The cottage is well appointed, comfortable, practical and well maintained. Dogs are well catered for and the local beach is wonderful - in all weathers!

Firstly the information leaflet was not up to date with confusing instructions, eg how to use the TV system as there was no additional file on the shelf above the TV as suggested in the info file. Secondly, on our arrival it was rather chilly and we thought to light the wood burner but no logs in the scuttle! As for comfort. Please try the very soft mattress. NOT comfortable. Otherwise a very pleasant stay. Thank you

  • "Great, comfortable and well appointed cottage situated no more than an easy 10 min walk away from possibly the best dog beach we've ever found."

Friends described the pictures as looking like the Caribbean! Only needed the car once in the whole week for a trip to the supermarket as the nearest shops just a bit too far to walk with shopping on a hot day but managed on foot for the bulk of the time. A train trip to St Ives only taking 8 mins and costing less than parking. Dog friendly accommodation near a dog beach is surprisingly hard to find and one this good is like gold.

We rent a cottage most years and felt the welcome package could have been little better for the price paid, (pint of skimmed milk). Cottage was cleaned to a fair standard but felt the lawns could have been mowed and there was a bag of dog poo left by the bins. When stripping the sheets to depart the property we noticed the duvets/pillows supplied were stained and looked dirty. Saying that the cottage although was very charming and the surrounding/location was superb.

Hi We are sorry the lawn wasn't mown however this is weather dependant and mown weekly The duvets have been replaced although no stains were found on the double Property Owner

It has absolutely everything you and in the best location possible. It was so clean and cosy. A stones throw from the local pub and a 10 minute walk to a very quiet beach. We took our dog and the garden was more than big enough and they even had dog bowls to use. Bus stop into St Ives is a 2 minute walk away. The house is in a quiet spot but a great location between St Ives and Hayle. We’re already looking at booking this property for next year because it was amazing. I know there isn’t guaranteed parking but we never had a problem the whole time we were there. Cannot fault anything.

So close (but not so it effects the peace of the cottage) to the train shuttle back and forth to St Ives & the bus route - we only used our car once during our week stay. There are great facilities & it is clear that the owners have thought long & hard about what is needed for a comfortable stay. It was lovely having the little well tended garden. Lelant is a great village and Porthkidney Sands just a short walk away is breathtaking! The bathroom was fantastic, the underfloor heating was a real bonus to keep it dry. We were disappointed that there wasn’t any recycling facilities, we even walked up to Tesco at Carbis Bay with our plastic, cardboard & glass but there wasn’t anything there either. A footstool would be idea in the lounge just for that extra bit of comfort! Some confusion about check-in & out times, the listing differs from the email received and the guest books differs again. 3pm check in and 10am check out would be ideal as 5.30pm & 9.30am takes a whole day of your holiday away.

  • "Recently returned from my third visit to the lovely Pippin."

This cottage is cosy, well equipped, and in a great location with a very pretty garden. However, I noticed that the general cleaning standards have slipped since my last visit. Bathroom and kitchen floors weren't clean, light bulb above microwave not working + I couldn't find a spare, also needed to replace mattress protector as stained. Some dust and hair in certain areas, usually hidden areas. Overall, the cottage felt a bit grubby with a lack of attention to detail, and as mentioned in a previous review, this lovely cottage deserves better, so I hope these comments will be noted. I always have a great time at the Pippin, but unsure about returning at the moment. Small welcome pack would have been nice.

Thank you for taking the time to complete and send in your feedback. We want to re-assure you that all issues have been addressed with the housekeepers. We had a wonderful week. The bed was so comfy and there are some fantastic walks close by. It was also spotless. We were disappointed by the food in the Badger Inn, but we enjoyed other close-by restaurants. I would suggest that the check-in times be clearer. On this website, it says 5:30pm, which we thought was late for the time of year to be arriving in the dark. However, in the information pack, it mentions 3pm. We also couldn't work the towel rail in the bathroom, which meant it was a bit cold in there. Nevertheless, a great stay.

Struggled to park Not the cleanest Bed uncomfortable Sofas very uncomfortable Plates didn't fit in microwave Toilet didn't flush very well No recycling

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. The Owners will discuss this with their cleaners. As advertised: there is roadside parking available but this can't always be immediately outside the cottage. The toilet does flush if the button is operated centrally. Others find the beds and sofas very comfortable but but of course this is a matter of personal preference. The owners have opted not to recycle as people often leave the bags on the road or forget to put them outside on the correct days. There are containers and dishes that fit in the microwave therefore food can be transferred to the plate, once heated. Property Owner

However, the overall cleanliness was very poor and I needed to clean the shower and toilet area before feeling comfortable in using it. There was a fair amount of dust and cobwebs in various places and the kitchen cupboards were dirty. Having said this, I had a great time, and felt that this cute cottage had been let down by the cleaning standards. • "Upon arrival after 8 hour journey we arrived 15 minutes after check in time to find the cleaner was still there!"

We had to return 30 minutes later. After gaining entry the whole house absolutely stank of fish! This lasted for 2 days. The floors had not been mopped, we found the previous customers had left a dirty towel, their used soap and a travel cot in the main bedroom by our bed, the box downstairs in the living room. There were used tissues behind the bin in the bedroom. The garden was in dire need of a good cut and tending to. While Pippin is in a good location the house itself is very dark downstairs and very small. Upon reading the guest book it appears previously that the owners had left a welcome pack of which there was none to be seen and would have been a very welcoming gesture. Overall we were very disappointed and sadly we would not return. It felt as though the owners had forgotten that we were coming at all!

Thank you for taking the time to comment. We are sorry that the property wasn’t ready upon your arrival. In light of Covid-19 we have had to adjust our arrival times to allow the cleaners extra time and our apologies if you did not receive the notification advising of this. We check this property regularly and it has always received good cleanliness scores in the past (as can be seen by the other feedback displayed) and we are sorry if it did not meet your expectations on this occasion. The garden of the property is maintained every Friday so we were surprised to hear that you felt it was in dire need of attention. Following receipt of your review we visited the property in order to check upon it and can happily confirm that we found it to be clean and in good order throughout. At present we are unable to supply a cream tea welcome pack as we would have done in the past but we still provide a starter cleaning pack, toilet roll etc and we hope to be in a position to present fresh goods in the not too distant future. We are sorry to hear that you will not be returning to Pippin but would like to reassure future customers that Pippin is as advertised and we have every confidence you will enjoy your holiday here. !! No drainer to dry pots on if you wanted to handwash. Plus side, lovely garden, outside tap, Badge Inn across the road was lovely, and great train access to St Ives. Cleanliness - sofas were covered in dog hairs, and absolutely stank of wet dog. I hoovered them after we arrived and left the rugs covering them in the corner all week which made it a bit better. Leaflets in the basket were years old, the window in the kitchen was so dirty on the inside you could right your name in it, Whilst checking around when we were leaving, under the sofa was also full of 'tumbleweed doghairs', and 3 draws upstairs were full of someone else's clothes from a previous visitor!!! Not great housekeeping standards, I appreciate it was dog friendly, but not everyone has dogs and surely it should be cleaned properly and deeply after customers!! Its not difficult to hoover under a sofa as opposed to round it. Would not recommend the cottage because of this, and we noticed there are other comments in the visitor book regarding same issues.
