  • "A hidden gem in Cornwall."

Great location overlooking the marina. To sit and watch the busy river traffic in the sunshine was great. Water taxi into Fowey or Polruan an added bonus. Owners were really helpful with requests which made for a great stay.

  • "We had a wonderful holiday at Creekside, perfect for three generations with older children and teenagers, though I think it would be hard work with small children."

Loads to do and see for everyone, we had paddleboards, kayaks and hired a boat, which was delivered to our pontoon. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook for big family meals. The gardener who came to cut the lawn was lovely. We were very happy with our choice and would love to come back again.

Thank you for your lovely review! It is indeed ideal for three generations Yes I think Creekside is less Bucket and Spade and more Swallows and Amazons! Property Owner

  • "We loved our stay at this beautiful property."

It had everything that we needed to ensure a relaxing stay. The owner was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed - including fresh asparagus from the garden. Unfortunately during our stay the main glass patio doors in the living room did not open which was a shame as we would have liked to be able to hear the river and enjoy the views a little more. Only small critique (the house really was lovely) was the downstairs rooms - mainly the children’s room felt a little damp. Given the age and location of the property I don’t believe there is anything that can be done about this, we just made sure we kept it well ventilated. We would 100% come back and would recommend a stay!

  • "The kitchen at Creekside is brilliantly equipped, and the property upstairs is faultless."

Downstairs the children’s bedroom and family bathroom and en-suite bedroom all felt very damp and in need of some TLC. The covid check in check out times were restrictive an earlier arrival time would be useful as we had children with us 5pm was too late. Check out by 9 is very tight and to be honest didn’t make for a relaxing end to our stay. I’ve never stayed at a cottage with such late and early arrivals and departure timings so I’m guessing it’s covid related but would suggest Sykes re- address it. The communication was good and despite the fact we had a toddler and a baby in our party, Creekside, was a great property for our numbers and easily manageable with the children.

Dear Mrs Simpson-Hall Thank you for taking the time to write your comments on Creekside House. We do appreciate helpful comments that enable us to make Creekside even more comfortable. Over the winter months we carry out a programme of improvements and decoration which unfortunately this year did not get completed. The nursery was on the list to be stripped out and re-decorated but before it was started one member of the team caught Covid and this was unfortunately passed on to others. Consequently the nursery only had a quick touch up before the letting season began. After that, there was no opportunity to decorate it as Creekside has been booked every week. As regards the smell of damp in the en suite bedroom, this is not something we have encountered and has not been reported before and we will certainly be investigating this when we go down to Cornwall. The check in times had to be moved from our usual check in at 4.00pm and departure at 10 to give our hard working team of cleaners time to comply with the new Covid cleaning regulations. In the case of a property the size of Creekside, this does take time. I do not want the cleaners to sacrifice the standard of cleaning that our regular visitors appreciate in order to do the Covid clean and thus the arrival and departure times had to be moved this year in order to cope with this. I hope you enjoyed your holiday at Mixtow and look forward to welcoming you back sometime in the future, Kind regards Christina Geering Property Owner

Superb house in a superb location- extremely well equipped - renting a boat from Maurice is a must (it makes life easy for getting to Fowey but is great fun too) - we enjoyed every minute

The views were amazing. The location is special. The beds are super comfortable and we would insist on people hiring a boat to get out and about. A wonderful experience!

The property

As you walk down to Creekside from the parking area, the view of Mixtow Creek just below the house is breathtaking.

All the main rooms look on to the moored boats and activity on the water.

A short stroll takes you from the pretty walled garden down to our private pontoon where visitors can keep a boat, either their own or hired from Fowey River Boat Hire.

The large covered porch, where visitors keep their surf boards, fishing rods and oars, leads through the stable door to the boot room and past the cloakroom to the kitchen.

The kitchen is very well equipped with all the things you would hope to find in your holiday home.

The large island looks onto the Fowey River, there are two Miele ovens and microwave, and a large French style fridge freezer will take care of all your cold food storage.

Double doors from the kitchen lead to the sitting/dining room with a wall of sliding glass doors facing the water and the river towards Fowey and Polruan, and another glass door leads to steps to the walled garden with pond and summerhouse, linked by the wrap around glass and stainless steel balcony where you can enjoy the view over Mixtow Creek and downstream to Fowey There are two outside eating areas, one is on the terrace right above the water and another is in the walled garden from which you can keep an eye on the boats moored below whilst you sip something chilled.

A glass and stainless steel wrap around balcony is an ideal place to watch other members of your party paddle boarding or do a spot of bird watching from the comfort of the sitting room.

On the same level as the kitchen and sitting room is one of the main bedrooms with king size bed, en suite bathroom with shower over the bath, bidet and WC .

A glass door from the bedroom opens onto a private balcony that is ideal for taking that early morning cup of tea whilst watching the tide at the head of the creek.

There are four other bedrooms downstairs a twin room with vanity basin, a children’s room with bunk beds and a single bed, a king size double and a super king in the master bedroom, which has a dressing room and en suite shower room.

A family bathroom serves the other bedrooms and a door from the corridor opens out onto the dining terrace.

Travel over to the town centre of Fowey for all your necessary amenities and explore the local shops, pubs and restaurants before enjoying a gentle stroll around the bustling harbour, and other local attractions such as Ready Money Cove and ferry rides over to Polruan.

Embark on outdoor adventure and head out on one of the beautiful walking and cycling trails over to the incredible South West Coast Path, boasting sensational views of seascapes and enchanting coves.

Make sure to visit Cornwall's renowned attractions just a short drive away, including the Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, the fishing ports of Mevagissey and Charlestown, the Shipwreck Treasure Museum, Pinetum Gardens, and Porthpean Beach.

Alternatively, spend a day in the exciting town of St Austell which boasts even more amenities and eateries to indulge in, or choose to visit the pretty coastal spots of Polperro and Looe.
