  • "Accept it’s an old property and aren’t fazed by cob webs etc , however on a noisy road - need secondary glazing didn’t sleep and ended up sleeping in the back bedroom in single beds!"

Sofa & carpets need steam cleaning Annoying cars from neighbours parking on pavement meant it was tricky to enter / exit the property. If there more than one car staying at the property might be a challenge. Garden was lovely, if you could get over the constant traffic noise. Birdies Cafe well worth a visit & Badger & Water Mill pub nice , Old Quay Inn very friendly with great views.

  • "I asked several times before travelling down as to whether there was a iron and ironing board in the house as i had a family event to attend."

Also, as the listing mentioned a pond but didn't show any images i asked if it was covered or safe with dogs about. I heard nothing back on either of these points. There was an iron and an ironing board but the board didn't have a cover. As for the pond, really think the word pond is stretching it. It was a large puddle in a stone. My dog liked to drink from it though which i discouraged him from obviously. The garden itself was lovely and well kept. Spent many a chilled hour. It has sun all day and really is a treat for this part of Cornwall. The house was like visiting your grandparents house. It had a real family owned feel, and was generally fine. There are lots of spiders but that didn't bother us. Really think though that a double bed rather than two singles in the backroom away from traffic noise would be an idea. There was dirty linen in a bag in the bathroom, and might have brought back some creepy crawlies with us but not sure if that came from the house. I loved the kitchen feel, and liked the way you could open up the door to the garden. Equipment wise it was all fine, feel the TV could do with an upgrade. All in all at the right price we would return!

  • "Review of Boundys House Whilst we appreciate that the building is listed we felt that the state of some of the facilities and the cleanliness left a lot to be desired."

The huge crack in the kitchen sink is surely a hygiene issue as is the lack of grouting between the tiles in both the bathroom and the toilet. The entrance porch had that many cobwebs that it looked like it not been cleaned in a while. The level of dust (and in some cases dead flies) on the sash windows told a similar story. The top of the cooker hood had a layer of grease on it – when you consider how often guests use the cooker (the guest book is full of comments about guests eating out) this cannot have been cleaned for a long time. This lack of attention to maintenance and cleaning shows something of a disrespect to guests.

  • "Shower fixings broken, sofa dirty and musty smell throughout the house."

Very difficult to ventilate the house and dead flies, wasps and spiders webs around windows so needs a thorough clean. Train station close but one/two trains a day so pretty pointless. Location good in general but the car access is difficult due to parked vehicles blocking visibility. Probably wouldn’t stay again due to the above.

  • "We enjoyed our stay in Boundys House and will be rebooking to stay again!"

Our dogs loved the garden, and it was lovely to be able to enjoy meals outside and the facilities are very comfortable which is just what you need for a relaxing stay! It is a character house, but we did feel that cleanliness could be improved as there was lots of cobwebs on surfaces such as fireplaces, cupboards and ceilings. We did have a car blocking our driveway on one day and reading the comments by a previous occupant where they were continually blocked in or out, it may be worth the owner putting a notice on the gates that they are in constant use as this does seem to be an ongoing issue.

  • "Although the cottage was in a good location the road it was on was extremely busy."

People parked vans outside the windows each day and night therefore could not open the blinds as there was no privacy. The vans being parked there also made it difficult to see when driving off the driveway onto the busy main road. Not very clean, used cotton wool pad in the wardrobe. Cobwebs through out the cottage (I appreciate that it is an old building but a quick check would of rectified this) Kitchen window would not open. Dishwasher had been left on and we walked into suds all over the kitchen floor so we had to mop the floor before we could bring anything in from the car. It's a pretty, quirky cottage that just needs tweaking and better detail to cleaning. I wouldn't stay there again due to the lack of privacy and the the busy road that's not to say that I wouldn't recommend it as it does have a lovely garden at the rear and the location is good.

  • "Cottage was gorgeous, garden beautiful and our dog loved it."

Location brilliant and local restaurants were lively. Upstairs windows didn't open and it got very hot and be very aware of the busy road outside the cottage with younger children and dogs.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback which we have discussed with the owner. Repairs to the windows are scheduled over the winter, due to the property being a listed building the windows are bespoke and crafted workmen have been difficult to source during covid. The listing mentions that the property is situated on the main road and of course care is needed with younger children and dogs. We are really pleased to hear you enjoyed Boundys House. Windows at the back did not open and the back bedroom was airless because of this . Hot tap over bath wobbles . Electric shower light flashes even after we changed the bulb . Rusty ill fitting front gates that one of our party cut herself on . The garden was really lovely and we were able to make good use of it and very safe for the dogs .

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback We do have a window on order to be handmade in line with the building regulations. Full size fans are provided in all the bedrooms. Electrician aware of flashing shower light, and has indicated it is not a hazard. Pleased you enjoyed the garden. Property Owner

Very comfortable beds ,nice hot shower. Well equipped kitchen and nice dining room and comfortable lounge. Lovely large garden all enclosed and gated. Lelant is very accessible on public transport to St Ives 15 min bus journey 2 min walk to bus stop or train station. Nice restaurant walking distance called The Old Forge excellent food very popular. Parking for 2 cars but very busy road and cars tend to be going faster than 30 limit when your trying to reverse. Despite this we did feel lucky to be staying in the cottage in such a very popular area after the easing of the lockdown and did very much enjoy our holiday .

  • "Boundys House was wonderful even though on a very busy main road."

It had masses of space downstairs and a lovely garden. Beds were very comfortable. What was missing was inability to open windows (apart from the front bedroom which I occupied, and the toilet) as they seem to have been painted over. I always have to sleep with the window open so I could achieve that but the bathroom and other two bedrooms had sealed windows. The kitchen was very well equipped and there was plenty of crockery and cutlery and everything essential for cooking. We arrived by train so were using public transport to get around and it was so easy for us with the bus stops just yards from the house. We did find it a bit strange that only one toilet roll was supplied for 3 of us for 1 week! Clearly not anywhere near enough. I had requested ahead of our visit for a hairdryer and was told that it would be taken out of the locked area for me, and indeed it was there on arrival.

  • "The house was very well equipped, with everything you would need."

Brilliant position near St Ives and very importantly near the railway station, which we made a lot of use of. Also the 2 parking spaces were invaluable. The shower was brilliant !! A nice lot of room with different rooms to choose from. Bedrooms nice and big with ample space. However i feel it would be prudent to add to the listing that the head height in some of the house goes down to about 5' 6 inches and at its max 6 foot ish, therefore anybody taller than that, i.e. myself at 6' 3, would find themselves ducking when moving around the house and a feeling of being a little hemmed in. Secondly the decor could do with updating and there is evidence of water staining quite extensively in the dining room ceiling. The garden could have done with a tidy up. Having said that we enjoyed our holiday in Cornwall but probably wouldn't return to that particular property.

  • "Cottage very clean, spacious and well provisioned."

Ideal location for bus and train. Some negative points: 1. Info says parking for three cars - this is very optimistic; only one car fits inside gates, another behind, but that’s it. It would need to be three very, very small cars! Parking outside cottage tends to be used by other drivers. 2. Only one toilet in very small room with a cistern that takes a very long time to refil - would be very frustrating with six people staying. 3. Cottage is right on busy and noisy road and other people tend to park their cars outside windows, blocking light. Despite above however, we enjoyed our stay and would consider booking again.
