As the Mill has its own private drive I could my dog could go out for his morning walk with no lead. The area is also the setting for the novel “Jamaica Inn” . A relaxing stay and definitely worth staying at.

  • "A beautiful little cottage nestled in the middle of peaceful countryside."

The location is excellent for day trips to many destinations. We caught the local train to St Ives one day and the beautiful town of Fowey is a 20 minute drive away. We spent our evenings sitting in the cottage garden with a glass of wine watching the barn owls emerge from their roost and trying to count the bats flying around the cottage. Sarah and Richard are the perfect hosts and always on hand if needed. Bed was sumptuous and the cream tea was so welcome in our arrival. Can highly recommended this beautiful little cottage and we hope to return one day to continue our Cornwall adventure.

Our hosts were welcoming and friendly, yet stayed out of our hair. The home-made scones with jam and clotted cream on arrival were very good and welcome after a long day on the road! Only issue we had was that the storage heaters weren't warmed up enough when we got there, and it was pretty cold, especially the bedroom. Next day onwards was fine though. Thanks both!

  • "Sarah and Richard are great hosts, the complimentary cream tea on arrival is a lovely touch."

The Mill is a historic building with some quirky aspects. The upside down configuration gives great views over the gardens and in the heatwave we enjoyed that downstairs bedroom gave some respite from the heat. The paddock was great for exercising the dog and the grounds are well maintained. Loads of wildlife including deer. The stone flagged entrance is great for taking off walking boots and drying the dog. Although the photos make the Mill look small there is more than enough room for 2 adults. Well located for the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan, Par Sands is a 10-15 min drive and dog friendly all year. Fowey is worth a visit. The only problem we had was our holiday came to an end too soon.

We had a very warm welcome from Sarah. Beautifully furnished with the most comfortable bed ever. Our only negative would be that although the garden is enclosed, it's not secure for dogs as ours within minutes walked up a bank by the side of The Mill and stepped over the wall. Having said that Sarah very kindly brought our boxer back. The owners adjoining meadow was perfect for quick dog walks. We would stay their again.

Resting close to the owner's farmhouse and 20 solar panels, you are well-placed for touring some of Cornwall's finest sites, including its expansive coastline. Each property offers a king-size double bedroom with quality contemporary furniture for storage purposes and delightful views across the fields to wake up to each morning. Pets are allowed at The Mill due to the enclosed garden, but the owners have asked guests of The Hayloft not to bring a pet with them.
