  • "We loved our stay at the absolutely beautiful cottage, perfectly located in the tranquil town of Port Isaac."

The house was perfect, from the well-sized garden with great views, to the cozy & comfy bedrooms, modern bathrooms and the kitchen that was beautiful and so well equipped. The smart TVs gave us access to Netflix, iPlayer, regular TV & all the heart desires, which was lovely to wind down to at the end of the day. The place was absolutely spotless & check-in & out were very smooth. A slightly later check-out time would be appreciated though. I highly recommend staying here, would rate this place 10/10 & would gladly stay again. I recommend packing some earplugs, as the seagulls are pretty noisy at night & you’ll be all set for a wonderful & comfy stay.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It's great to hear that you had such a fabulous stay and had the perfect base to explore the local area from. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "Unfortunately, we felt very disappointed with the stay and left after 5 nights in the property, having paid for 7."

We drove 7hours to get to the property and having stayed in many local self-catering homes within Port Issac, found it a shame that a welcome package was not offered, as all of the other properties we had stayed in offered one, that were also self-catering. On arrival, we were shocked to find that the cul-de-sac, the property dwelled within, was not as aesthetically pleasing, as we'd been led to believe and realised now, this is why you cannot see pictures of the front of the property. For us, it felt like a set of caravan esc homes than many other homes listed within the area. For the extremely high cost to rent the property for a week (July), we were not informed that this particular cul-de-sac housed a large collection of seagulls, which are protected animals. Thus realising during our stay that they housed themselves on the roof of the property. The noise of the constant squawk (day and night) along with the movement on the roof meant we managed very little sleep and therefore decided to vacate the property earlier than we had planned. Not forgetting, your car will be destroyed by the seagulls excrement. Positives for this property are that it has been done up well inside by the owner and was mostly clean throughout. The car parking space was small and directly outside the property, meaning that you saw your car outside the front windows but this did not bother us as much as the seagulls did. We therefore would not recommend this property and would not stay ourselves in this property again.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your stay. We're very sorry that you had to experience these issues during your visit. Welcome packs are down to the discretion of the owners. It is sad to hear that you did not like the exterior and the neighbouring area. We appreciate how frustrating the seagulls must have been. However, our hands are tied and there is nothing we can do about them. We hope we welcome you back to north Cornwall in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. • "The cottage is very well fitted out and has good facilities - especially if it is for two people visiting."

It is decorated to a very high standard. Its position makes access to the centre of Port Isaac very easy. Parking is not that easy unless you have a very small car. Some thoughts for improvements: a recycling bin in the kitchen - There is only one bin, which means that everything goes into it. Whilst there is a recycling bin outside, it makes life too difficult to separate and keep piles of rubbish in the kitchen ; Despite there being comments on the listing previously about the lack of information with regards the heating and water heating, there is still no information available. When we were on our break, it was cold and we needed to turn heating on and up. This proved very frustrating. Also, the hot water tank is quite small, especially if there were four people staying in the cottage ; No Cafetière - This would be a useful addition ; The time of access and departure does make it quite frustrating. Only being allowed into the cottage at 4 o’clock on the day of booking means that you cannot make best use of the facilities and area. And having to leave at 9 am makes it a very rushed departure. Given that these conditions were probably brought in during Covid, as a holiday management team, you should look at these timings. We would not book a cottage again with such restrictive access. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing a review of your stay at Mino Cottage. We are pleased to hear that you were impressed with the facilities, decor and location of the cottage. Your comments are noted and in response we can elaborate that check in/out times are standard practice across the industry for insurance purposes and are also in place to allow time for housekeeping to fulfil the required duties. • "We have been visiting Port Isaac for over 10 years and this is the best place we have stayed in."

We feel so grateful to have been able to stay at this beautiful cottage. I struggle with the cleanliness and decor of properties we stay in, but this is the first time I have felt comfortable and at ease. We slept so well aside from the nesting seagulls. The property is beautiful and wonderfully decorated. There was the added bonus of the outdoor space. Even better that we got to sit out there with the recent spell of nice weather. Watching the sunset was incredible. The cottage was nice and clean. Fresh bedding and towels. Everything was thought of. No food left in cupboards. Ideal. Thank you very much.

  • "We had a problem with working out the heating when we arrived."

It was cold inside the property and there were no instructions about how to turn the heating on or what type of heating it was. We called the emergency number and a rep came round and explained it all. It has underfloor heating but there is no mention in the book and no instructions. We recommended that the rep should make sure these are written in the book for other visitors.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by these issues. Your comments have been passed on to the team here at John Bray Cornish Holidays and we will look to get some instructions drawn up. We hope you still managed to enjoy your visit despite these issues and would love to welcome you back to North Cornwall in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. • "Inside the cottage was lovely."

We were disappointed that there was no welcome pack. All of our previous properties through John Bray have left a variety of scones, wine, milk, soap, etc. We had no logs or coal for the log burner; and not even salt or pepper. It doesn’t take a lot to do a little something like this, and certainly not a lot of money. We would not choose to stay in this cottage again.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your stay. We are afraid that as self catering accommodation. This property does not offer these provisions. We do hope that you enjoyed your stay regardless - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "This is a very comfortable and tastefully furnished cottage internally."

It is well-equipped and maintained and was spotlessly clean. The exterior does not quite match up to the attractive interior - the cottage has a rather odd outlook and the small garden is accessible only from the main bedroom (this was pointed out in the description). It's an advantage to have any parking in Post Isaac and this cottage does have a small space right outside. Overall we enjoyed the stay, but could have done with a better photograph of the front of the cottage to have had a complete picture of the kind of house this was. The check-in/check-out times do mean that you lose almost a day as well. The latter is becoming common to all rentals, though it is not universal by any means.

  • "This was a wonderfully comfortable cottage in a great location, quiet but only a stone's throw from the centre of Port Isaac."

The cottage has been very tastefully decorated and the beds are super comfy. The log burner was a real bonus after a day out braving the elements, and it was so handy having a parking space. The only slight disappointment was the fact that there was no "welcome" pack. It's the first Sykes property that we've stayed in which didn't provide the basics eg milk, bread. Luckily we managed to catch the Coop before it closed. Same in the bathroom where we could have done with a bar of soap. Would absolutely recommend this property however.

  • "Cottage very comfortable, easy walk down to quay or to Port Gaverne."

Only problem was that we couldn’t use the bbq as it was very dirty and full of ash, which I reported. The freezer was iced up badly which I also reported just for your information - we didn’t use it for anything other than ice cubes so it wasn’t a problem for us. Only other problem, that obviously is not the fault of Sykes and which is also driving the locals mad, was the noise & mess caused by a horde of seagulls nesting on the flat roofs around the cottage. My husband’s pride and joy car was divebombed regularly!
