The grounds are kept very tidy and the gardens are beautiful. Andrew in the office was very friendly and helpful when the tv lost signal. But there were a couple of issues. Firstly the freezer door handle was broken and the hob has definitely seen better days. It was almost impossible to see the dials and the rings are corroded, it made it very difficult to cook on as we weren’t sure what temperature was set or if indeed it was turned on/off. The blind in the bathroom couldn’t be lifted once dropped and the bbq was left in an unusable state. We enjoyed the location with it being only 10 mins from Falmouth and the beaches are nice and close. We would stay in Pendra Loweth again.

Thank you for choosing our home for your holiday. Andrew and all the office staff are amazingly helpful. I was aware of the hob, and is being replaced. I will ask maintenance to look into the other bits for me. Thank you for making me aware of them. Many thanks Joanne Property Owner

On arrival, it actually exceeded expectations but unfortunately the oven stopped working after 3 days (and the cooker itself lacked an instruction booklet which meant that the controls were difficult to interpret). Also, it was impossible to control the heaters in each room meaning that their output could not be increased, nor the timing set to our requirements. Aside from the non-working oven, the property would benefit from a comprehensive guide to all appliances plus information on local amenities beyond the village itself.

Despite being constantly informed prior to my stay that there were extra cleaning measures in place to ensure our abode was fit for our stay in this new world of COVID19 that we find ourselves having to live in, and on entering the property there were information leaflets once again informing us of the additional cleaning that the location had undergone. I was quite frankly appalled by the cleanliness of the Tre Pol Pen cottage. There were also many maintenance issues. I raised these cleaning and maintenance issues as a concern only to find myself as the go between of the property management company and maintenance and cleaning. I took it upon my self to clean the place from top to bottom and I also informed the management company that it was unfair that my holiday was being impacted, they agreed and confirmed that suitable recompense would be addressed at a later date so as not to impact on my holiday any further than it had already done so. As such, on returning home, I contacted the management company once again as they had not followed up with anything only to receive quite a rude dismissive email claiming that they had done everything they could and that the cleanliness issues would also have been addressed had I let them in, as stated earlier, and as I stated to them at the time, I took it upon myself to clean so when they did turn up there wasn't any need to let more people in to the small dwelling in close proximity of my family to clean what should have already been cleaned prior to my arrival. General maintenance issues: 1: Microwave needed replacing it was disgusting - rusted door, rusted chassis, rusted internally and the internal covering had bubbled and popped in some places. 2: Plug chain broken on bathroom sink which made removal of plug difficult when my boys washed their hands, more so now due to covid so this is important not trivial. 3: Light bulb missing from hallway 4: Light bulb missing from kitchen 5: Shower riser rail coming away from the wall 6: Chair missing its seat (They stated in the response email "the chair was not intended for use at all and they had left it outside under a cover to make sure it was not used." The chair was under the dining table minus its seat, not outside and not under a cover. 7: Broken under sink bin made it unusable General cleanliness issues: (the flyer in the dwelling cited "special cleaning measures had been undertaken", Sykes communications prior to our arrival via emails also stated this. This is clearly not the case. 1: Microwave - probably should be condemned - Rusted door, rusted rear and rust around the oven opening 2: Dishwasher top had dried spillages 3: Dishwasher base was covered in dirt 4: Dead flies, dog hairs and cobwebs littered the conservatory 5: The conservatory furniture was covered in what looked like dog hairs 6: Splashes of I don't know what stained the skirting below the sink in the 1st bedroom 7: Dog hairs all around the skirting in the lounge 8: Dirt piled on cabinet door hinges 9: Dirt clumped beneath the drawer cabinet in the 2nd bedroom 10: Cheese grater encrusted with dried cheese 11: Dirty kitchen utensils 12: Dirt in the folds of the foldable sofa

Thank you for your comments. A re-clean of the property was arranged for during your stay but the housekeepers were refused entry to the property, so unable to rectify any issues. The maintenance issues were promptly dealt with by the onsite maintenance man, other than the patio doors which require a specialist. A new sofa and sofa bed were delivered to the property during your stay. The chair without the seat pad had been stored in the conservatory under a cover out of the way, so that it wouldn't be used. However i was rather disappointed with this cottage. The mattress on the double bed is terrible: very difficult to sleep and makes for a stiff back. The sofas (sofa beds, i think) in the lounge are old and you cannot sit comfortably as you can feel the frame underneath. The freezer box was so frosted over that i couldn't get the door closed without having to chip away at the ice. The bath plug was broken so emptying the bath not easy. No information folder, but i did locate the wifi code on a note taped inside a cupboard - it's a shame not to have helpful information about the cottage (heating, rubbish wifi etc) all in a folder. I will definitely return to Pendra Loweth as it's a lovely site with beautiful gardens, but I'm afraid I wouldn't chose this particular cottage again.

I telephoned the Customer services , who said they would get someone to check it out for me , and I explained I have bad back problems . I received a message assuring me that all was well with the mattress and it had been checked , along with the sofa , which someone had commented about how uncomforatable it was . On the evening we arrived , when I went to bed , I was genuinely shocked , to learn that the mattress was so thin , you could feel what I assumed was the springs on your back , through it . We contacted Customer services , who offered to send someone out , with a Mattress topper , which indeed they did , the next day . Unfortunately , the Mattress topper , was also poor quality , and hardly made ANY difference , so bedtimes were very stressful . The heating in the living room wasn't working at first , but the caretaker came in the next day and provided us with a radiator , which was much appreciated . The Cooker takes forever , to cook anything , and we could only find one one shelf in there , which seemed odd . The place was generally clean , and other than other bits of things that maybe it would be a good idea to replace , I had no complaint . Also the Site , is nowhere near as private as the Advertising implies .

The listing gives the impression it is only 1 of 3 houses. however it was a lovely site and set in beautiful gardens. It was quiet at the time of year we visited. The house was dissapointing on arrival- needs some updating ie cooker/ bathroom/ beds / sofas all very old and well used . the sofas were particularly uncomfortable to sit on and we had to put extra cushions to sit on top of as you can feel the frame of the furniture underneath! So they definitely need replacing. ! The place looked as if it had just recently had a lick of paint but a shame the furniture and mattresses were not replaced . Also the curtains were very cheap and thin ( no lining) and let light in so we found this made it difficult to sleep at night. Another issue for us was there was no Wi-fi despite it being stated that that there was wi-fi. We went to reception on site to ask about this ,but they said there was nothing they could do as the property is owned by Sykes . we paid an extra £17 for a week (extra) , for wi-fi.. My partner needed the internet for work and also we like to watch movies etc over the internet when on holiday. However, one positive was that the house was spotlessly clean on arrival, We managed to catch the cleaner on the day we left to compliment her on this. ! All in all we enjoyed our week ,and apart from the sofas and internet ,everything worked well despite being a bit outdated. Its a lovely location and holiday site set in lovely gardens and very close to beaches and Falmouth.
