  • "Lovely cottage in a great location for exploring the Camel Trail."

The lane from here is very steep and long though so difficult to ride back up on a bike. Some sort of bike storage would have been a bonus but we just kept ours in our car in the pub car park. The cottage was very comfortable. Only 2 electric radiators but kept the cottage warm. Comfy beds, shower was a little temperamental but adequate, towels provided. We had a fab time and food in the pub was lovely. Would return.

  • "We had the most wonderful week at Kingfisher cottage."

It was very clean & comfortable. Couldn’t fault it. Definitely recommend The Quarryman for eating or just a drink, such lovely friendly staff & locals. The Camel trail is only a 20 minute walk away, down hill. Great bus service if you didn’t want to walk back. We visited Harlyn bay & Constantine beaches regularly for dog walks. Perfect cottage & location. Thank you.

Thank you for such a lovely review. Property Owner

  • "I did leave a note for the cleaner as we found : —water in the washing machine and red lights flashing when we arrived."

I switched the machine off and did not use the machine over the week. —The microwave has plastic covering missing around the machine leaving bare metal. —The pillows could do with being replaced as they were ‘flat’. —the bathroom floor was not clean. — the welcome manual could do with being redone. However, we both enjoyed so much about the cottage….the WIFi connections for the TV /radio were very good and the general amenities were clean. We loved the location being close to Wadebridge and the A39 for getting around that part of Cornwall. Being so near to the pub was a real asset! So, minor issues but they would have made our stay 4*.

Thanks for your feedback. The washing machine is now mended and new pillows and microwave bought! We will have a look at updating the welcome manual. Our great cleaner takes issue with your view on the cleanliness of the bathroom floor. But rest assured our cottage usually gets 5 stars for cleanliness and that’s our aim for the future. • "We have had a wonderful stay at Kingfisher cottage this week."

The weather & coastal path walking has been stunning. Edmonton is a really good base for exploring this part of Cornwall. Regrettably, the award winning ‘Quarryman’s’ pub, close by, was closed for refurbishment for the majority of our stay. Unfortunately the log burner here seemed to be due a major service/ repair due to a faulty grate mechanism so that was disappointing. We visited in early January and the cottage was quite cold and we struggled to get warm. Otherwise we would highly recommend this location. If you’re looking for a special meal out you’d struggle to beat ‘The Mariner’s’ at Rock. The Cornish Arms pub in St Merryn is also well worth a visit. ◦

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback. We are so pleased that you had a lovely stay and were able to enjoy the coastal walks. We are sorry to hear that the local pub was closed for refurbishment during your stay, this really was out of our control. We will arrange for the wood burner to be serviced and hope that we might welcome you back for another stay at a future date. Property Owner

  • "Our stay at kingfisher cottage was lovely."

Within minutes walk to the beautiful Camel trail walk along the river Camel. The cottage was was clean, neat and compact. My one and only extremely small concern was the rope hand rail going up the stairs, one of the wall fixings was coming loose, so with my elderly parents climbing up and down the stairs we had to be extra careful. Other than this I highly recommend this cottage and company to others.

  • "Lovely cottage and very welcoming with all the extras that made it so comfortable."

It was a perfect location for getting to all the local villages and towns either driving or for walkers. Some information wasn’t too accurate - the pub was a lot nearer, four doors away, and everyone was so welcoming and the food was brilliant! The views of the Camel Estuary - there wasn’t any, just fields.

  • "We had a lovely stay, during the recent very hot weather."

Having the stable doors was a godsend! The house was lovely and cool. Great location, with all the places we like to visit no more than 15 mins away (polzeath, Daymer bay, padstow, port Isaac etc) Plus Wadebridge of course. There is an M&S/petrol station 3 mins drive away which we found very useful as we arrived quite late in the day. The house was well equipped for cooking & has a Nespresso machine if you like coffee. Good shower, which is always a bonus on holiday! I imagine the house is very cosy in the winter months too with the wood burning stove. The only comment we had was the double bed is smaller than we are used to, but my other half is 6ft4! It wouldn’t stop us visiting again though as we loved our stay at Kingfisher Cottage. .

  • "The cottage is well located and we had good contact from the caretaker who was responsive and helpful when we needed."

The cottage itself whilst well laid out is a little jaded, particularly upstairs which needs some redecorating. The 2nd bedroom is certainly best suited to children, rather than 2 adults. We had 2 friends staying with us and they certainly felt the room wasn’t appropriate for adults. The power shower was very poor – if you enjoy a shower this isn’t the property for you as the water flow was more from the taps, than the shower. Overall, the property was adequate, but a little disappointing at the same time.

Thanks for your feedback which is really useful. The whole cottage is being redecorated next month and we will also look at the shower pressure. Guests have always been impressed by the shower in the past so I am sure this was a temporary problem. Property Owner

Spotlessly clean on arrival, well laid out accommodation that we all enjoyed (including our dog Milo)! Padstow just over 10 mins drive, Rock about 15. Watergate bay about 20. Cottage is part of a block of cottages around the Quarryman Inn. Was concerned about “pub” noise but despite height of summer no issues at all - can also recommend the hand pulled Otter beer. Would work well in the winter due to wood stove in the sitting room. All in all a great place to stay.

  • "Your website does not explain that there are at least 20 cottages in v close proximity."

It was quiet while we were there but I would think if more cottages are let out that it could become extremely noisy. Also in the summer the pub uses the outside area as a smoking area and customers can sit and drink and eat outside the cottages. This is not explained in your details.

  • "We have stayed at Kingfisher Cottage on a number of occasions."

One of the reasons we keep returning is the location - especially as the dog comes too. The cottage has great facilities. It a little off the beaten track but easily within reach of the local amenities plus some of Cornwall’s great places of interest. The ease of booking and helpfulness of the staff are also key features of the holiday experience. Well done to all involved. Hopefully we will be back next year. NB - One little point we found was the plug in the bathroom was a little slow allowing the wateri draining away and there was a often a small residue of water left. This is a minor hiccup and didn’t affect our holiday on the whole.
