say we ate out every night, as to plough through instruction manuals to understand the workings of equipment was not our idea of a holiday!! we ended up heating things up in the microwave. This would've been a problem if we'd been staying at the barn for longer. An ironing board, iron and hairdryer would've also been a useful addition. Apart from this my husband and I did enjoy our peaceful and restful stay in this rural location. I hope our observations will be useful for the owners, and if these small improvements were made this would be a very sought after little nook.

Thank you for your feed back I am so sorry about the internet I had put money onto the dongle and I did ask Trev to check with you wether it was working but he forgot to ask. I have now got dongle on unlimited data - it’s really frustrating for us as we have been promised broadband for the last 7months. The iron ironing board and hairdryer are in the Amazon shopping basket and will be ordered today. Once again I can only apologise for the hob - I think it’s a safety feature I think you need to fill up the saucepan and then switch it on but not check. I will definitely take you views on board. Thank you for your feedback. Kind Regards Property Owner
