  • "This cottage has it all - great location, surroundings and everything you can think off for a rental."

Situated in a small village on the Lizard it gives a unique experience and base to explore. The cottage was spotlessly clean with fresh milk and lemon drizzle cake upon arrival ( well needed!) Definitely one of the best rentals if not the best we have had and highly recommended. Definitely will be returning.

The Tuesday night chip van was a highlight. The owner Susie was very helpful & accommodating to our slightly reduced stay. Would definitely rebook when we fancy a return trip to this area.

  • "An absolutely lovely property in a lovely village."

Lovely garden and kitchen. Driveway is big enough for a big car (VW Tiguan Allspace) if you go on sideways which is easy to do as the road is so quiet. Free dog walking field at the top of the village and park for the kids virtually next door. The first two bedrooms are big and light. The third bedroom is not too small for a single but it is quite dark but we knew that from other reviews - it is still nice. Excellent communication from owners. We had a really lovely holiday and were able to visit lots of lovely beaches, St Ives and Falmouth too. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

  • "The cottage was so nice, we have already booked to return next year."

It was spotlessly clean, extremely well appointed and the hosts were great. We would have welcomed a couple of reclining sun chairs/loungers for sunbathing in the garden, as the garden furniture wasn’t ideal for that purpose and with it being a dog friendly cottage, we didn’t fancy laying on the grass. If I could give one negative comment, it would be just one - that the mattress in the master bedroom was not very supportive and far too soft, with the sides collapsing when you sat on the side of the bed, but that is because we prefer a much firmer mattress. I guess it’s personal preference. Other than that, I could not fault the cottage in any way. As said, we’re back again next year and can’t wait.

!! Susie had taken great care to welcome us & little touches like fresh flowers & the most amazing flapjacks (Susie knows our opinion of those - fantastic) were very much appreciated. The local people were so friendly & helpful & the pub in the village was also welcoming & serves good food. Tuesday night fish & chip van was a must - the best we've tasted for a very long time. It was a long journey getting there but worth it.

  • "A lovely little cottage in a charming village."

We very much enjoyed our stay. All the rooms are beautifully decorated and there is plenty of outdoor space too. The two double bedrooms are a good size but the only drawback is the single bedroom is small and rather dark due to just having a tiny window.

Inspite of the weather we have been comfortable, warm & cosy. Loved the fresh flowers & brownies (delicious). Very friendly village, even when we won the pub quizz! The chippy van on tuesday was very good & parked across the road but beware the portions are enormous. Thank you Susie for letting us share your cottage, we loved it & hope to perhaps visit again.

The cottage is well equipped and parking for two cars was brilliant. Trerise is a short drive to Helston, and close to all main routes. There’s even a mobile fish & chips van that comes on a Tuesday eve. If there could be one thing to add to the super comfort of this delightful and well maintained cottage, it would be to add a proper shower to the downstairs bathroom, or install a shower curtain around the existing roll top bath, as 4 adults using our en-suite slowed us up in the mornings. Thank you for a relaxing and enjoyable stay!

We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Trerise Cottage was perfect; so clean and comfortable. All the amenities and facilities you could hope for plus it was bright and airy and we all had the space we craved. The area is beautiful; quiet and peaceful. We can heartily recommend The New Inn in the village (again, they were really welcoming and the Sunday carvery was awesome) and Sids Fish and Chips on a Tuesday evening. There are lovely walks to Helford (plus the ferry over to Helford Passage) and St Anthony/Gillans Creek. All in all, we had the exact holiday we wanted. As our family is growing up (this was possibly our last holiday all together) we were looking to just relax and spend quality time together. Mission accomplished. We'll definitely rebook for Trerise Cottage, I just hope this review doesn't make it impossible!

The Garden was a big hit with our German Shepheard who really enjoyed laying around and chilling in the odd bit of spring sunshine. The New inn is highly recommended with an excellent landlady, good food and some interesting and friendly locals. Tuesday Night Chip Van should not be missed with everything appearing to be cooked to order (It parks about 10 yards from the cottage its almost home delivery) A great base to explore the local area or just kick back and chill. We will certainly be looking at returning.

We were fortunate enough to stay during the Queen's platinum jubilee and were made most welcome not only by the lovely hosts, but also by the friendly local community. It is more of a home rather than a holiday let. Exceptionally clean and comfortable - the owners have provided everything that you could possibly need! As the weather was particularly awful during our stay we spent more time in the cottage than we would have done normally so the standard of the accommodation was extremely appreciated. The location is great for reaching lots of the beauty spots and we liked being able to walk from the cottage to Helford, where there is a great place to eat, and the wonderful Frenchman's Creek. • "The cottage was lovely."

It probably had everything we needed, from a washing machine to salt and vinegar for our fish and chips. It was extremely clean, probably the cleanest place we have ever rented. One of the down sides was the layout of the living room, which meant everyone trying to watch the tv was difficult because of its position. Having the tv on a bracket that swings out would probably be better. The smallest bedroom also got very hot. Even though there was a fan in there, it really needs to be a bigger fan to make a difference. Having a washing machine and washing line to hang stuff out is a necessity with a family, however we discovered the washing line could have done with being over the opposite side of the garden. It only seemed to get the sun in a morning, so after lunch time it was in the shade, which meant washing didnt dry very well.

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback following your recent stay at 2 Trerise Cottage . We love to hear from guests about their stays at our properties. The TV bracket is a bit stiff and will be treated with WD40. The Owners have asked the neighbours to trim the Buddleia Tree to open up the garden to even more light. We are pleased that despite the points raised you enjoyed your stay at 2 Trerise Cottage. Property Owner

A real home from home. Internally you couldn’t find fault. The bed in the master bedroom was too firm for us but that’s personal taste. The kitchen had everything in it you could possibly think of. The owner was lovely and happy to answer any questions. Cottage superbly located. Lots of walks so ideal for the dog. Fantastic local pub. Very friendly and excellent food, ate there twice during the week. My only suggestion to the owner, given the beautiful weather we were blessed with, is some nice external furniture would finish the place off nicely. There’s nothing to sit on to read a book in the sun, a couple of loungers/deck chairs would have been most welcomed. Other than that it was perfect.

From the large, bright kitchen with dining area an internal window looks through to cosy sitting room with exposed, beamed ceiling, pretty window seats and a wood burning stove sits in a traditional Cornish inglenook.

Stairs lead to three bedrooms – a king size double with en-suite shower-room and lovely countryside views, a second double with a vaulted ceiling and beams, and a single.

Behind the cottage is an enclosed lawned garden and sitting area with barbecue, from here, far-reaching views look over fields and the rugged Lizard peninsula landscape.

About the location

MANACCAN

Helston 10 miles ; Helford 1.5 miles ; Porthallow 3 miles

The village of Manaccan on the South Helford is small and friendly, with an excellent restaurant, friendly village inn and a beautiful 12th century church. The South Helford is arguably one of the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of Cornwall. With meandering country roads, picturesque creeks, tidal inlets and pretty waterside villages, the area can be summed up in three words: tranquil, charming and timeless. The perfect spot for enjoying outdoor living, the South Helford’s sheltered coves were made for messing around on the water and strolling leisurely along the banks. Leave your ‘phone behind and embrace the simple pleasures - while away time paddling in the shallows, explore hidden coves with a hire boat from St Anthony, and stroll through woodland to enjoy a picnic on the beach.
