  • "The property was lovely, in a great position and very spacious."

It is well set out for several families and the kitchen diner works very well. There were a few niggles in that the oven hob was cracked and the plinth under the dishwasher was loose and fell down everytime the dishwasher was opened. Otherwise the property was very comfortable with a nice walk on the golf course and a ten minute walk to the beac

  • "Wonderful property on the heart of Rock."

Brilliant space across the whole house with great proportioned rooms and facilities through the house. Kitchen is fabulous and wonderful sitting areas too. Family have rented several times and never been disappointed. Small notes The shower in the end bathroom takes a while for the water to soak away and would have been good to have guide to heating and hot water but minor issues.

Thank you for your lovely comments. The few issues raised will be attended to by our maintenance team. We look forward to welcoming you back very soon. John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner Property Owner

  • "We love Penny Liggan."

Already booked our 4th trip and for longer. Could I possibly recommend a few things - more saucepans that work on the induction hub - more bowls - more sharp knives - change the set of drawers that have broken Taps we got mended temporarily. Chap said the owners needed a new set of kitchen taps

We just wanted to say a massive thankyou for your feedback on the property! We have passed all of the feedback to our Quality Assessment team who have been going into each and every one of our properties to work with the owners to make the properties the best they can be going into the 2023 season! - We hope you still managed to enjoy your visit despite these issues and would love to welcome you back to North Cornwall in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. • "Penny Liggan was a spacious holiday rental, with amble parking and good outdoor space for our dog."

However the house felt run down and very out dated with exception of the kitchen which had been refitted. The kitchen taps would make a horrendous noise every time someone used the shower/taps from their bathrooms (we worked out they weren’t screwed on tightly enough). The SKY TV didn’t work, they only provided terrestrial channels as they didn’t have a subscription, they just provide a sky box, which would ordinarily be fine if the TV was smart and would allow us to log in to our Netflix / Amazon accounts but it wasn’t, so for future holidaymakers, bring an HDMI cable and a laptop that you can plug in to be able to watch content on demand, otherwise you will be watching either live terrestrial television or old DVDs (we recommend Enemy at the Gate from the collection). My parents had the large double bedroom, auntie in the 2nd double bedroom and my husband and I in the twin bedroom. The twin had a broken chest of drawers which was difficult to open and no wardrobe, it felt damp in there also. Something also to bear in mind was that the property looked directly onto St Enodoc’s golf course, which is cool, until you realise you don’t have a huge amount of privacy because they can look in on you in 3 of the bedrooms and the living room. The outdoor space was nice, we sat out on the chairs often, we didn’t use the BBQ as we didn’t have reason to. If you like us are keen body boarders in Cornwall, be aware there are no outdoor showers and no dedicated drying space for wetsuits. There is a laundry room but one of the cupboards is locked (standard) but the other cupboard isn’t suitable for wetsuits. The roof light in the painted red downstairs toilet leaks, so if it’s raining you will get wet whilst doing your business. The kitchen is space is lovely with a large table for everyone to have space to eat at and a separate fridge freezer allowing us to store enough food for the week, however all the pans bar two are non-induction compatible so do not work on the hob, so with a party of 8 people, trying to feed everyone with 2 small pans is not ideal. We had a lovely time at Penny Liggan which had a fantastic location and would return but be more prepared next time and would hope some of the issues would have been remedied.

We just wanted to say a massive thankyou for your feedback on the property! We have passed all of the feedback left to our Quality Assessment team who have been going into Penny Liggan to work with the owners to make the properties the best they can be going into the 2023 season! • "This is my second visit to Penny Liggan, On arrival we had a nice welcome package with local goodies which was a nice touch and the house seemed to be how I remembered it however there was a lot of dust in places and after settling in noticed the pans/chopping boards where in a poor state, chipped glasses and cups."

The listing says the property has SKY TV but you cannot access any of the SKY channels. As our stay went on we noticed there where a lot of broken items, lights that didn't work and the gas BBQ was filthy and missing the coals which is a shame as its a lovely house that now looks tired and unloved by the owners. Considering you pay premium prices you expect a premium house. John Bray and the owners expect you to snag the house and spend your holiday time doing there job or they threaten to bill you for items you have not damaged or broken.

I am the owner and I am very sad to read this. I am working hard to get John Bray to maintain the house properly. It is vey sad that the standard has dropped so much. I hope you do return to Penny Liggan and it does not disappoint you. Regards Adele Property Owner

  • "Penny Logan is a lovely cottage but, I paid for it in full on the Monday before I arrived on the Thursday It was cold in February and we arrived to an ambient temperature of 13,5’C and I had two 80 year olds with me Excellent John Bray sent a man within 20 minutes to organise the central heating."

He had not been informed of our impending arrival but sorted the problem, or so we thought Unfortunately the system needed bleeding and the boiler pressure checking, which John Bray saw to the next morning. WE HAD A VERY UNCOMFORTABLE NIGHT. Not a very welcoming arrival, no instructions for the boiler either After the heating was sorted we had a very pleasant stay at the cottage

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by these issues on your first night with us but thankyou for your patience and understanding whilst we sorted them for you. Your comments have been passed on to the team at John Bray Cornish Holidays and to the owner. The property

Penny Liggan is a spacious, self-catering property close to Rock Beach and the Camel Estuary, on the North Cornwall coast.

An ideal holiday home for families and large groups, Penny Liggan has plenty of space for up to ten guests, with optional space for two further guests.

A dog-friendly abode, it offers laid back charm with a choice of living spaces to unwind in, along with mature gardens, which borrow wonderful views of the St Enodoc Golf Course and Stepper Point beyond.

The large open-plan kitchen and dining area offers a sociable space for both formal dining and relaxed lunches, flooded with natural light through the patio doors, which open onto an enclosed, sunken patio area and rockery.

Retire to this great little suntrap after dinner to enjoy a perfectly sheltered sundowner.

Overlooking the patio, a sitting area set under a glass ceiling is clearly the hub of the home and the ideal space to sit and read, or to chat while the kids run in and out of the garden.

A separate living room with large apex windows perfectly frame the view, where you can enjoy a board game or favourite movie as night falls.

Take your pick from a super-king-size, and a king-size bedroom, plus two twin bedrooms, all with shared use of two bathrooms.

A fifth bedroom with en-suite shower room offers a double bed, set on a mezzanine level (please note: this bedroom has restricted head height).

When you’re ready to explore, take the footpath from Penny Liggan to the beach or head to the shops in Rock village; with a butcher, baker, fishmonger, deli, grocery store and clothing shops, you can stock up or indulge in some retail therapy without having to travel too far.

Take your pooch for a long walk on Rock's golden beach; walk along the banks of the estuary and soak up the incredible views, or head into the dunes towards Daymer Bay and Polzeath beyond.

If you fancy a daytrip, then hop on the foot ferry to Padstow to explore its pretty harbour.

If you're feeling energetic then why not try cycling the Camel Trail (a flat cycle trail suitable for all the family), waterskiing, wakeboarding, or even hire a sailing dinghy or stand-up paddle board and hit the water!

For dining out there are excellent choices on offer with lots of restaurants and cafes on both sides of the water, and if you stay out late, catch the water taxi home, against a backdrop of twinkling lights for a truly memorable end to the night.

Plan your next break with a stay at Penny Liggan.
