  • "Lovely, comfortable cottage in a stunning setting."

Cosy, well equipped, stylish interior, beautifully clean and welcoming, with a very helpful information folder from the owners. Sadly, the back garden was out of use while we were there, however the front terrace is an ideal sheltered spot to sit and watch the river. The Heron pub, mere steps away, serves great food. We would really recommend this cottage (except for people with restricted mobility - the outside steps and inside stairs are steep). Parking is on the road, and the pub is popular, but we didn't have trouble finding a space. We like to walk and to kayak; the cottage is ideally located for both activities.

  • "We think it should be emphasised that there are steep steps direct from the road to the cottage and also steep stairs to access the first floor."

Light in fridge not working. Lovely place, we had a fabulous week. Little problem with downstairs toilet, fixed very quickly by our lovely housekeeper.

  • "We absolutely loved the location and the cottage itself was so cute and had loads of character features."

Was clean and smell lovely and fresh throughout the stay. I do have a few niggles however which became apparent over the week. Parking was an absolute nightmare and I don't feel this was accurately stated at time of booking. The shower flooded all over the bathroom everything we used it so ended up having wash towels every day! The other issue was not being able to use the back garden and summer house - I understand the renovation is but thought it was cheeky to give us no notice of this at all until we arrived. Overall, I loved the cottage and would recommend but with the caveats above. Better communication would have helped.

  • "Lovely well presented comfortable little cottage."

Beautifully situated with wonderful views over the river. 2 points though, it was a bit tricky to find, the address given as 4 Trenhaile terrace, from the car that name and number aren't easily seen, where as the name of the cottage, Saint Claire is easily seen, with the name being on the roadside wall and on the cottage itself. The other point is that we think the loo seat hinges need attention. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay there. Robin Charnan

Recommend taking the ferry from Malpas to Falmouth and back and then sitting on the patio with a glass of wine enjoying the views ,birds and peace and quiet.

  • "A beautiful little home from home!"

Perfectly equipped and decorated beautifully. The beds are extremely comfortable with good quality linen and the shower room is just lovely! Situated next to Truro’s finest pub, which you would expect to be noisy at times is not due to the discerning and courteous clientele. So perfectly convenient to enjoy a pint or two overlooking the beautiful river. St Claire is a haven of tranquility.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. And I can vouch for the fact that, even though situated close to the pub we've never had any disturbance, even sitting outside or with the windows fully opened. So we get all the advantages of The Heron Inn instead. Property Owner

Thank you so much for making our holiday feel special

  • "This was an amazing property with spectacular views from various terraces and rooms."

Despite the pub two doors away it was not noisy or intrusive. The property had virtually everything we needed and the exceptions were more to do with our specific needs that not everyone would be bothered with-perhaps a small salad spinner and we could have used a bigger cutting board in the kitchen. Our only issue was the latch on the bathroom door wouldn't open from the inside which meant you could get stuck in there if you closed the door. Overall an excellent stay and the welcome pack was most appreciated. Would love to go back!

    4. Amazing location and view. Cottage had everything you needed and more. Weather wasn’t great for our week, so didn’t take full advantage of summerhouse / top seating area, but lovely to sit on a nice sunny day. Spent most evenings at Heron Inn for food, two doors along, great food and great staff. Bought a 3 day Mussel card, so got ferry into Falmouth, but can also use on local bus & train, well worth the money. Wonderful cottage in a wonderful location.

  • "What a beautiful cottage in a picturesque location."

We really enjoyed our stay here as the cottage was everything we needed. It's location, a couple of miles from Truro, was convenient for where we wanted to go but yet more tranquil than being in the town. The Heron Inn, a couple of doors up, served great food and would recommend eating there to anyone who is looking to stay.

  • "Fantastic cottage which I would recommend to anyone & everyone!"

Just a couple of points: A. Both loo seats were insecure, and B. The fire alarm was minus it’s battery! Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in a beautiful cottage in delightful surroundings. The Heron pub next door serves really good food & excellent ‘Rattler’ cider!

Thank you for your positive and constructive feedback and we are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Just to reassure, the smoke alarm without the battery in was superseded by the new alarm on the ceiling a couple of feet away. We need to remove that old box. Loo seats seemed to have worked loose the last couple of weeks so they are now fully secured. Agree about the Heron after a lovely meal myself and I can comment positively too on the Cornish Korev lager! Property Owner

Tranquil, beautiful and relaxing. Such a nice property to enjoy and close to Truro and surrounding coastal areas. We will definitely return sometime.

Thank you for taking the time to share your positive thoughts. We are very thankful that you enjoyed your stay. Autumn is such a beautiful time with the colours changing along the banks of the rivers. We are having the front garden, decking and stonework all reconfigured now to make sitting outside and watching the world go by even more enjoyable. I will post photos of the outcomes - exciting times. Property Owner

  • "Absolutely beautiful cottage, back garden and summer house, though we didn't use it as it was cold as in October."

The cottage itself was lovely, stepping back in time but with a modern feel. The views were stunning from the front seating area of the river, woods, boats and sunrise. You can hear owls hoot and it will echo right up the valley, brilliant. Really beautiful area, people were friendly and stunning food from the pub 2 doors away. Would recommend to anyone who wants a peaceful break.

Thank you for your kind comments. We are pleased that you enjoyed the cottage and the beautiful surroundings. If you ever return to stay (and we hope that you will do) then other things to watch out for are the Herons in the trees swooping down into the river and the buzzards circling in the thermals rising from the confluence of the Tresilian and Truro rivers. Also - we get a brilliant view of Jupiter in the evening and can see the red dot with binoculars Property Owner

  • "Lovely cosy little cottage in a beautiful location."

The view down the Truro river is just amazing, the pictures really don't do it justice. The outdoor spaces are real bonus, the terrace at the front and through back (up some steep stairs) another decked terrace with table and chairs. Lovely, G&T kick back and relax. Parking is limited, we didn't always get a place outside (only reason we don't give it full marks for facilities) but this didn't detract from our enjoyment.

Thank you for your kind and constructive comments and we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We are going to refresh our pictures - it's just a question of selecting through hundreds of photos. I put one on the Other day (slide 18) which showed the mist clearing from the river on an early sunny morning. You can lose track of time just watching life go by on the river. Property Owner

  • "This is a gem of a property with idyllic views."

It is restful place to stay and gently watch the world go by. It has lots of attributes including an amazing shower, thick soft towels, a large and very comfortable bed. Downstairs in the kitchen it is well equipped with good lighting. The lounge is sizeable with -you got it- a comfortable large sofa. Furnishings throughout are tasteful. The patio outside was a joy to sit in and have a glass of wine and take in the views which cannot be overstated. It is highly recommended in itself and is ideally located for the many attractions nearby.

Thank you for your kind feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back again. Property Owner

  • "The property was delightful- I think the listing didn't do it justice."

The views from the main bedroom window and outside on the terrace where stunning! Adorable garden hidden away at the back with view also onto the estuary. Such a beautiful interior, so cosy and a perfect place to relax. Kitchen had all amenities so ideal if you want to cook, however, the pub (Heron Inn) next door was delightful for a drink or a meal. Parking is sparse but the best time to park is after 2pm and you will most likely get a space. Can't wait to return and explore more of Cornwall with this beautiful cottage as our base.

Thank you so much for your kind and helpful review. The house is a treasure and we've furnished it for our own as well as guests' comfort... And the views are just beautiful. The Heron Inn won pub of the year 2022 just recently and it's easy to see why. The food is fantastic and the staff really make you feel special. Thanks for the note about parking too and you are right. Whilst it's very rare that I can't park up close to the house, it can get busy before mid-afternoon, especially when other houses have building/maintenance work. We look forward to welcoming you back and we are really grateful to you and all the other guests who have left our house so clean and tidy. We've been so lucky to have such fabulous visitors. Thank You. Property Owner
