  • "On arrival the property was not left clean at all."

We had to spend the first 2 hours cleaning. There were cracked glasses when we wanted drinks. When we tried to use the oven it had been left in a disgusting state and was unusable. We have been there 5 times and this is the first time we have not been satisfied. The place on a whole is looking a little rough, especially the patio and windows and could do with a spice up. The bathroom door handle needs changing as it doesn’t lock. Beds are comfy and always clean linen and towels.

  • "This is our 6th stay here, beautiful scenery, looking out to St Michael's Mount."

Bungalow spacious but now looking to look tired. Patio door, strip at the side was coming away last year and unfortunately not been fixed this time. Patio blinds were broken (no chain) did manage to use them but would have been better if this had been fixed. Unfortunately, a group of neighbours in several of the bungalows used the open plan lawn as their own so where running up and down with disregard to other tenants, kicking footballs & throwing tennis balls, even though signs said No Ball Games on the wall. Sykes were very unhelpful & didn't want to know.

  • "Great location close to the beach and a bar and cafe(watch out for the service charge and the tip option at the Surf Club) one of the things not shown on the listing is that there is a dvd player so bring your favourite films."

Pretty much everything you need is there which includes some dish washer and washing machine tablets in the welcome pack amongst other goodies . There is no Wi-Fi which didn’t bother us as we could use our phone data as a hotspot when needed . Parking is great just remember to use the permits supplied Nice bedding and lovely white towels. The sofas were comfortable so were the beds there is a train line Very close but to be honest you hardly notice it after the first day . There is an open plan shared outside area which is kept clean and tidy and wooden picnic bench to sit and enjoy the sun and sounds of the sea. Top tip if you want to visit St Ives drive to St Erth train station and park in the park and ride (£4) catch the train to St Ives £4 return it’s a lovely scenic route

  • "I wish to say that this is not my first time at this location and have spent many thousands of pounds over the last 10 years."

Thus, I'm commenting from a position of extensive experience across most of the properties at this location. The properties now are in my veiw such poor value.and simply not worth the outlay anymore. The overall physical condition is very tired and this week, experiencing what we have has been the proverbial 'straw'. Of course, in a holiday let, one always expects a degree of rustic charm , but dead insect stains on the walls, which haven't even been painted since last year, leaking shower heads, rear 'sliding' doors that don't close and lock properly and are held together with brackets were all appalling. The final thing this week was a freezer door missing, so the fridge leaked frozen water which ran into the main compartment all over the food and wouldn't hold temperature. Our food was ruined and we couldn't eat it. When I asked about this, I was told it happened weeks ago. I've had enough of the dilapidated condition of these lets and the reality is, they are no longer competitive considering the local market and it would be my respectful recommendation that Cornish Cottages consider removing them from their portfolio. I cannot see how advertising these lets in the condition they remain in for years maintains a credible market offer. They simply aren't good enough and CC need to see it. Thank you.

The cottage is clean, all the utensils etc. that you need. Double mattress not the most comfortable but OK. Very handy for exploring Cornwall. Handy supermarkets & shops close by. Amazing view of St Michael's Mount. Very close to beach. This is not the first time we have stayed and would return. The only downside is the lack of wifi, especially now the Station House pub has closed.

Thank you for your feedback. We are happy you had a nice stay even when the storm landed in Cornwall. • "Fantastic location, with the views of St Michael's Mount and being in such close proximity to the sandy beach."

I loved being able to hear the sea from the property. For me personally, I liked it that Shoreline was on the end of the row, and we benefited from the flower and large pebble arrangements that the gardener had done outside nearby. Overall, the quality of cleanliness was very good - thinking particularly of the kitchen equipment and utensils. The bathroom mirror would have benefited from a good polish. The mattress on the double bed wasn't great in that it felt as though it was sloping towards the floor at the edge and I felt like I might fall off, so I slept in the middle of the bed. The bed heads in both bedrooms are not the ones shown in the photographs (they are very nice, but it is a small inaccuracy in the listing). It would be an added bonus if WiFi was installed at the property. Usually I look for this but on this occasion I had missed that it wasn't in the listing when I booked. Not the end of the world, but it would be preferable to have it and would make me more likely to book again

It was very clean, light and airy and the decor and soft furnishings were just right. We could hear the waves from the sea even before we opened the patio doors. Shoreline was perfect for our dog because even though the grounds are open plan, being the end bungalow meant that no one went past us. We took a long training lead with us so that our dog could wander in and out at the same time as being kept secure. Shoreline's close proximity to the South West Coast Path and the beach was the biggest bonus and the main reason for choosing Shoreline. Everything was perfect - apart from the beds. The twin room definitely needs new mattresses. I had a terrible first night's sleep due to the springs digging into my back and the remaining nights didn't improve my quality of sleep at all. If I was to book this property again I would take an air mattress with me!

Property would benefit from a mirror in the double bedroom and description should state that there is no wardrobe/storage in that room. Blinds in lounge do not have a pull cord and could easily be broken by somebody pulling them across. Needs kitchen scissors and small, sharp knives. It would have been nice to know that there is a coffee machine and cafetiere at the property before we arrived so that we could take appropriate types of coffee (need to state which make of coffee machine). The blind pull in the twin bedroom is no longer fixed into the wall securely. Didn't worry us but pre-occupation cleaning wasn't 100% - ie dust on headboards, cobwebs around wall lights. Nice little welcome pack of eco-friendly goods and milk. Website stated that tea towels aren't provided but they were, great. Great location, very spacious living area.

  • "This is the 4th year we have booked one of these properties but our first time in Shoreline."

We continue to book (and have done for 2021 already) as the location is perfect for us. On the whole, the properties, including Shoreline, are very comfortable. However, a couple of points to raise - On all the Sykes documentation the check out time was listed at 10am, when we arrived at Shoreline on 8th August, there was a note in the property stating that checkout time was 9am. I appreciate that, due to the current situation, an earlier checkout time gives the cleaners more time but it would have been nice to have been informed prior to our arrival. This year there were parking permits issued for users of the properties. The property details states that there is parking for 2 cars but only 1 permit had been provided. Luckily we only had 1 car with us but we did consider bringing 2 cars so that my son could drive home to collect his exam results on the Thursday. The toilet seat needs repairing/replacing. The patio door was very stiff to use and was very difficult to lock. It didn't seem to fit the runners properly. Cleanliness has always been an issue for us at these properties. Bedding and towels were lovely and fresh. All crockery, cutlery and utensils were also very clean. But - surfaces and window sills in every room were very dusty, several surfaces had dead flies on them. The floor was filthy. I swept up lots of sand and grit upon arrival. Each time any furniture moved slightly (sofas, coffee table, beds, bedside cabinets etc) more piles of sand and grit were revealed. I spilt some water on the floor so used a cloth to mop it up - the cloth was literally black after mopping up the water. I wiped down the windowsill in the kitchen and the wipe was black when I had finished. In my opinion - floors really should be thoroughly swept, hoovered and mopped during each changeover clean (inlcuding moving furniture and cleaning under and behind the furniture)

Thank you for your valuable feedback and for bringing these matters to our attention. The patio doors have been adjusted and new runners have been ordered. The toilet seat has been fixed. There should have been 2 parking permits in the property and we do have spares which had we been aware we could have provided. We will ask the Housekeeper to check these at every changeover. The cleaning issues are taken very seriously and will be addressed. We hope that your holiday was enjoyable despite this and we are so pleased that the location is perfect for you. Property Owner

We really did love our stay here but would have appreciated WiFi a lot. Cleaning staff/teams were waiting for us to leave even before check out time (check out time of 10am) so did feel a little rushed out which didn’t feel nice, though the staff were friendly enough. Maybe a text or email to say when the cottage(s) are ready for guests to arrive would be really beneficial instead of making new guests wait until 4pm to arrive if they’re already in the area or nearby.

This means you have to wash the mugs by hand every time you use them or put the dishwasher on two or three times every day. We suggest it should contain at least 12 mugs or preferably 24 which would mean the dishwasher could be used every second day. The beds are OK but most of the properties we use do have better quality mattresses & bedding. On the plus side this is a superb location (our third visit to these bungalows), great views, very quiet (you soon get used to the trains) & ideally placed for visits to Penzance, Mousehole, Lamorna, Porthcurno, Landsend & St Ives.

When we arrived there was a pint of milk, tub of cream, scones and jam, which I thought was a lovely welcome, also dining table and chairs. Central heating plus electric fire.
