  • "Lovely location although it would be easier to find if a signpost could be put at top of path-we arrived in the dark and no one at the bar knew where we had to go to find the entrance to sail boats."

Once we got in… the patio door wouldn’t open freely! I had seen on reviews from a few months ago that this had been a problem - it needs sorting as it did have a big impact on us - we had to keep walking outside to push from both sides - not great every night at midnight. Also the blinds… slat missing (found it under sink) and blinds couldn’t twist to block peoples view straight in from pathway outside.

I was pleasantly surprised by how warm and cosy the cottage was and even though the main train line to Penzance ran by the noise was minimal. It was great to have a view of the mount and Marazion is within easy walking distance either by the beach or footpath. There were parts of the decoration that looked a bit tired including the front door and strip between living room and hall. Would I stay there again? Definitely. My husband, dog and I had a great time.

The bungalow was extremely over priced for what it provides. Yes the location is good but things like a lack of blankets, a mop, a dishwasher a smart tv let it down. On season I could see how sitting outside and access to the beach would make it popular. Early December when you are stuck indoors it needs much more Very disappointed

Thank you for your feedback. We have checked and a mop and bucket can be found in the shed. The property is not advertised as having a dishwasher or a Smart TV. Property Owner

With the cost of the holiday and a 6 hour turnaround, we were surprised to have to clean stains off the crockery and cutlery and disgusted to find the used frying pan and baking tray in the oven. Consequently we didn't use the oven since we had no idea when it was last cleaned. Also a note to the suppliers of the welcome pack - food products should not be mixed with highly fragranced cleaning products.

Great view of St Michael's mount. Long Rock beach was on the doorstep. But the bungalow is tired frankly. The whole bathroom needs a deep clean and the loo seat needs replacing. The kitchen area was fine though. The sofa was too dirty to sit on without covering it in my own beach towels first. I suppose if you allow dogs that happens? The DVD player didn't work. On the whole Sail Boats needs some TLC.

  • "The holiday home was perfectly situated for the beach and Marazion and we loved having the view of St Michael’s Mount each day!"

The bungalow provided everything needed for a self catering holiday, including tea towels (not mentioned on the website) and a lovely Cornish welcome pack with milk, tea, coffee, biscuits and washing up liquid etc. On arrival everything was clean apart from the fridge which still had bits of food from the previous guests in it which meant I had to clean it before using. Also, the freezer door still does not close (mentioned on other reviews previously) as it is so frozen up (it was perfect for chilling beer bottles though!). There were quite a few maintenance issues which had to be lived with or ‘worked around’ e.g. vertical blinds in lounge have no string to open/close/turn; the catch on the bedroom window has previously been broken off so we could not open the window properly, the toilet seat was wonky, the shower seal didn’t work so there was always water on the floor afterwards…. Finally, the mattress on the bed really does need changing! It is so hard that we chose to buy a thick mattress topper on the second day to ensure a good night’s sleep for the rest of the holiday! (We took it with us!!!). These sound like a lot of problems but the location and price of the accommodation certainly eased our disappointment with the maintenance issues.

  • "Cannot fault the location."

Been coming to these cottages for years and in fact this exact location when it was railway camping coaches. It is our favourite place to holiday in Cornwall. We have noticed our cottage (Sail Boats) is getting a bit tired in places. Beading around the floor breaking up and coming away, gaps in flooring and skirting boards, marked paint, niggles really. On the flip side it is comfortable, warm has plenty of really hot water for showers, baths and good WIFI. It was a great place to be during the couple of cold, stormy days and nights we had during our stay. The management of the cottage is very good. The mattress on the bed was very bad for us for the first 3 days of our holiday. My wife constantly felt like she was falling out of it and it completely knackered my back. I would wake in the morning in agony and even with painkillers could not stand up straight until late afternoon. We lost 3 days of our week because of that. We called the holiday company and later that day a new deeper, firmer mattress was delivered and fitted. We were impressed with the response to our query and we slept well for the rest of the week. All in all this is a good place to stay. The costs of staying here in season are now prohibitive for us so we are more likely to visit last minute, out of season when the prices are more affordable.

Don’t let the railway line put you off , you don’t hear it because of the constant sound from the sea! Yes you can see the pub next door through the kitchen window and yes they can see you ! But we kept the blind down . There are a few maintenance issues with this property, easily fixed if the owner wanted , one being the toilet seat ( broken) , the bed ( as mentioned several times in previous posts ) needs looking at ! But not terribly, the oven ( also mentioned in passed posts) needs the function symbols addressing as this was like Russian roulette in what the oven was put on . Lovely walk into Marazion, would recommend a visit to the kings arm pub and the Cutty sark restaurant , both served excellent food ( take a torch for the walk back , there are no street lights ) . Overall a fantastic base for a Cornish holiday !

Our sliding door to the sea view had seen better days and was very difficult to shut and was rotten just due to weather erosion. Just a good deep clean now and then would help the place. Lots of walkers and cyclists able to view in from the very nearby path which is great for a walk into penzance. Railway not mentioned at all might make people complain. Personally I would stay again like I said just needs some maintanence done to outside and deep clean occasionally in side. One other thing I know we have the old tinterweb but a list of good local pubs ( like the fire engine in Marazion) in the property always helps.

No WiFI meant a quiet week. A waste bin in the kitchen would be a useful addition.

Steps away from the beach, a view of St Michael's Mount at all times. Just what we needed, a relaxing break in a lovely spot. Will definitely return.

  • "Fantastic location, very clean."

However typical of non owner lived in i.e No corkscrew, no baking tray (went out and bought 1), no brush to sweep up the sandy floor, carving knives blunt nd and no way to sharpen, no spare light bulbs, insufficient toilet rolls., bath tap very stiff to divert to shower. Pity as compared to great overall value these are petty issues but important

Still awoke every morning with back ache. Would suggest new bed be a King Size as very small double, which is poor compared to most cottages now. Shortage of cutlery ( again reported previously ), needed to purchase extra teaspoons and could not find any metal Baking trays to cook in oven other than pyrex or pottery. Have previously stayed in this location numerous times and have never had to comment before about facilities.

Beach literally on your doorstep. Owner and gardener very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Addressed the bed not comfy with the owner and now aware she will sort it. Booked to go again next year, we loved it that much. Alot of memories made. Vicky & Wayne

  • "The property was not cleaned very well."

The bed was the most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept in and on one night I actually chose to sleep on the sofa, as the bed was making my back ache. Some damp in the walls and always a damp smell when we returned from being out. It wasn't safe to leave any windows open when we went out as the locks on the windows were very poor and no security offered. Shower control did not work well and we had to lever it with a spoon, as other guests had also stated they did the same. Only enough hot water for one shower....then suddenly went cold, so assuming small tank. Patio doors very stiff to open. Ironing board but no iron....doesn't make sense! Although the train was close the noise did not bother us too much. No information brochures on local areas to visit or attractions. Apart from that the location was good, and the views across to St. Michael's Mount were stunning.

  • "The Sail Boats bungalow was clean upon arrival and as described."

A photograph that shows the space to the back of the bungalow would be useful to some clients so that they can see the patio area with close proximity to the Station Pub and slope to the garden wall. However, this was not a problem for us. I would imagine in peek season some visitor's to the Pub will perch on the garden wall which would be very irritating if you were on your bench outside. We had to ask some people to move (which they did), put we didn't like to ask. Basic cooking pans, utensils and crockery for two persons provided. Bring your own bread knife though if you need something to slice through a loaf. The two dining chairs should last the rest of the season with one having wobbly legs and needing replacement. All in all the accommodation was good and I would recommend it if only for the ideal sea view location. Some have described the interior decor as tired, but considering the close location to sand, water and the weather there is always going to be compromises - the flooring and skirting boards visibly affected but expected. No recycling on site! Had to use the skips at Sainsbury's. My only gripe is that the DVD player did not work properly with a brand new DVD with the film constantly freezing, jumping and skipping to a different scene. Also the freeview reception was often pixelated due to a bad connection or reception. Not a big issue, just disappointing on a cold evening in doors.

Waking up right on the beach is the best. The cottage is warm and homely. Could do with a little attention on the maintenance and the bed was not the most comfortable. But all in all I would stay there again and again.
