  • "The property was damp the baby's cot was a travel cot not a cot, the high chair was filthy, couldn't use tge wardrobes they were smelling and damp , there were cob webs all over, we left the property early due to this."

I complained to Sykes holidays because we had no photos they dismissed it.very unhappy would not use again

Thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry that you felt a travel cot wasn't adequate for your stay. This is a small barn and as such a full size cot for use on a handful of occasions wouldn't work for the space. The barn has been lovingly restored and has an air purifier fitted into the property. The weather has been unusually wet this year and has caused the back cupboard to become slightly damp. This is being dealt with. This cupboard is submerged at the back of the building and is problematic in extremely wet weather. I inspected the contents of the cupboard and nothing was filthy. I stay in the barn myself occasionaly and certainly wouldn't if it was dirty. I'm extremely happy with our cleaners from Sykes Cottages as it's always lovely on arrival. Due to the location being in the countryside, it's only natural that the odd cobweb will appear throughout your stay. I'm sorry this upset you. Michelle Property Owner

  • "Had a great family holiday in this very cosy cottage."

Lovely touch by the owner and a big thanks for the scones, cream, jam, biscuits and milk on arrival. Nice quiet area and perfect for families. The only negative comment would be the rear bedroom cupboards are very damp and equipment left by owner such as baby high chair & ironing board etc. were all covered in mould and I would not recommend hanging any clothes in this cupboard.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are delighted to hear you had a great family holiday and enjoyed the cream tea. The rear bedroom cupboards mentioned, are used for storage, so thank you for bringing this to our attention, as we will be speaking to housekeeping to ensure that this is checked on every visit. The back of the cupboard had suffered some damp due to the extreme wet weather, the rear of the barn is submerged. We have plans to completely refurbish this cupboard and have an air purifier fitted into the hall ceiling to constantly refresh the circulation. We're extremely sorry for any upset that this may have caused. This is being dealt with. Property Owner

  • "Every thing was okay except the key code you gave us was wrong to get into the property, had to get someone to come from reception, it took 3 goes on the third code it opened."

Hi Janet, I'm really pleased that you all enjoyed your stay in our barn. Unfortunatly, the key code had been set by Cornish cottage holidays, they fully manage our barn as we live in Warwickshire. Therefore, I pass on our apologies as this should not have happened. I totally understand your frustration after a long drive in particular, you just want to get in and relax. We would welcome you back again to our barn in the future. KR Michelle Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful week away at the old piggeries!"

It was extremely clean and literally everything you could ask for. The master bed was sooo comfortable ( if the owners see this please tell me the brand of mattress) the grounds are very well kept although we didn’t use Kenegie facilities as we had amazing adventures around the local national trust places. Can’t wait to come back again, soon hopefully! Thank you

Hi Richard We're delighted that you enjoyed your stay in our barn. All of the mattresses are new and are called 'Total Relief Memory Foam Mattress'. Aspire furniture. We have invested a lot of time and love into making the barn a lovely base for exploring this beautiful part of Cornwall, You're welcome back anytime. Thanks. Michelle Property Owner

  • "A lovely well catered accommodation, we really enjoyed our stay."

There needs to be a note informing guests of location of the emersion heater switch is in an obscured location! A king size bed would have been a bonus.

Thank you for your feedback, we are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. We will look into the points you have mentioned. We hope to see you back again soon. Property Owner

About the location

GULVAL

Penzance 1.5 miles.

Gulval is a village in the former Penwith district of Cornwall. Although historically a parish in its own right, Gulval was incorporated into the parishes of Penzance, Madron and Ludgvan in 1934, and like Heamoor, is now considered to be a suburb of Penzance. Gulval, however, still maintains its sense of charm and parts of the village church date back to the 12th century. Other features in the village include the 1910 granite drinking fountain in the centre of the square and the Coldstreamer Inn, allegedly one of the oldest. A charming collection of Victorian houses and cottages are also dotted around what was the village square. Why not wander into the centre of Penzance, appreciated for its abundance of palm trees and gardens full of sub-tropical plants, a sure sign that you have arrived somewhere unique. Also people can visit the surfing beaches of Sennen Cove, Porthcurno. Placed of interedt would also be Minack Theatre, St Michaels mount, Poldark country, Mousehile etc making great days out to enjoy
