  • "When we arrived there was no heating or hot water."

There was no number to call in the folder provided on the kitchen table. So after looking at the Sykes website we eventually found a number but it was a long drawn out process to get through to someone. Eventually after a couple of hours the housekeeper arrived who was very friendly and fixed the problem. The dishwasher drawer was broken. There was a broken pane of glass in one of the bedrooms along with a lot of mould on the walls. There was also a lot of damp in the bedroom with bunk beds. Very disappointing. A lot of these problems have been mentioned previously so I don’t understand why they haven’t been fixed. The cottage was lovely and spacious and these problems let it down.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review following your stay. We are glad to hear you found Atlantic Cottage lovely and spacious,  and our lovely housekeeper was able to resolve the heating issue swiftly, we will ensure contact numbers are displayed more prominently in the property going forward.  The dishwasher is fully operational, we have recently had a carpenter attend to make the door open and close more smoothly. The broken window pane will be repaired over the winter period, the property is triple glazed and it is the middle panel that is affected so poses no risk to guests. The property was checked for mould before your stay, as due to the close proximity to moorland and the sea this can appear quite quickly,  in the old part of the house we do have dehumidifiers and shortly a decorator will be attending to reapply mould/damp resistant paint.  Once again thank you for your feedback all issues mentioned are in the process of being addressed. • "Broken window pane in king room Hot tap in bathroom loose Shelf in bathroom not level Dishwasher tablet drawer broken & dishwasher not working (reported) Tap in kitchen loose No outside light Dog/baby gate not working & in a dangerous position Toaster rusted TVs in bedrooms would be nice Wooden floor in en-suite room uneven."

Not much hanging space for clothes Wall lights not working in lounge Soft closures on kitchen cabinet doors would be nice (some had them on) Car parking very tight Electrical equipment didn’t have pat testing stickers

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback, I feel I must respond to this as the comments you have made do not mirror our usually positive and complimentary feedback. Atlantic Cottage has triple glazing and there is a small crack in one window to the middle pane of glass, this will be fixed shortly, but as this is the middle pane it does not pose a risk to guests. The taps are newly fitted, we have not noticed they are loose but this will be checked. The dishwasher is in working order and having stayed at the property recently I can confirm this to be accurate as we used it daily. There are outside lights to the front of the property. The baby/dog gate is in working order and perfectly safe and due to the nature of the staircase this is the only way it can be fitted to function correctly. We are not aware that there is any rust on the toaster, this was not visible when we were at the property, this will be checked. We are waiting to have the wall lights in the lounge repaired, unfortunatly this is not an easy fix, but there are two lamps and a central light in the lounge so there are plenty of other options for guests. We have received no other complaints regarding the space in the wardrobes and the car parking, therefore we feel this is not an issue. PAT testing is not a legal requirement, although we do have a current Electrical Safety Certificate, where the whole property has been checked and deemed to be safe. We were not made aware of all the issues raised during your stay if we had of been we would have been able to rectify them. We invite potential guests to view our feedback as a whole and look forward to welcoming you to Atlantic Cottage in the future.   Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, and a great base to explore the surrounding area."

We ventured East, West and South from here, but I would say that a car is essential if you want to explore. The local village, has a shop, a pub and a chip shop. However, if you are self catering, the cottage has everything you need (and more), to make it a real home from home.

  • "We’ve just come back from a week away at Atlantic Cottage."

We were 2 families of 4 (4 adults and 4 children.) on arrival, the house was immaculate, very well equipped and provided excellent space for the 8 of us. The beds were super comfy, the water pressure was brilliant, the lounge and kitchen and plenty of space for us all to sit together. The area is lovely with lots to see within a short drive. We visited many beautiful places including port Isaac, rock, tintagel castle, delmar bay, rockey valley, padstow and many more. The local farm shop, sea view farm shop, was brilliant for local produce and the views and sunset from there were stunning! We would have no hesitation in recommending this wonderful home for your holiday!

  • "Furniture fittings were not good and had a few things break when used I."

E curtain rail, garden chair ect The place itself would’ve been great if the fittings were to a higher standard. When we reported this spoke to three different people And no response as of yet.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you had a couple of problems with the furniture. The property has been newly renovated and all the fixtures and fittings were brand new. The items mentioned were all rectified within 24 hours of us being made aware. We hope you enjoyed your stay and would look forward to seeing you again in the future. Property Owner

About the location

DELABOLE

Tintagel 3.5 miles; Camelford 3.4 miles; Port Isaac 5.3 miles.

At one time the producer of the world’s best quality building and ornamental slate, this now sleepy village is just 2.5 miles from the high cliffs and dramatic scenery of the north Cornish coastline. Perfectly placed for walking the South West coastal path, exploring the high places of nearby Bodmin Moor, or for lazing on the beach at nearby Trebarwith Strand, it’s a well-placed holiday base. The peaceful harbour village of Port Isaac and the town of Tintagel, with its tourist attractions and King Arthur’s legendary castle, are both a short drive, while the stunning surfing beach at Polzeath is a mere nine miles away. Slaughtersbridge, where King Arthur reputedly fought his last battle, is five minutes away and a drive north along the coast takes in the beautiful cove at Crackington Haven. An area away from the main tourist crowds, but very central to a vast array of places and activities. Delabole Quarry itself is just down the road and is an interesting tourist attraction with stunning views. It is the gateway to great countryside walks.
