  • "We have been several times, it is looking a little tired."

Some floor tiles/coverings are lifting a little, the worktops are not as secure as they were. The lavatory needs its sistern repairing. The bottle opener is broken. BUT we had a brilliant time, the cottage is in an ideal place for us, beach before breakfast and close to amenities. The lack of wi-fi does not worry us and we love the trains! I only let you know about the cottage for the sake of others so you can do the adjustments needed. We love it there and hope to return.

  • "Toilet "terrifying at best and potentially dangerous" the toilet seat shifts underneath you which causes a shock, this really needs fixing and has been mentioned before."

The toilet is also very hard to flush. The shower could do with refreshing, some of the grout is black and it could do with a deep clean. Hot water, very hot, but runs out after a couple of people have showered. Not ideal for a cottage that sleeps six. Shower cubicle also tiny and could do with a caddy in there. And an extra bath mat or two. Due to the toilet seat and shower this accommodation is not suitable for people with mobility difficulties. The kitchen is very well stocked with practically anything you could need to prepare a meal, so we were happy with that. The sofas and the beds are comfortable enough. The vertical blind across the patio door has no pulley so has to be drawn across by hand from the top. We loved the garden and proximity to the sea. Just for clarity (and again for anyone with mobility issues) if you wanted to get to the beach from the garden one has to climb up and over two walls (each approximately a metre high). There is then the high sea wall before you can get to the beach, with the closest steps down being adjacent to the surf club. As an aside, the footpaths to Marazion are very narrow at times, with drop curbs not always flat / available, making it quite unsuitable (and again, unsafe) for wheelchair users. Still issues with windows, which sound as though they need replacing across the entire complex. Would love for there to be recycling facilities. Ironically, the welcome pack is an "eco box". Which, even more ironically, contained soap made from cow tallow and biscuits containing milk. Animal agriculture is one of the leading causes of climate breakdown and has detrimental environmental impact across the world. Also, switching to Ocean Saver products would be a far better idea as they don't contain any chemicals detrimental to marine life. But having said all this we have booked again for next year, as we know what to expect, but hope all the feed back is listened to and acted upon.

Windows require sealing the wind blows in off the sea and the blinds stand outwards, cold. Shower cubicle is a disgrace. Silicon is going black, door handle falling off every time. Shower head, I had to clean. Most important the shower 'on' handle takes 2 people to turn it on. This has been mentioned numerous times before, please don't ignore much longer. We are back in August to another property near by. I will check and shame!!!

  • "The sea front property is lovely and in a great location for the beach, the local pub listed as near by is being refurbished so currently closed, overall it’s clean and tidy but there are a few issues, the freezer compartment needs defrosting as makes all the food covered in ice and spills onto the floor when you open it, the blind in the living room has no cord, the toilet needs a good clean and the seat is ill fitting, the shower door handle comes off in your hand and the windows are filthy inside and out and poorly fitting so there is a lot of wind noise, the beds are also very firm."

The outside space is shared but as the property allows dogs it could do with being fenced off as it’s not enclosed and your pet can escape. These minor issues shouldn’t detract from what is a beautiful location with stunning views of St Michael’s mount. and the beach and sea are a stones throw away.

  • "General we were happy with the property with some disappointing niggles."

    1) The shower controls were a problem. The handy man who came to see us said “it needed looking at”. It needed both of us to operate it. 2) There was a problem with freezer compartment. It kept producing ice. 3) The lounge blinds had lost it pull string. It made it impossible to open and close them. 4) Ants were an ever present problem. Spraying them seemed to slow them down. 5) I know it said there was no WiFi, but I will not book a property on holiday again, unless it has WiFi. The irony of you giving us web details for contacting you was not lost on me.

Property was well equipped but in need of a refresh and deep clean. Unfortunately we also couldn’t get the heating to work, having stayed in other properties on the complex previously I don’t think it was us and it was in fact faulty. Luckily we had hot water and it wasn’t a super cold week. There were 2 portable heaters but only one worked. This isn’t the first time we have been disappointed with a Sykes property and whilst we have already booked one in June I doubt we will be using them again. Such a shame as location is fabulous and with some care could be a great property.

Initial impression was postive albeit the property looked a little dated .But it was really cleaned well . There are lots of kitchen equipment such has washer, dishwasher microwave etc . Cooker did the job really well ( cooked christmas dinner) The beds were comfortable However 3 bedrooms large twin bedded room ,moderate double ( we used) and a small double which no one could use due to the windows which let in the wind & cold that room even with radiator on was freezing cold & the blind blew up & down . The double windows were the same & we kept the blinds down & large object were placed in window sill in effort to block the wind & cold . The patio door leaked rain water & flooded the floor ( we used towels to soak it up as we had no mop or anything else ) Bathroom was in need of a renovation & I wouldnt use the shower as it looked grungy ( black stains on grout & more sealant than should be needed around outside just looked a mess .Shower reported to be powerful . Nice size bathroom tho with separate shower cubicle & bath ,toilet, sink . The plastic toilet brush holder was broken & there were "bits " left in it . Heating was working well & hot water ( ran out once mid bath) however the windows were not fit for purpose . We had storm Garret during our stay which made the lack of effect windows & doors more evident . When I rang sykes to complain I was more or less accused of leaving it too late to report the issues & was only after compensation!! Well the small double problems on came to light when the rest of the guest arrived & room found to very cold & draughty & unusable . I guess summertime not all is evident . Did I think it was worth the hyped up amount of money we paid for over Christmas ,certainly not ,and to be freezing cold in some rooms & unable to use one of the bedrooms No I felt robbed & angry it spoilt our stay

Generally speaking this bungalow has enormous potential, but is let down by the poor quality of everything within in, furniture, lighting (every lamp wobbles) flooring (this is all scratched and gappy) kitchen utensils, and bedding. In addition to this the windows have absolutely no insulation at all and needed to be blocked with pillows in the bedrooms, to stop the draughts coming through them. The site of the bungalows is maintained to a beautiful standard, full credit goes to the gardener who we saw working very hard most days. I hope this is a useful review, though after ten years of returning we have lost hope that they will ever be refurbished to the standard the price of renting it commands. Yours Sincerely, Mrs Smith.

Last year we had problems with ants invading the property both inside and out and noisy unruly children from the other properties invading our personal space. This year although we received an e mail saying it would be sorted it was much worse. Ants in the kitchen in our food on the floor and we couldnt use the picnic bench outside because they were all over it. We took ant traps with us and had to purchase in all 5 ant powders and 2 sprays still they came. We left a day early because had had enough.. Not just the ants but once again next door seemed to be visiting with family in another of the bungalow. Allowed their childrent o run arounf our bungalow and thud and scream on a morning waking us up. Plus they had the children from further up constantly running past. Playing football on the grass and the other side of us riding on the grass o their bikes. We had no peace what with one thing and another. The larger of the 2 beds in the front bedroom needsa mattress change. I was crippled with pain every morning. The matress slopes from one side to next the left slope is rock hard and the right the springs are sticking in plus a hard ridge where the bases dont meet and leave a gap.The price was almost double what we we paid last year and certainly not worth the money. The cleaners need to use domestos to clean the toilet it was badly stained and not very nice plus the matress cover on my bed was stained in parts. The whole place needs pest control in to rid the ants which is a health risk. More privacy signs in place and no football or cycle riding on the grass especially in the area of the patio (which we were unable to sit at because of ants) and perimiter of bungalow itself. Adults and kids walking and cycling past staring in the windows. Came home day early because we had enough wont be rebooking or recommending and certainly not value for the money they are now asking. Very dissapointed after last year and owner saying problem would be sorted for us this time.

The property itself was infested with ants, found a pair of Knickers left on the radiator and a pair of socks left in the drawer. someone had also left an item of clothing behind the bed! The patio doors would not lock/open correctly and the blinds were broke and could not shut them. We contacted Sykes for and offered to pay for an upgrade after night 1 who were useless, no help at all and said the contract was with the property owner not them, we left after 4 days and came home to wales! The people in the property next door also experienced issues and left early also. having used Sykes on a number of previous occasions i was really disappointed with the service i received and felt left out to dry. i would avoid this property at all costs, and i would think twice about booking with Sykes again, very disappointed, I would like a call from someone to discuss further and my email were ignored when at the property.

we had a problem with an infestation of ants . The patio door doesnt close completely and they had come through the gap overnight so living area was overrun with them also smaller of the double bedroom coming i from hole in wall where it looks like wardrobe has been removed. We had to use the ant spray constantly which you had left under sink so you were obviously aware. Our privacy was invaded by the 4 children staying opposite in station cottage who thought they had a right to run around screaming down the passage way between our bungalow and the one next door and play on the grassy area in front of our outside picnic bench. They were asked politely to stop doing it so it was a bit stressful having to deal with that. However i have to say your bungalow is beautiful and myself being disabled found it very easy to move about and comfortable. My son daughter in law and my 2 grandchildren loved how close we were to the sea the comfort inside and the outside area. We would like to return again but for 2 weeks next time.

The stay comes with a small fridge, an oven with electric hob, a dishwasher and washing machine. Very handy if your planning on making your own meals instead of eating out (though if you're planning to eat out in Marazion make sure you book in advance as it gets very busy and there aren't a huge choice of restaurants). All pots, pans, plates and cutlery are provided. Though the chopping knife in our accomodation was very blunt. Unfortunately there is no WIFI but there is a TV, so we brought a laptop with HDMI cable and watched downloaded films and DVD's through the TV that way. You can get an open top bus from just outside the entrance which can take you on a circular tour of Cornwall, over to St Ives, then Lands End and back around to here. Hopping on and off whenever.
