  • "Lovely comfortable house in beautiful Charlestown."

Had an issue with both TVs - one didn't work at all. Contacted the friendly owner who sorted issues out promptly the next day. The welcome folder did not contain any instructions for TV's, oven, heating, hot tub etc - this was mentioned to owner as we think it's essential to understand how things work and would have been really helpful. There was no BBQ available in outside space which we expected, didn't want to bother owner again to ask.

  • "Beautiful property with everything you need."

Perfect location in a picturesque little town. Charlestown is so pretty and the local people really kind and helpful. The property itself was perfect for 4 adults, spacious and cosy, providing everything they we needed and more. The hot tub was a lovely bonus, set in a gorgeous garden. Definitely somewhere that we would return.

  • "Great property, felt very homely."

It had all we needed for our stay. Perfect for our dog too with the enclosed garden and the hot tub was an added bonus. It would be nice to have a washing line or somewhere to dry the wet towels/swimming costume but other than that, we couldn't fault the property. Fab location with lots of coastal walks on your door step, and the choice of restaurants and pubs was ideal! We certainly tried a lot of them!

Dear Virginie Thank you for your lovely comments and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. I think you must have not noticed that there is a retractable washing line in the garden, and the washing machine has a combined drying feature. We look forward to seeing you again in the future Regards Sallie Property Owner

  • "This is our second visit to Quay House and our 4th to a Sykes Property in the last year."

We love this house it’s ideally situated, clean and well appointed. This stay we had a couple of maintenance issues but they were dealt with by the owner quickly. Luckily there were other options for us in the house. We sadly probably won’t be back to Quay House as our visits have been celebrations for us and our family together but we would recommend it to all. Enjoy it as we have.

Thank you for your lovely comments and it’s a shame you cannot visit us a third time. Thank you for your understanding of the plumbing issue, and for allowing us to quickly remedy the problem. Regards Sallie Property Owner

  • "Quay house is a wonderful place to unwind and relax."

The facilities are superb and spacious with the added bonus of the hot tub. Great base for exploring Cornwall or just chilling and wandering down to the beach. Our dogs loved the garden and the under floor heating, which kept the house cosy and warm. One of the best home from home experiences.

  • "Truely magnificent!"

Cottage is just a perfect blend of space, comfort and in a perfect location. The kitchen is very well equipped with utensils, pans and cutlery. Unfortunately for us, the Aga was out of action during our stay, so we sampled the excellent restaurants and cafes in Charlestown, all of which are within a 3 minute walk. The harbour and Coastal Path is a 2 minute walk away and perfect for walking the dog to Carlyon Beach and with the added bonus of a soak in the hot tub afterwards. We really did not want to leave and are already planning suitable dates for returning next year.

  • "Cute house in a good position."

Perfect for 4 people with a small dog. Appreciated the welcome gifts. Parking outside the house - easy walk into the village and good access to the coastal paths. Plenty of good places to eat & drink - can recommend Seaside, The Boathouse & The Pier House Hotel.

Thank you so much for your feedback, it’s much appreciated. We’ve just gone live again for 2024 and would love to welcome you back to our lovely house by the harbour. Thanks again. Property Owner

There were 7 of with 2 dogs and we never felt cramped. The garden was lovely as was the hot tub. Charlestown harbour, beaches, pubs and restaurants wee all a 2 min walk away. We had a wonderful week.

  • "We had a very enjoyable holiday at Quay House."

The property is located in a quite area of Charlestown, though still close to the main facilities on offer. On arrival we were provided with a very nice welcome pack. There is plenty of space to relax after a busy day. The kitchen had everything you would require on holiday, even the Aga was easy to use. The bedrooms were also spacious and comfy. Restaurants we recommend are Rebellion (just opposite the property), Pier House and The Boathouse all provided a very good choice of meals. We had plenty of walks along the South West Coast Path, which is easily accessible from the house. Places we enjoyed were Fowey, Mevagissey, Bodmin Jail. We were very disappointed with The Lost Gardens of Heligan, very expensive entry fee for what was on offer. We would definitely stay again at Quay House and highly recommended it.

Very handy for the town and harbour, plentiful amenities in the house the hot tub was well used and allowed us all to relax of an evening the kids loved it too! The beds are very comfy and the house had plenty of room for everyone - we were a party of seven with two dogs. The house was very clean and was very welcoming to return to each day. We used all the restaurants in Charlestown and never turned the Aga on. I would recommend this property 100%.

  • "A lovely well equipped cottage in an amazing location and generous welcome pack."

The beds were lovely and extremely comfortable. The only slight issue we had was there were no instructions to operate the heating. When ‘rads’ switch is turned on on the timer in the kitchen they cannot be controlled by the room thermostat on the landing. When small bed radiator is turned completely off it still gets very hot. In order to the turn the upstairs radiators off you have to turn all the individual underfloor timers off in each ground floor room. And the Underfloor heating doesn’t work in the lounge. We didn’t contract the owner as we used a process of illumination as my brother in law is a heating engineer, however I think this needs attention. We were unable to work out how to get the terrestrial channels on the tv but this was not an issue but instructions would be useful.

Hello and thank you for your lovely comments about the house. However, I’m confused that you say you didn’t contact the owner, as you did? You messaged me so I met you at the house, I also have texts from you thanking me for the assistance I gave you. I have never received similar comments relating to the heating system and Quay House is seldom unoccupied. Best wishes. Property Owner

Everything we needed was there, including a generous welcome pack for our arrival. Cooking on the Aga was a new experience, but with the help of the supplied cookbooks to identify the hotter and cooler ovens, it was a joy. Happy memories of a wonderful holiday.

It is beautifully presented and has all the facilities needed for a vacation with friends. It is well positioned, particularly for eating out and it is a great base for dog walking. Despite the inclement weather the house was a lovely warm base from which to venture out.

  • "The only issue we had was there there were no instructions on how to cook on the aga, we tried but the temperature was not high enough, I know that the cooking experience is different however it took half an hour to cook part cooked bread and then it was solid and not browned."

I did not want to explore the workings for fear of causing damage. Other than this is was an excellent property. Perhaps another form of cooking, apart from a microwave would be a bonus.
