"This was a perfect cottage for my family group!"
Brilliantly situated at the top of Port Isaac with sea views, each bedroom having its own bathroom, two parking spaces and really well equipped, we had a very comfortable stay. The cottage was clean and bright, and the heating kept it lovely and warm. John Brae were very responsive as agents.
Yes the furniture and walls need a bit of refreshing, but it was end of season, and we thought overall it was great value for money. One small suggestion that the downstairs rooms might benefit from some kind of net/ privacy curtain as people do frequently walk past , so you then wouldnt have to keep the curtains/ blind shut whenever you are in them.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are so pleased to hear that you and your family enjoyed all that Pendragon House has to offer, and that the property suited you well. Thank you for your suggestions regarding improvements, all feedback is shared with the owner and our Property Quality Assessor. "The cottage was fine overall, despite looking a bit tired in places no doubt after a long summer season."
Some equipment eg the toaster really should be replaced. The lack of a user manual from the owner was also a big mistake.
My biggest problem with this booking was Sykes and their very poor communication systems. Providing a local office which does not have a dedicated contact line (ie not a number which diverts to Sykes head office) was most frustrating. Had there been any real problems with the property when we arrived we would have been unable to contact anyone.
A prime example of modern IT platforms which provide clients with slow, sporadic remote messaging means of contact which will never replace someone on the end of a phone who can offer true customer service.
I will definitely avoid Sykes properties in future.

"In general, we were very happy with our stay in Pendragon House."
There were a few annoying points that could easily be remedied, eg no soap/ shampoo holder in the downstairs bathroom and no loo roll holder.
As the grandparents, in their 70s, in the party, we were planning to have the upstairs bedroom, but the double bed was right against the wall and inappropriate for anyone who needed to access that side of the bed. We therefore took the double downstairs but the bedside light was immediately/very close, above my head over the bed, so this bed needed to be pushed right against the bedside shelves by the wall and, the shelves had to turned round, stopping access to them.
On the flip side, the views were lovely, the kitchen was extremely well equipped, the sofas were comfortable and the showers were good. It was a spacious house and we enjoyed our stay there.
Thank you so much for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back anytime in the future. All suggestions/comments can be viewed by the property owner so these are appreciated. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner.

"We loved the house, and have had a lovely holiday, but a couple of things that got missed."
. The oven had something spilt on the glass door which we couldnt get off.. It was there when we arrived.
Grill had grated cheese still in the tray and on the wire and had to be washed before it could be used.
There is a white mark on the work top which was hidden under the kettle. It was already there.
The floors weren't very clean. They should have been mopped and we could see dog fur on the bottom our shoes/slippers.
For the owners to maybe see if these things mentioned below can be rectified
The windows in the lounge upstairs don't open very far and in hot weather it will be very uncomfortable to sit in there because it would be very hot
Back door is very badly fitted. Tremendous draughts when it's very windy and makes it very cold. You can actually see daylight from inside the house.
Windows in the bedroom to the left of the front door do not fit very well. When windy the blinds move & it's draughty.
The toilet brush is also not clean &Â needs to be replaced..
A couple of mornings it was quite chilly, but we never worked out how to turn the radiators on in the en suite bathrooms?
Car parking is tight. For one car it's OK, but for two it might be challenging and if one or more is an SUV could be very difficult. There is a car park about 150yds away, but you will have to pay.
But it was lovely place to stay, with a cafe & restaurants outside the front door, people are very friendly ; they shut about 10.00pm and we never heard a thing. It is walking distance along the coastal path or down the steep roads into the village with a few shops, restaurants & pubs. All in all lovely quiet holiday destination, but those with mobility issues may find it difficult.

"Fabulous holiday accommodation very close to some great eating places and shops as well as parking."
But the private road to get to the parking area has 2 enormous pot holes that need attention as it can make both parking and entering/ exiting the area very challenging as well as causing damage to your vehicle.
Thank you so much for your kind words. It's great to hear that you had such a fabulous stay and had the perfect base to explore the local area from. Sorry to hear about the private road. We will see if there is anything we can do but sadly this is out of our control. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner.

Very comfortable and well equipped. The downstairs shower cubicle was broken and unusable which was a shame.
It's in a great spot, very convenient. pity about the horrible garages it overlooks which spoil the outlook somewhat.. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

"A lovely property and location wise it is ideal and the two parking spots are a godsend."
Spotlessly clean. The house book stated the refuse collection was a Friday but it was uplifted in the Thursday so that was a pain as obviously we still had refuse overnight and as there was only one black bag left we had to put that waste into a shopping bag, a couple of bags would be good . Decor wise the house is good although the Velux window in the upstairs bathroom needs attention, it is also unfortunate that you have no way of opening either of the roof windows. Those two issues aside we would recommend this property and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I think it is important to mention in the advert that there is no garden, it might not suit a family with young children.

The only thing I would suggest is to have some storage cupboards in the kitchen for food and a comfy armchair in the lounge as the sofas were a tight fit for 6 adults.

"The reason we wasn’t completely happy was due to the late check in of 4pm and the early checkout of 9am, we are also unsure of why this is such a large window when the checking out details for the property to be cleaned to the standard of how we received the property, this doesn’t comply with covid cleaning."
Cleaning wasn’t done to a high standard either, there was cobwebs throughout on the ceiling and floors wasn’t hoovered. Also another important reason we wasn’t happy with John bray is that on Monday afternoon, a member of John bray entered the property without our consent or even being notified, my mother was in the property with my daughter and our dog, the staff member did not inform us of him visiting and said his here to change a light bulb, we did not report this at all and neither did we have a lightbulb needing to be replaced. It made us worry for the rest of the week that if another member of staff would visit the property as we have all our personal belongings in the property and some were very expensive (watches and jewellery) we shouldn’t be made to feel like this and neither did we receive any form of apology.
Thank you so much for your feedback. Firstly, our apologies that the message of our checkout times changing to 9.30am were not relayed to you and that the cleaning was not up to our usual high standards. Regarding the maintenance team member, once again our apologies that you were not notified beforehand that they were going in to replace a lightbulb for you. We understand how this must have made you feel but please be assured these were not our intentions at all. We hope you still enjoyed your stay regardless of these and we would love to be able to invite you back in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner.

We travelled to many parts of the south coast from here. There is everything you need. Everything had been thought of. We found the property to be very clean and smelt lovely. The beds are comfortable and linen lovely. Parking was great - enough space for two cars. I drive a Navara and still had plenty of space to get it parked with another car next to mine. It’s a beautiful place port Isaac and Pendragon House is a perfect place to stay, made even better that my 4 legged best friend was able to come along. We will 100% be returning. "The house is tired and needs better cleaning."
I spoke to John Bray locally who you sublet from. The towel rail in upstairs bathroom is not working and outside the back door was filthy. This was swept when I complained.
The sofas are tired and need a hoover. The pouffe in the lounge needs its cover removing and cleaning. The beds need to be swept under as does the sofa. The windows are not being cleaned inside, there were sticky hand marks on the lounge windows.
The house is in a good position and has lots of equipment but it is in need of painting and better cleaning.

"'A really beautiful holiday cottage situated at top of Port Isaac & equidistant to Port Gaverne."
Excellently situated with the luxury of 2 car parking spaces!. Wonderfully designed interior to make the most of the building...3 bath/shower rooms to compliment the 3 bedrooms which were all extremely comfortable & with lovely crisp white linen. The owners appear to have thought of everything & we appreciated the seating area at end of hallway to take off shoes etc to deposit in the Shoe Box to make everything tidy & easily accessible. Loved the kitchen, which is extremely spacious & exceptionally well equipped as was the living room which was cosy & comfortable with many cushions & throws. We didn't need to use the log burner as the sun shone for 7 days, but a great addition for those who may have cooler weather. First grandson appreciated the many birds who frequented the next door garden (aged 12 months) & provided aerial displays for us first thing in the morning~ He was mesmerised. We really liked the star lights in the kitchen! We have stayed in many cottages in Port Isaac, over the years & Pendragon House is outstanding, certainly one of the best. Thankyou for a wonderful week away~ We had a great time visiting Padstow, Mevagissey, Charlestown, St.Ives, Eden & Polzeath & enjoyed many walks around the harbour. Dinner @ The Mote House by the harbour in Port Isaac is highly recommended by my son & partner who enjoyed it immensely. Doc Martin is currently on Location Shooting & there are a few familiar faces around & about. We noted the Director of Doc Martin stayed for a lengthy period @ Pendragon & there is an interesting file in the cottage to peruse.
Overall, 5 * ~Thanks again! We would definitely rebook & highly recommend. The Langmans' Sheffield S.Yorkshire'.

"Pendragon is a great cottage in a superb location slightly away for the busy centre but literally a five minutes walk."
The best feature is two parking spaces crucial in Port Isaac and handy for loading and unloading. There is no garden or outside space however most evenings we sat down in the harbour which is stunning. The cottage is in a tiny courtyard with a book / gift shop and a fresh fish restaurant which is extremely popular. We were concerned we may have noise from the shops but nothing at all . The house was very well equipped great size bedrooms . We found the house had unexplained noises at night and wondered if it may be haunted !!! A great stay in a beautiful part of the country and central for many beautiful beaches. If you are planning on eating out book in advance . Recommend the Mote and the School House restaurant also Pilchards in Port Gaverne .

"You need to provide information on how to work the television."
You also need to explain that there is a hook on the wall in the parking area for the wetsuits. One of the local shop owners explained it to us. You gave a map for the house and parking but it would be better if you said *turn immediately left after the shop*. Another very small thing. When we arrived and throughout our visit after the house had been closed up there was a slight fish smell. This can sometimes be an electrical fault. We loved the ease of where the house was and the local co-op was very handy. Thanks for making everything right for a perfect holiday.
