  • "A lovely cottage in a brilliant location, only a minutes walk to the centre of the village, (and just yards from some of the Doc Martin locations if that what you’re in to)."

We had a fabulous week with our dog Merlin, enjoying the beaches, walks, pubs and restaurants in the area, Nearly all are dog friendly). Great communication from the owner, Would certainly go again.

So glad you had a great time Simon, you are welcome back anytime, we have just released all the available weeks for 2025 too. Regards Martin Beese Property Owner

  • "Really lovely cottage and well placed to either explore Port Isaac or to head down to Port Gaverne."

Do heed (very clear) warnings re the archway you need to go under and the size of the garage if you have a larger/taller than average car. Cottage was cosy, very comfortable and extremely well equipped. The garden was lovely too - great to sit in and have breakfast or an evening drink. Overall - no complaints at all - we had a really enjoyable stay at Beehive Cottage and would thoroughly recommend it.

Thank you so much for your comments. We love hearing just how much you enjoyed your stay! Hopefully we can welcome you back again in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "Make sure visitors know there’s no toilet upstairs!"

And a saucepan brush was needed, plus kitchen roll, cling film etc. Otherwise gorgeous and very comfortable and a lovely position. Lovely weekend. Thanks.

Hi Alison firstly we are really pleased you enjoyed the Beehive and PI. Just on the no toilet upstairs feedback I am not sure what more you could suggest we do as the details on the JB website clearly states that we have a “ground floor shower room and WC” there is also a floor plan at the bottom of the website booking details showing as such. On the kitchen items, when we decided after Covid to renew our condiments cupboard for our valued guests which hopefully you saw and used as it is stacked full of all those cooking items you may only use once but don’t wish to buy a whole jar of such as spices, Worcestershire Sauce, Fish Sauce, olive Oil, Marmite and of course Coffee, Sugar Tea for that all important arrival we had always hoped that when something ran out the guest would not mind topping the supplies back up again just of that one item for the free use of all the other good stuff,,, hopefully a good strategy and the “Ode to the Beehive” notice on the cupboard door is the prompt. Thanks again for your valued feedback and we really do hope that you can enjoy all that the Beehive has to offer again in the future. Regards Martin & Alison Beese Property Owner

We had everything that we could have possibly wanted and everything was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed several meals out in port Isaac with lots of choice and good quality fresh food. The directions were spot on and when the sun shone it was difficult to imagine a nicer place. We would highly recommend beehive cottage when visiting the area.

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed staying at beehive cottage, a lovely space and an amazing view just outside of the front door."

Your inter rental cleaner was extremely helpful and did an excellent job before we arrived. A few points that are not criticisms, but we feel just might help future visitors. 1. A better descriptive from the main road to the cottage, with some pictures. 2. A wooden enclosure for the recycling and general waste, so they’re not so prominent on the patio. 3. We used to live in a coastal towns, so we know what seagulls are like. A jet wash of the patio would have been nice as there was quite a lot of seagull poo on the tiles which our dogs were overly interested in.

  • "Beehive cottage what can I say, the perfect location and very well equipped with everything you would need for your stay and more."

Our only small little quibble which put a small dampener to our holiday was on our last full day we planned to have a nice layin and lazy day but was rudely awaken just after 9am by the gardeners who came in blasting a leaf blower and then proceeded to wash the patio and patio furniture down which sadly meant we couldn't enjoy our breakfast outside as we couldn't use the patio set, it would have been nice to have know they where coming, also as we had a dog with us it's just a good job that when they turned up she wasn't in the garden.

Please accept our apologies for the last morning Helen we will ask the gardener to be more sympathetic in future especially before 10am on the changeover day. We hope otherwise everything for your Beehive stay was perfect Property Owner

The stairs were awkward for my partner as she has a back problem. I am active but I also had to be careful going down. The bathroom is in need of extraction. After showers the walls ran with moisture. Yes you could open the window but that was often blew shut. Parking will always be an issue in Port Isaac. Beehive offers parking but it is tight and needs a competent driver to manoeuvre in and out. The smaller the car you have the better.

2 minute walk & you are standing on the seas edge. We love Port Isaac! Cottage was very cosy, very clean & had everything you need. With parking onsite, this a cottage we will certainly stay at again. We had the smallest of issues with our heater running out of gas but John Bray could not of been more reactive to sorting this for us. Maintenance man, Paul I think, even gave us some pointers as to new places to visit, Charlestown is certainly a nice quiet place to visit. Basically everything was perfect!

Every need was catered for. We were lucky with the weather so it was great to have a garden and a bbq to use. A big added bonus was the garage/parking. A rarity in Port isaac especially when so close to the sea. Lovely and clean and the beds were so comfortable. Perfect for a memorable family holiday. We've been coming to Port Isaac for many years and this is by far the best home we've stayed in.

Thank you Darren for your very kind words about the Beehive it means a lot to us that we are able to share it with people who get the same buzz as we do from being right at the heart of the beautiful village that is Port Isaac, the alfresco dining patio and bbq are new this year so also glad you were able to make the most of all the facilities. • "We enjoyed our stay at Beehive cottage but this is our 2nd visit to Cornwall to properties managed by John Bray and on both occasions the levels of cleanliness and supply of basic supplies has been poor."

Last year we fed back and received what appeared to be a generic response. This year we read reviews in advance and in one particular one it was mentioned that no toilet rolls had been supplied, a basic requirement one would think. But similarly we found the same issue, so clearly you as agents had not taken action following the review. Again it was the same last year. This, along with one bin bag, 2 dishwasher tabs, dirty outside area (simple sweep required) and general cleanliness at a low standard, are not good enough to be honest. Also your representative arrived at the property bang on 4 pm to do the pre let check at the same time as we arrived at the property and simply said she would not check the property as we had arrived and 'it is usually OK'. We have stayed in many UK holiday accommodations and I would say your standards are low and need improving.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback from your stay at Beehive Cottage. We have since spoken on the phone about the issues raised. We are sorry the cleaning standards were not as you or we would expect. We should be providing basic starter packs (a toilet roll for each bathroom, a couple of dishwasher tablets and bin bags) so are sorry this did not meet your needs. We have passed your comments to the housekeeping team who will raise it with the cleaning company. We do hope that we get the opportunity to welcome you back to Cornwall in the future. • "I loved Beehive Cottage."

It had everything I needed for my weeks stay. The garage was an added bonus, just taking a couple of times to really get the hang of the space, but was really useful. I had a MINI Countryman which I’d say is the largest sized car you’d want to attempt to park in. The garden was a beautiful space to chill in when I was done with exploring for the day. Inside, the main bedroom was super comfy and light and airy, with a lovely view. I’m funny about beds, and this one I slept in like a brick…unusual for me! Going to sleep listening to the waves was magical. The kitchen and living space was practical and clean. I would definitely love to return. It was my first time using Sykes Holidays/John Bray and the one bit of advice I’d give would be to arrange for a welcome pack; just something nice and practical to greet you to your holiday after a long drive. It would really add that touch of a warm welcome and personally I really noticed it’s absence having had something at all other companies I’ve used over the years. Other than that it suited my every need and I’m likely to book it again in the future. Nikki x

  • "Wonderful cottage in a perfect location."

Just returned from a week at Beehive Cottage and it was one of the nicest UK breaks we have been on. The cottage was lovely and well equipped, had everything we needed. The garden is much nicer than we expected as there are no pictures of it, but there should be as it's really nice and we sat out there most evenings. From the description you also don't realise that when you go out of the cottage, the view is spectacular and there really ahould be some pictures of this as well. We would definitely return. Port Isaac is a stunning place and this cottage is perfect to explore this region. My only criticism would be the instructions on how to get to the cottage. We misunderstood and tried to access it from the wrong end of the coastal path resulting in my husband scratching the front wing of the car as it's too narrow. Not the best start to the holiday, but it was OK once we got in the garden and opened a bottle of wine! Once we explored, we realised you access the garages by coming through the coastal car park, opening a barrier that says private road and the narrow entrance it tries to explain on the instructions is like a small underpass under some apartments, not the footpath on the coastal path from the other end near the front of the cottage. We did ask the neighbour, but she's clearly sick of tourists and simply pointed to the way we ended up trying to go! The garage is super tight- we've got a Jag and it only just fitted. We did say we should have brought the mini as it would have been much easier, but then we couldn't have fitted everything we brought in that or had a comfortable 6 hour drive! Anyway perfect holiday, just needs clearer instructions on how to get your car in and be aware that the seagulls will steal your bacon butty if you leave it unattended in the garden!

  • "We have been to Port Isaac before and loved the very central location of this splendid little cottage."

We love walking and walked straight out of the door and within a few steps we were on the Cornwall coastal path. There are some splendid pubs like the Golden Lion in Port Isaac and a lovely little pub in Port Gaverne within easy walking distance, good restaurants from the top priced but fabulous experience of Nathan Outlaws to the excellent Old School House and a few more cafe/restaurants too!. Excellent pasty shop towards the harbour. The Beehive has just about everything you need for a comfortable stay. The master bedroom is a good size with a birds eye view over the harbour towards Doc Martins fictional surgery. The stairs are a little steep but manageable and gives the ascent to bed some historic character and they are manageable. Kitchen was well equipped and the shower was excellent. Television was perfect, great picture and lots of channel choice. Garage parking is very welcome in Port Isaac. The garage entry approach becomes a knack after a day or so and we managed to park a Qashqai in there without much fuss. Terrific vacation and we look forward to returning again one day!

Thank you for your great feedback Dianne, we are so glad you enjoyed all that Port Isaac and the surrounding towns/villages has to offer and even more pleased that you liked the Beehive Cottage too. We try to keep it as fresh and new as possible this year we have added the Cornish slate patio area and the family table and chairs and new gas BBQ for a bit of Alfresco dinning,, hope to see you again sometime. regards Martin & Alison Beese Property Owner

There were three of us plus our little dog and it was the perfect size for us. In a beautiful spot with views of the harbour and literally less than a minute to walk down the hill into Port Isaac. Having a garage to park the car was a blessing as parking in Port Isaac is very limited. The cottage was beautifully clean and cosy and there were even Christmas decorations. Beds were comfy with lovely bedding; plenty of storage space in the bedrooms; a modern bathroom with good size walk-in shower; lovely kitchen area with plenty of utensils, etc. We wouldn't hesitate to come back here! The owner very kindly allowed us to have an extended weekend at the property. The SW Coastal goes past the front door so it is great for those who like walking. There are a number of excellent pubs/cafes/restaurants within easy walking distance as well. The property has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The master bedroom is airy and enjoys a sneak view of the sea. Although the stairs are a little steep, they are manageable. Kitchen was well equipped and was very much a home from home, with everything you could wish for in a holiday property. Garage parking is very handy in Port Isaac. The garage is a little tight but we managed to park an estate vehicle in there with little trouble. In summary a great location, a lovely well equipped cottage, and one we will book again.

We really enjoyed our visit. The owners had supplied everything to make our stay comfortable. It was very clean and beautifully presented. The shower and toilet is downstairs and the good sized bedrooms are reached via quite steep stairs. The cottage is perfectly positioned in the village, being only 3 mins into the centre for its shops and pubs. It is right beside the coastal path where you can walk into Port Gaverne. I would recommend this cottage.
