  • "We have stayed here for many years and little has been done in that time."

The entire bungalows are now in a very poor state of repair. The patio door literally fell off the rail and almost fell onto a small child. It took 3 days to wait for it to be bodged back together. Then they had the cheek to say it was the kids pulling the door despite it happening within minutes of getting access to the property. The shower tubing is broken so the shower falls down constantly and sadly caught my son on the head leaving him with a large bump and bruise. Mold all around the bath, bathroom smelt damp and of urine. Shower leaks all over the floor everytime you shower which ruined the white towels. The patio door lock is STILL broken 4 years on so only opens from the inside. Paint peeling off all over the walls. Under the chairs and beds is filthy dirty. I don't really know what else to say except just spend a little of the money you are making on maintaining what could very very lovely bungalows. They are dangerous and we won't be going back!! Sykes how much longer are you going to ignore all these reviews!! It is such a shame no one seems to care about all these problems. It won't be long until the owners have a very large compensation bill to pay so be warned!!

Plenty of space for 5 adults and an infant. A good selection of kitchen utensils/pots. The blinds on the patio doors were nearly hanging off and difficult to open/close and the toilet seat needs to be fixed, other than that really nice. A good size space in the shared garden and the most beautiful view. Easy access to the beach with an infant.

  • "Having stayed in Seahorses twice last year this time opted we for this larger bungalow as my elderly mother is disabled plus it has wifi."

On arrival we found the property reasonably clean & tidy, the beds were very comfortable with nice pillows and bedding. The kitchen was very well equipped and plenty of storage throughout. The property details say it has a twin room however the largest one has a double & single bed in it which is simply impractical ( we kept banging our legs in the end of the bed frames ) and one of the other two doubles is also not designed to have a double bed in it as there was no space for a bedside cabinet and would work better as a single/ bunk bedded room ( as commented upon in previous reviews I’ve seen ) The details do say sleeps 6 so 7 beds is too many. There is no towel rail in the bathroom near the sink - the wooden hooks on the wall at the end of the bath aren’ very practical and the toilet seat is on an angle and badly needs refitting. The patio door blind is hanging off one end and difficult to open/close as-well as impossible to adjust . It’s ipretty poor / disappointing that these issues have been mentioned by others and still not rectified. Also to concur with others the fridge is far too small for 6 - just a thought but why not replace this with a small freezer and install a tall larder fridge ( they are fairly cheap we saw one online for under £200) and there is plenty of space for one ? We did clean the rest of the dirty windows ( our family did the south facing ones when they stayed here a couple of weeks ago) and although the floors looked clean they clearly weren ‘t given how dirty our bare feet were from walking on it so we bought a swiffer mop and wipes and cleaned it. The property ( as with the others on site) is desperately in need of replacement door & windows which would make a huge difference as most are drafty & not very secure. We did have a minor issue with earwigs, although thankfully not as bad as the occupants of two of the other properties who had bad infestations. Again, this is symptomatic of the fact the properties are no doubt prone to damp access/ egress because of the badly fitted doors and windows. Despite the negatives , we do really like everything else here, ideal for Mums mobility issues and also close proximity to the beach , eateries & supermarkets.. We have already booked it again next year and it would be appreciated if some of the previously mentioned issues could be resolved by then.

  • "We are returning visitors to this lovely little place."

It is in such an ideal location for exploring and visiting favourite places, and just perfect for our families needs. The cottage is placed between the railway and the sea so naturally takes a beating from the elements. It has new beds since we last visited, very nice they are too. The kitchen has everything we could need, I don't go on holiday too cook meals!, washing machine in the cottage was very handy, and the bathroom is clean and tidy. Plenty of parking, right on the doorstep. Showers lovely and powerful and hot, plenty of hot water too. We even had to use the heating this year (a first in June) which worked very well, heating up the cottage very quickly. We will of course be returning next year, very sad to leave "our holiday home"

  • "New mattresses and pillows a huge improvement, property was also cleaner than on other visits."

Toilet seat still doesn’t fit and patio door is breezy in windy weather. Could Sykes not ask clients to provide their car registration number on booking? We forgot to put the permit in the windscreen one night and at 8.15am the next morning we received a parking fine of £60. Those operating this system would have clearly seen the permit on the car the previous 4 days. Apart from that we enjoy visiting the properties.

  • "Overall we were satisfied, but not rapturous about the cottage."

It is of sound modern construction. Whilst it is not advertised as such, I am disabled and generally found I could access everywhere reasonably okay. It was handy to have 3 large supermarkets within a few minutes' drive and there are some nice beach-side cafes/restaurants just a couple of minutes walk away. The coastal path going towards Marazion is difficult to navigate and I did not manage to get all the way there on my mobility scooter. The position adjacent to the beach is good, but we had hoped to be able to sit in the grounds to admire the sea. Unfortunately the bank and coast path between the cottages and beach hid the view. It was quite cold for June and I was surprised to need to put the central heating on for the bathroom and back bedroom. The windows were filthy - as though they had never been cleaned. We took it upon ourselves to clean the south facing windows. The interior was reasonably clean, except . . . don't look under the beds! We were a party of 3 and overall the accommodation was of adequate size. However, we would not have liked to be part of a group of 6 or 7. There are 3 bedrooms (we had 1 each). One room was large enough for a double bed, but squeezing a further single in there was ridiculous. The other two rooms had double beds, when really each would have been better with a single, or possibly bunk beds. There was ample storage throughout the cottage, with one exception. The under-counter fridge is inadequate - certainly not big enough for a party of 6. It has an ice box (for which we bought an ice-cube tray!), but no freezer provision. Water pressure is very powerful, but beware the hot water - it is scalding. Access to the shower over the bath is difficult for elderly or disabled people. A grab rail would make all the difference. Again, speaking for the less physically able, the table and bench seats in the garden are too low. My wife had to take a kitchen chair out, whilst I sat in my mobility scooter.

Whilst the location is great (if you are ok with the train line) and the views are amazing, the cottage needs some serious TLC and investment. We reported the broken beds in 2021 - these were still in place, with 3 out of 4 being unusable until the very lovely maintenance man fixed two of them. This was also reported by previous occupants this season. The TV required retuning every day; Wi-Fi was inconsistent; clothes airer only had 3 legs so we had to use it upside down; coffee machine was missing the water reservoir; patio door no longer locks and whilst an attempt has been made to secure it with bolts the other side this was not secure. The fridge is just not big enough for the number of potential occupants. It's such a shame as we loved this property so much in 2021 hence wanting to return this year. It would be great to see some investment and TLC as this really is a hidden gem of a holiday location.

  • "A generously sized kitchen lounge diner with patio doors looking over mounts bay and St Michael's mount."

There is a plentiful supply of hot water with an excellent shower in the good sized bathroom. It is evident that there has been money spent in the recent past but there are some shortfalls in the kitchen area. In particular, the fridge would seem to be the original built in unit, which is very small and inadequate for a six person holiday visit. The freezer compartment door does not close properly which means the freezer compartment frosts up rapidly. There is plenty of room to put in a modern stacking fridge freezer at the end of the work surface. The cooker hood is very dilapidated with the cover over the light broken and hanging down and the casing of the unit is covered in brown marks! Of the three bedrooms the largest which should be the master is overcrowded with a double and an extra single bed. There is another small bedroom with a double bed up against the wall. The only bedroom with access to both sides of a double bed is small and awkwardly shaped with six sides making it very cramped. We feel that the sleeping arrangements would be much more convenient if the single bed was removed. Notwithstanding these criticisms we enjoyed our stay especially as there is a real ale pub 100 yards away.

Thank you for completing your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. The property is currently undergoing an upgrade. We hope that we can welcome you back to Cornwall in the future. Property Owner

Booking was easy and clear. We were really close to the beach and the kids loved being able to walk there. However, the lack of cleanliness was a massive let down. We had an ant problem on the first two days. I contacted the phone number provided and they told me to just use the spray under the sink (indicating they knew it was a problem). We had a 3 year old and an 18 month old with us, so using spray was not an acceptable solution. Instead we ended up buying our own traps. I am not surprised we had ants because the floors were quite frankly disgusting. I had to ask them for a hoover because it clearly hadn’t been done and we bought floor cleaner to clean all the floors. Within 10 minutes of arriving our feet were black and covered in bits. In addition, the bathroom was horrendous and we cleaned it all ourselves. We do not have overly high standards, but it felt like it hasn’t even been cleaned from the last visitors, which is gross and unacceptable. On our first day we had no supplies such as dishwasher tablets, wash sponges etc so we ended up buying them as we thought they were supplied. Low and behold day 2 they arrived, a little late. The beds were so lumpy and uncomfortable and everything about this place is cheap. The windows and doors are simply disgusting and covered in cobwebs - you feel dirty opening them. the front door doesn’t open easily so if ever there was a fire it would be a hazard. All in all we enjoyed the holiday but we would never stay in this property again and I would recommend you don’t either unless you like coming on holiday to clean and fight off ants!
