  • "The location and sea views are wonderful but generally we were disappointed with Bay View."

We had no Wi-Fi all week which was annoying. There was no welcome pack, not even milk, no hand wash. The fridge dropped forward when you opened the door and dishwasher and sink area had a horrible stagnant smell. Blind missing in front bedroom and bed uncomfortable with poor quality pillows and duvet. There were just six random coat hangers. Looking at the photographs on Sykes website it appears that many items are no longer there and all the little luxury touches have gone. Such a shame as with a little tic it could be so much more

  • "From the moment I arrived to leaving everything was perfect."

The weather last week wasn’t on our side in Penzance but this home was the gift that kept giving. I can’t say I needed for anything in this home. It was very accommodating. I could cook a family meal every day and always had extra utensils to play with. This really did feel like home as I love to cook for the family! Carol was absolutely brilliant and popped a message to make sure everything was suitable. Easy to access and the most beautiful view of the beach.

  • "We really enjoyed the property and our time in Penzance."

However, here are our `pros' and `cons'. Pros - the property is well done, modern but comfortable. Views terrific, seating comfortable, good position on seafront, interesting area, Navy pub food good but best was the Artistic Residence. Jubilee Pool great facilities and cafe. Bedding and towels lovely. Adequate kitchen utensils, glasses and mugs. Cons - Mattress in front bedroom very uncomfortable, keys and locks rusty which made opening doors & windows difficult, bathroom door handle very loose on arrival & dropped off on last day, shower glass door not clean, grill tray and rack in cooker dirty as was the largest frying pan, dishwasher smelt awful, curtain hem needs stitching up, all candles need removing or replacing, NO WELCOME PACK but very little of someone's milk left in fridge. We arrived after a delayed 10 hour train journey at 10pm and there was nothing. All the property problems related to maintenance/cleanliness but not enough thought given to guests requirements.

  • "Great apartment, well equipped and had wonderful views over the bay."

The bedrooms needed a bit of TLC and the TV needed an upgrade apart from that it was splendid.

  • "The cottage is in an ideal location and great for visiting different beaches and areas of Cornwall."

Parking is a big issue and for the price of the cottage I feel this should be considered for future guests. The view was to die for but the property needs a little tlc and not as well presented as other properties stayed in. There was an issue with one of the toilets but this was promptly fixed. If they want to take the property to the next level parking should be included and upkeep should be maintained to a five star standard to reflect the price.

  • "We felt that both bedrooms would have benefited from a rail to hang clothes."

1st room has an alcove ideal for a rail. 2nd room doesn’t require TV so rail could go there. We did have ants

Thank you for your feedback. We will look into adding cloths rails as you have mentioned. I'm sorry you had ants, unfortunately they can be a problem everywhere during this beautiful weather we having & we do our best to to deter them. I hope you will return to stay with us again. • "This was a lovely holiday home and we particularly enjoyed its upside down nature of the building."

Your view over Penzance Bay was glorious. Found that the commendation had everything that we needed and was extremely comfortable. The owners were great at responding very quickly to small queries we had during our stay. The one thing we could add to make this even better would be to have a small handheld knife sharpener in with the kitchen implements as some of the kitchen knives were a little blunt. It is only a small point. We had a very happy stay, thank you.

  • "The view from the upstairs living area was lovely."

It was a very pleasing, spacious living area with lots of light. It is not clear from the listings what a busy location it is. Next to two pubs, a restaurant and a very busy road. The pub/hotel had a function one night with loud music up to 12.30 am... Having said that, the apartment was not overly noisy in general. The quality of the kitchen utensils was not great and the information provided in the apartment was poor. Nothing about rubbish disposal, how to use the TV (it was 4 days till I realised it had Now TV), parking or GP details etc. Having said that, we did have a nice time and the view of the sea, Newlyn and St Michaels Mount from the picture window was glorious!

  • "Absolutely fantastic location, the views were superb."

The apartment was very clean and had everything that we needed to enjoy our stay. We appreciated all the info about the area. We had difficulty with the Wifi, it very slow, this was important to us as we needed to monitor our business while we we away. We also found the TV difficult to use, maybe a written guide to help? Unfortunately the large fire in the lounge was not working and a couple of evenings we were chilly. The beds were not very comfortable which was a big negative for us.

PENZANCE

St Ives 8 miles. Helicopter to Isles of Scilly - 30 minutes

Penzance hosts Golowan, the Midsummer Carnival, and The Literary Festival. There are also The Exchange, Newlyn and Penlee Art Galleries. One of Cornwall’s most popular holiday areas is the spectacular sweep of Mount’s Bay, from the cliffside fishing village of Mousehole through Penzance and around to beautiful Marazion, the coastline hides a wealth of sandy beaches, rocky coves as well as winding village streets and other places to visit and explore. Connected by a causeway to the shore at Marazion is the National Trust’s stunningly beautiful St Michael’s Mount with its hilltop castle and Mediterranean gardens. Walk across at low water and take one of the ferry boats back when the tide is up. Penzance with its winding streets, shops, clubs, restaurants and harbour is a must as it is the jumping-off point for day trips to the Isles of Scilly as well as being the harbor. The South West Coast Path passing through Penzance winds its way along the clifftops towards Land’s End. On the way, stop off for a coffee and a rest at beautiful Lamorna Cove, explore the open air Minack Theatre and marvel at the cliffs as you approach Gwennap Head.
