10 Customer Reviews

  • "Lovely home to stay in, and Truro is a good location to explore Cornwall."

The house was comfortable and well equipped. It has a lovely garden too. Our little feedback comments would be that the wifi was a little weak, and we found the beds too soft, esp in the ensuite bedroom, but that wouldn't put us off visiting again. We really enjoyed our first visit to beautiful Cornwall.

  • "Hi Firstly we found the cottage in a great location truro is a lovely place and the cottage is a great base."

For the amount of money we paid, we were very disappointed to arrive to the smell of damp. The house was very cold with old fashioned storage heaters that were switched off. The level of cleanliness was poor to say the least. The kitchen was so small it was barely usable and as a result we generally ate out. We accept a certain standard and this was way below what we expected for the amount of money we paid.

  • "Great location and facilities, it was nice to have a home away from home rather than a couple of caravans elsewhere."

Truro is a lovely place and it was a nice walk into town. Location very close drives to other areas and beeches. Great spacious house, Me and my mate banged our heads a few times with the low ceilings which can't be helped. Only slight negative is check in time is very late compared to anywhere else. So as we set off at 4am to try miss alot of traffice, there was a lot of waiting around first day. But we packed a day bag and went honeywell bay. So we planned best we could(Appriciate cornwall isn't the easiest of drives around for cleaners) thank you very much for a fantastic stay.

  • "The property is comfortable and the rooms are clean and spacious for our family of seven."

The dining table was great for board games but also allowed meals to be set without the packing away. The ground floor bathroom and side entrance is ideal for when you enter the property with your dog. The cream tea hand made scones and dog treats was a kind welcome gift. The kitchen had all we needed to prepare meals though the knifes need sharpening and some of the ceramics were chipped. The property could do with double glazing you can feel a draft from around the window panes. Also the door in the dining room could do with a draft ceal. This was a real issue as when we arrived the first night we were not aware that the storage heaters had been turned off prior so the property was cold and the following day when we turned them on we had no heat, naturally we turned them up but then only found that we would wake in the night as the property had become unbearable hot. We reported to the caretakers over the weekend but did not get a response until Monday. We also raised our concerns that the hot water would only be on for the morning which when you have 7 occupants 3 teenagers that water would not last long and the only response we received was that a larger water tank had been requested from the owner. The Internet is a nightmare as it is only a mobile sim we ended up having to connect to a neighbors bt wifi as the connection kept dropping. The TV would not connect to any wifi I ended up buying a fire TV stick so that we could watch films in the evening. The garden is a good size but not enclose it would be fine but even though we abided to the sign on the gate to please close the gate, the neighbors on this plot I assume we're not the ones who installed this sign as they continued to leave it open. The short cut into the city was very useful and Truro is lovely, a nice selection of restaurants we enjoyed the cinema and would recommend if you like a welcoming retro environment. The house is a great base and would be ideal in great weather but when it's raining outside it lack our needs. We had a few other issues with a faulty light in the master bathroom and broken door knob in the kitchen but we're all rectified on the Monday by the caretakers.

  • "Really beautiful house."

Great location for an easy stroll into Truro. The only reason we gave this 4 stars is due to the really poor wifi. Practically un useable. As we were in Truro for work, good wifi is very important for us and resulted in us having to spend less time than we would’ve liked in this gorgeous house in search of wifi in town. Otherwise, no complaints.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We're pleased to hear your positive comments about 9 Copes Gardens. We take your views seriously and are looking into the WiFi issues you have mentioned. Property Owner

We only had to walk five minutes to the Spar and local pub and ten minutes to the town centre. We hope to go back next year.

  • "We had a lovely stay at 9 Copes Gardens."

The Cream Tea and dog treats were a wonderful touch and very welcome after a long journey. The house was exceptional clean, very well equipped and in a lovely quiet location perfect for exploring the wonderful local beaches and countryside. We really only have 2 comments which stopped a 5 star rating and that is 1. The garden is not secure for you to allow dogs off their lead, just a little fence each side of the house would solve this problem and allow occupants to relax, not worrying their dog could get out, and 2. The check in and check out times could be a bit longer. Check in at 5.30pm was a lot later than we have had before and having to leave by 9am meant a really early and rushed start to the day. Trying to get 8 people ready, have breakfast, get cars packed and then clean would have been easier with a bit more time. But all in all, thank you for a wonderful stay, we would definitely recommend this property.

  • "All in all this is a lovely property in a great location in Truro."

However, it just needs some tender loving care. When we arrived on a Saturday evening (and you cannot have access until 5.30 pm, yet must leave at 9 am the following Saturday which means that you really only have 6 full days) the house was stone cold. We called the caretaker Brian (who, along with his wife was very helpful) and he said that the storage heaters would come on overnight. They did, but it would have been nice if they had been put on the day before. Also, the towel rail in the en-suite didn’t work and the light and expelair in the en-suite was temperamental as well. The shower in the second upstairs bathroom also leaked into the kitchen which meant that from Thursday we had to stop using that bathroom. A lot of the mugs and plates were also chipped. On the plus side, there’s a garden for dogs (not completely enclosed though) and a back gate which cuts the walk to the town in half and provides access to a field to walk your dogs. As a base for Cornwall, it’s excellent, it just needs some work. Restaurant wise try The Rising Sun in Truro. Takeaway fish and chips from Sole Plaice and coffee at Lili’s. And if you are booking through Sykes Cottages to get BA Avios points, don’t bother because they will refuse to pay them. Use another booking site instead.

Thank you for your feedback, great to hear our caretaker resolved the heating issue for you. We have now provided clearer instructions on how to switch on the water heating booster to help future guests. The minor issues as mentioned have now been resolved by our team of 2 full time caretakers. Property Owner

  • "Property is very well equipped especially in the kitchen."

Lounge is on the cosy side for a large group. Some of our group did not like the 'soft' top mattresses but that is personal taste, i loved it.. We had an issue on arrival as the heating had been turned off but Brian answered our call and sent someone out within half an hour and we were very warm for the rest of the week (good old English weather!).
