"The only things we found was nowhere to hang wetsuits up after use maybe some kind of rack would be good
The other thing is the wooden bed, the screws came undone by the headboard while my daughter in it on the night before leaving."
Luckily we had a tool kit with us and we tightened it up but might be worth changing the bed

"*WOULDN'T STAY AGAIN*
The location is great!"
BUT.. A BIG BUT! See other reviews? We can't all be wrong? The house wasn't cleaned properly from previous guests. Again! At this price point of 2-5k a week? You want/expect a sort of luxury. Right? That isn't what we received unfortunately. These are NOT limited to ALL our issues. 2 brown
( poo ? ) stains on a towel I washed my face with. Absolutely vile! I keep replaying it. Why was it there in the first place & not thrown away? I had to use my own beach towel all week. I didn't tell my children or they'd of not used the others. Amongst so many other things I kept to myself. Hairs from other people & bits of toilet roll in the washer and door. I gagged. Plus it smelled. ( it needs sanitised so didn't use ). Coffee maker not working. We have this same one. Dish drainer had actual rust on the entire bottom. I said I wouldn't use it as I didn't want a u.t.i from placing cups on it. Wads of hairs in the Dyson and a dirty container from previous guests. ( didn't use ). No salt in shaker, but leftover salt inside it & still dirty. I wouldn't of used it at this point, but why was it there? Under the sofa & cabinets/drawers had food and bits in them. I.m.o one of the bits looked like a hard booger. Gross! Loads & loads of food/dust/hairs on the floorboards/atop doors and lights. Massive stain on the corner of sofa/chairs furniture and walls throughout. Stain/old mark on the sheets. Again.. Why was it put back on? It was very visible. Closet door didn't open properly & nearly broke from being stuck. Lamp stopped working in one of the bedrooms. Toilet in the downstairs shower room was going to snap off wall after 1 use. Before you come @ me, my husband was a certified plumber.
( didn't use ). Speaking of toilet, one toilet plunger ( didn't check the rest folks sorry as I couldn't stomach it), had water and toilet "bits" still inside it from the last guests. Nice touch. Buzzing noise all night. ( not the sauna ). Had to download Spotify to drown it out. You have nearly no service in the house either, nor can call out inside the house. Even on your 4g. I still don't understand that. Wifi is weak so said Spotify shut off every few. No Freeview for Sky Glass nor can you watch "Sky Glass" Whats the point as others previously also said? A normal t.v would suffice. The sofa smelled of actual man sweat. Why not Febreeze it at the very least? I honestly didn't sit on it as I felt so grossed out. If the state of this place was like this after day 1... Then I just kept thinking... What more is there unseen, ect? It made me feel sick. Am I the one in the wrong to expect better? Than so be it folks. So be it. I'm the one wrong. If you like cleanliness than this house isn't for you. I do expect better. I too have never written a poor review once in my life & dislike even having to do this. I feel I may have skipped this review if Sykes would of rectified my issues in some minimal way, ( have you spoke to Hannah they kept stating? I just kept repeating myself ). But they haven't reached out. So here we are. I do now feel others ( YOU ) & the owner of the property should see and know my honest review. Housekeeping did show up after I wrote my complaint. I did in fact try to ring the numbers given, but with zero answer. Once I finally got through, I went on the balcony to do so. As no service as if the house is nade of steel. I didn't get through. So, I wrote to Sykes. On my holiday. Daily I reckon. Fun! *sarcasm*
After the initial few attemps and emails, Hannah the manager as I'm aware, from housekeeping arrived unannounced at NIGHT mind you. I was in the shower and with my poorly little one. Putting me in a quite uncomfortable situation. Asking my husband and myself to "show her the issues." What were the issues? My husband said he was so taken back and caught off gaurd that he barely even listened. He and I also wanted to enjoy our holiday & didn't try to ruin it by discussing issues in front of our children. So, he wasn't aware of all mine, and I his. If that makes sense? Again, it was awkward when she arrived and at night. We are on holiday, poorly children, and very tired. He was people pleasing by nodding & being polite he said. End of. He now in hindsight wished he would of told her to kindly leave. What more was there to do? Unannounced? Clean then & there? It was your housekeepings/managers fault. No? Plus the house needs updating. Clearly that is not housekeepings fault. But 100% the quality of the clean, and hygiene issues. I wasn't about to point it out to her. I find that rude as well. But rather write to Syke instead.
I did so the ENTIRE WEEK of my holiday & also took/sent photo's. It exhausted me the back and forth to be perfectly honest. It took time from my holiday & my family. Thanks! Would they have cleaned then & there by chatting to housekeeping? Honestly, still perplexed by that bit. The back & forth of emails to resolve this + all the issues has ruined the holiday like I say & others, so see for yourself. I have recieved nothing than this review after arriving home 1 day ( nearly 2 now ) and nothing has even been attempted to be resolved nor replied to me. Again, the housekeeper showed. But what was I to do with that? Go see her in my poo stained towel? Then to come back and offer a clean? I mean... I wouldn't stay here again sadly. It is soooo unfortunate as it's in a lovely location. My child also said the house was dirty. "From the mouths of babes" they always say folks eh? Nor would I use Sykes again after this first and last time. Such a shame. As other reviews state. I'd stay in a hotel, or Airbnb.

Just to be clear Sykes provided us with your feedback and we immediately sent the housekeeping team out to rectify your concerns with linen and to address the areas you had reported. Upon arrival of the property they were told that there were no issues to report and everything was fine, clearly a break down in communication. We don't advertise having Sky channels, yes we have a sky tv, which is used to watch tv and connect to various streaming accounts. We have requested a call out on the toilet to reseal. We have notified the cleaning company of your feedback and all reported aspects will be addressed. Finally, had we known of all this feedback during your stay and given the opportunity to address it we would have done so.

"The spa was dirty and smelly, we finished our stay early due to needing to go home to manage my disabled husband's pain."
Someone came and added chlorine but still didn't clean the tub. Scum around the tub and sand at bottom. Email sent to us to say shower before getting in, we hadn't been to the beach due to my husband's disabilities. Very dissatisfied. Sent an email and message and not even had a reply.

"Views were great , house was not cleaned from the last guest, cobwebs behind door , no kitchen towels for cleaning, coffee machine not working , hot tub not heating up it said 8 hours to heat up left it on for 12 hours still not heating up, rubbish bins over flowing , one of the bedrooms lights not working after the first nigh one of the other residents dumped 4 bin bags one split opened and was all over the drive way had to clean it up as it was going everywhere , tryed to contact the phone number on info pack no answer and the sykescottages number kept on ringing."
A bit disappointed after spending all that money , main reason for stay was the hot tub for the kids that could not be used as it would not heat up. I would not be using sykescottages again. It ruined our staycation. I don’t normally like to complain but it had to be done this time. Better off staying at a 5 star hotel next time as there’s more chances of things done when things go wrong .
Thank you for your feedback. We have had to remove the coffee machine to see if it can be repaired and if not replaced. We have moved to a new refuse company called Biffa waste to improve on the waste collection. I will investigate other properties dumping their bin bags as this is a first. The hot tub heats up 3 degrees every hour so would encourage guests to use the next day of arrival. On arrival it will be set in the program and will be heating up. All other feedback has been passed to the cleaning company to make improvements for our guests.

"The property is in a great location and is a comfortable new build but there are some things that have just not been thought through and some miss information."
There are not enough towel hooks or places to hang towels in bedrooms. No bath mats were provided, so we had to use hand towels. The hot water tap is great. The games and hot tub were a huge bonus!
The Sky Glass TV was not connected to Sky, so we could not watch normal TV channels—we did not want the cinema or sports, but it was not connected at all to any normal TV channels. We could login to netflix BBC player etc but no way of getting normal channels. What is the point of having a sky glass TV when you cannot get sky?
Recycling. When we got there the recycling bin was overflowing - this was not emptied on the Monday, we contacted Sykes and they advised that this service was not in place. The owners had no recycling collection service arranged. This is strange as it states in the property folder to put recycling in the bin. So the bin as full overflowing and no where to recycle. This is misinformation and not pretty when you arrive and there is rubbish all over the place!

We have now moved to Biffa waste for collection services, recycling collections remain challenging. All other feedback has been passed to the cleaning company. Had we been notified during your stay we would have sorted the bath mats for you. We don't advertise having Sky channels, yes we have a sky tv upstairs and a Samsung TV downstairs, which are used to watch tv and connect to various streaming accounts.

"Very difficult to speak to anyone, when there is an issue."
The rubbish bins were full on are arrival and all over the floor due to birds ripping open bags. We picked it all up and put it in black bags. We kept are waste inside till it started to smell. We put it outside fri and when we woke sat morning it was everywhere. I messaged sky Cottages about this several times. I feel really sorry for the next people who arrive because the bin men won't pick up all the rubbish around the side and parking area.The handle in utility room comes off in hand as no screws either side. And the tall dust pan in kitchen broken. but that's small stuff.As for accommodation it was absolutely perfect for are needs. Views amazing, close to beach. Everything else was great except waste and sky telling me I moved the bins. Which I didn't.
Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, we had a failed bin collection by our service provider - Biffa waste. The housekeeping team clean the property and then leave the bin by the kerbside ready for early collection on Monday morning, if the bin is removed from its position, we run the risk of missing the collection. I've spoken with Biffa and they advised that the bin wasn't where it should have been i.e. kerbside of the property so it wasn't collected. Once the red/white bin has been collected it can be returned to the property ready for guests to empty their waste into the bin. The seagulls clearly attacked the waste bins and it took the housekeeping team a revisit to clean this up. We have notified our handyman team and he is scheduling to come and fit the handle. "The property was very new and had some issues with the heating."
Someone did come out but didn't resolve the problem when we were there.
Wheelie bin was almost full of rubbish when we arrived and there was no where to leave rubbish as seagulls would attack it.
Directions to property need to be more precise, as it's hard to find. More road names would be helpful.
Beds in rooms were not what we asked for and people had to share a bed which was not ideal.
All in all, a good property, clean and great location. Just a couple of niggling problems that can easily be sorted.
Would recommend a stay here.
Thank you for your feedback. The heating was being recorded in each room as 21 degrees, we sent someone out and have now resolved the issue. With regard to waste, we are just transitioning over to a new waste provider called Biffa waste so this will resolve this issue for future guests. Apologies, your bed request was not ever communicated to us and if this had been raised with us, we would have promptly responded. As you come into Porth, the master picture of the listing is a unique set of properties in the area and can be seen from the main road. We will review the directions to make improvements. "We had a fantastic stay!"
We had a few issues but they were sorted very quickly. Hot tub was a bit smelly after using it for a few days and there was a leak under the kitchen sink. Someone came out the same day as we reported them which was great. The house is fantastic. Very clean and comfortable and to a very high spec. Could do with some thicker curtains in the lounge area of the kitchen and it was very bright at times. The balcony and view were amazing! We would definitely recommend ! We moved to a new hot tub maintenance company August, 2023, and had no complaints to date.
I'm sorry that the kitchen sink leaked during your stay and that we resolved this for you.
The curtains is a tough one, at first we went with no curtains due to how modern the property was and the fact we didn't want to lock out the magnificent headland, beach and sea views over Porth. In the end we opted for some curtains though you can still see out as having blackout curtains would have been too much in a living room with these views.

"The property itself and the location were beautiful."
Bedroom sizes were good, only comment would be that the storage in the master bedroom had no draw space; you would be fine if you hung everything up. In the bedroom which had the 2 single beds in, there were draws but no hanging space. Would have been nice to have both options in all bedrooms.
There were only 4 cereal bowls in the kitchen ( we were a party of 6), and several of the sandwich plates were chipped and so would recommend that these are replaced. Aside from the above, we had a fantastic time!

"The bed in the small room needed to be slightly bigger but I appreciate that space in that room probably wouldn’t accommodate."
However, if the apartment is advertised as 4 bedrooms and 4 adult couples are staying it isn’t ideal. We had 3 adult couples and a single adult so put the single adult in the double and a couple in the twin, which wasn’t ideal but acceptable to us. Could a bigger double bed be put in the twin room and just a single bed be put in the small room which currently houses a small double? Also there wasn’t anywhere to put clothes or hang them in the small room which was really frustrating. Again, space would be an issue for furniture possibly but just to have some hooks on the wall and a mirror would have been nice. We also felt the Lounge needed another large sofa to accommodate 7 adults - there is certainly enough space. To hire the property isn’t cheap and I just felt that it was slightly lacking in comfort for the price in relation to the size of the number of adults staying. There was also an issue with noise being generated by the hot tub motor which I tried to address with Sykes on the first day we were there but although I spoke to James and was told I would get a call back after he spoke to the owner I unfortunately didn’t. I do appreciate that the property has only just opened for business and that there may well be little issues that crop up and I also want to stress that we did think that overall the property was very nice and in a fantastic location. It just needs to offer a little more comfort for the price.
Thank you for your feedback, it's greatly appreciated. Whilst you were staying at the property we were only made aware that you were unsatisfied with the hot tub noise situated in the courtyard of the property. The question proposed to us, "Is it ok if we switch off the hot tub?". As soon as we were notified, we immediately contacted our hot tub maintenance man (James), he dropped what he was doing and went straight to the property to meet with you and explain that the hot tub can be turned off, though if you do the hot tub will lose 3 degrees of temperature every 1 hour. Guests can clearly see from the pictures that the upstairs open plan living is very spacious and downstairs we have turned one of the rooms into a games room with TV and table football that leads outside to the courtyard for table tennis, outdoor relaxing and hot tub. The double room is the smallest room of the four bedrooms, though is a nice comfortable relaxing room and the games room for families next door was a necessity to have when we conducted our research prior to launch. Please note that the twin room upon request are zip & link beds and can be made into a superking bed to provide more comfort. If we had of known during your stay we would have reacted and made this into a superking bed for you. We will look to provide some garment hanging in the double room and mirror. In the living room, there is a good sized sofa, two bean bag chairs and ten comfy dining chairs with four bar stools. We did have another sofa, though it simply overcrowded the living space so we removed it. With regard to property hire costs, the property is more cost effective than other comparable properties in the area and is discounted due to its first year of trading. Overall, we are really pleased that you thought the property was very nice and in a fantastic location. The location was perfect, literally just steps from the beach. Everything you need to feel at home was provided and we were looked after by the loveliest housekeeper Lucy, the place was spotless. We thoroughly enjoyed the views and hot tub. We would highly recommend Porth Cove to friends and family
