  • "Fantastic holiday cottage in a gorgeous location."

Couldn’t have had a better week with family. Sun shone too! The only small thing was the BBQs weren’t cleaned out from previous guests and the garden furniture was rotten so hardly used. The property management acted extremely quickly to a dodgy tap in the master bathroom so we were chuffed with that. Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are very pleased to hear that you and your family enjoyed staying at Albany, and that you were happy with our property management services. We are sorry that you experienced some cleanliness issues regarding the BBQs, from previous guests. Your comments will be raised to our maintenance team - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "Lovely decor."

Fully equipped kitchen. Lovely place with all the amenities, but for older people getting up the stairs, with luggage, is a challenge and the approach to the patio difficult. As lovely as the town is, the steep streets and lack of cell service for taxis made it most difficult to get around. We were disappointed at lack of response to a key problem we had reported.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you found accessibility a struggle in both the property and in Port Isaac All of your comments have been passed on to the team here at John Bray Cornish Holidays and we apologise for the lack of response on our side. We hope you still managed to enjoy your visit despite these issues and would love to welcome you back to North Cornwall in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. • "We had a great time."

However; Freezer broken and fridge door loose. Cold tap in main bathroom broken No information left in house so we had to work everything out from scratch However some of the details where great: Like logs for fire, soap by all the sinks.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back anytime in the future. We will raise those issues to the maintenance team to inspect. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "Lovely stay although there had been a quite bad leak in the downstairs toilet previously so the kitchen was very smelly for the duration of our stay although eased when we opened the windows."

The boiler had also lost pressure so no hot water or showers for our first morning but was quickly rectified by John Bray on notifying them. Great location and the added bonus of a parking space available for use makes this a great cottage.

  • "Hi, we loved our stay at Albany in Port Isaac."

The cottage is stunning, very comfortable and had all the facilities we needed. Position is perfect although as we expected it is on a steepish road and loading/unloading due to the very small parking area at the front wasn't too easy. I would like to point out 3 small things : 1. The downstairs toilet has a very slight damp smell and we realised that when you step on the boards there is a 'squelching' sound which made us think there could be water underneath them. Similarly the floorboards below the fridge seems to have some water seeping on them from underneath the fridge, this may or may not be connected to the problem in the toilet as the fridge is on the other side of the wall. 2. The very upstairs shower - the water doesn't drain away very quickly, this may need looking at. 3. We appreciated the beautiful weather we had whilst we were there however the upstairs bedrooms were very hot, the duvet covers were winter tog and there were no fans available. we realise you can open the windows but fans and lighter duvets would be a good idea. The above isn't in any way a criticism of the cottage, it is very beautiful and I would definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family.

Thank you for your lovely comments regarding your stay. I will ask our maintenance team to have a look at the issues you mentioned. We very much look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "A beautiful cottage in a great location."

The instructions for arrival were easy to follow, but the car park is about a 1 minute walk not 10 mins as specified, so really no problem at all although very tight spaces so a bigger car than our Tesla may struggle. (EV chargers in nearby car park though so we parked there some of the time.) It would be useful to have instructions for how to work the hob as this was not intuitive, but for anyone reading this - the knob moves and you have to move it over the image of the ring you want to turn on to get that ring to work. Once we worked this out it was easy to use. A great cottage and we would happily visit again. Nicely furnished and comfortable beds.

  • "Lovely home and very clean, issue with amenities, or lack thereof."

For a premium holiday rental we would expect suitable amounts of dish cloths, toilet paper, dishwasher tablets, some coffee and tea, maybe some fresh milk, and shower gel / shampoo. A great place and great location but just seemed quite sanitised without these items and for a very small cost these would have made it feel more premium and homely.

Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased you found the home so lovely and clean. We're sorry if you found the amenities lacking; we do leave a basic 'starter' pack - toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets - but the property is otherwise self-catering. • "Albany is a beautiful townhouse that is conveniently located at the top of Fore Street."

It felt like a real home from home. It was a shame the weather wasn’t great, otherwise we would have made full use of the garden and it’s views across the sea. Unfortunately there was a slight problem with the plumbing which meant that we had to stay in another cottage for our first night, but Helen and Ian in particular were both incredibly helpful in minimising any disruption. Thank you and we look forward to returning next year.

  • "Booking through Sykes Cottages was efficient and they were helpful with my enquiries about parking and pets."

The cottage itself was in a good location near the centre although loading and unloading was tricky as this is a narrow one way busy street with no direct parking so you have to be very quick and organised! We didnt have a problem and the parking space five minutes away was easy to find with clear instructions. Fresh, modern, tasteful decor and the kitchen was very well equipped, very clean. It felt like a house that was used by owners themselves so was very comfortable and had pretty much everything you would need for a stay. We had a lovely week there and would not hesitate to book again if we were returning to Port Isaac. Only downside was having to be out of the property so early! A 9am departure is hard!

Thank you so much for your feedback and comments. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Albany and would love to welcome you back once again. Regarding the checkout time, this has now been moved to 9.30am and will be reevaluated down the line again. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "This was our second stay at Albany."

The house is so lovely and in a great location. Everything was nice and clean and in good condition. Nice and tranquil and captures the vibe of Cornwall. I would definitely stay here again. The only reason I wouldn’t give this property a 5 out of 5 is because it doesn’t have its own parking space and you have to use the public car park. For loading and unloading the car you have to stop in the road outside the house and it’s a single lane one way road so there’s pressure to be quick. However if you had a city size car like a smart car or fiat 500 I believe you’d fit on the patio at the front of the house.

Thank you for your feedback. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Parking is available at an extra cost as it states on the website, and further details of the parking space was within their travel directions and booking confirmation. Property Owner

  • "Albany was a lovely cottage in a great location."

We feel that it needs a deep clean as areas were very dusty. The floors were not particularly clean, when we wiped them ourselves the cloths were brown . There were no oven gloves & only 1 tea towel provided which is insufficient for a weeks stay. On a positive note the beds were super comfy & the showers perfect. We loved the roll top bath! We reported a problem with a TV not working & were impressed that it was fixed that day. Overall a lovely stay.

Thank you for writing to us about your stay. However, we are sorry to hear that you did not have a positive experience. We take cleanliness seriously and will instruct our housekeeping to be more attentive in the future.
