We've come back there after 5 years and both our stays were amazing. Spotless place with everything you need. We will be definitely back. Thank you so much for everything.

  • "We had a week long stay at Higher Kernick Stable."

It’s a lovely cottage with everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The house gets sunlight throughout the day. The secure garden was a bonus as we could let our dog out without worrying about him much. The location is perfect - most attractions are 30-45 min away. One can enjoy the country life and also get to tourist locations pretty quickly. The best part of the house are the hosts. Mary-Clare was there to answer any questions we had, ensuring throughout that our stay was comfortable. And she bakes the best scones in the world!

It was the best self catering accommodation we've stayed at. Mary-Clare and Kim were friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was the best it could be. Warm scones on arrival, plus some other useful bits and pieces were really nice touches. We wouldn't hesitate in coming back here again.

Our host provided a sumptuous cream tea for our arrival and weather gods provided perfect weather. Cottage very well situated to reach coast and inland attractions. Cottage of very high standard with a large enclosed garden which our lurcher loved. We especially appreciated the large walk in shower now we are older. Hope to visit again.

Beautiful surroundings and lovely bright accommodation. There was a nice cream tea waiting for us and a nice bottle of wine. The scones were made by the owner. They were delicious. If you need recommendations of places to eat and drink, just ask Marie Clare or her husband Kim (the owners). We would highly recommend a stay in this beautiful converted stable. We were sad to leave, but when we go back to Cornwall, we'll definitely be staying there again. I don't think you can top this place.

About the location

BLISLAND

Bodmin 5.7 miles; Wadebridge 8.4 miles; Polzeath 13.2 miles; Tintagel 13.8 miles; Padstow 16 miles; Fowey 17.2 miles.

Situated under the western edge of granite-bound Bodmin Moor, the village of Blisland retains its age old character and is the only village in Cornwall to have a village green with trees. Around the green, cluster old houses and cottages, as well as the famous, award-winning Blisland Inn. The village is located less than three miles from the A30, and so provides an ideal central location for touring Cornwall. Nearby, Poley’s Bridge marks the beginning of the Camel Trail, a 17-mile long route, which follows a long disused old steam engine railway line to Padstow. The route is completely traffic-free and perfect for walkers and cyclists. You can even explore the trail on horseback and a purpose-built hide has been constructed between Wadebridge and Padstow, so even birdwatchers are catered for! Pull on your walking boots and explore Bodmin Moor, or venture to the coast with your buckets and spades and enjoy a day on one of the many beautiful beaches that stretch along Cornwall’s northern coastline. A fabulous part of the country for all!

Note: height restrictions in first floor bedrooms and steep spiral staircase.
Note: Please state your preference of double room to the owner 1 week prior to arrival.
