  • "Goose cottage is beautifully decorated and has everything you need for a comfortable stay."

The view from the very secluded back garden was just stunning, lots of wildlife and we even had donkeys!! Everything was perfect I wouldn’t have changed a thing. The only very minor thing was there was no where for you to put your tooth brush! A little cup on the side would fix this. The cottage is in a very good location for most things. We did venture into the village to use the spa shop for a few things as we had already booked for Tesco to come and drop the big shop off on arrival day. The village does have a fish and chip shop too which had great reviews but we didn’t make use of it so can’t comment. Take a walk to Delabole slate query which is only 20 mins away and makes a nice change. Overall fantastic stay and would definitely come back.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It's great to hear that you had such a fabulous stay and had the perfect base to explore the local area from. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was beautiful."

Really peaceful and well furnished. My only complaint is that we paid £250 for a swim spa but we received a hot tub instead with no prior notice and no mention of a refund. We will be asking for our money back on this aspect, however overall the cottage and holiday in general was lovely.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back anytime in the future. The swim spa IS the hot tub, our apologies if this caused a confusion. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

The cooking knives are very blunt particularly the bread knives. A steamer would also be useful. We’ve given the property 5 stars so I hope this feedback is seen as helpful.

  • "Wonderful stay."

Facilities superb. Only downside is the horrible neighbour who told my disabled son that she was glad he’d lost his little (8cm) drone in her field and refused to let him retrieve it. I guess that this highlights a friction between visitors and unwelcoming locals.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back anytime in the future. Sorry to hear about the neighbour, drones can be a contentious issue with people - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

The only this we would suggest is the bathroom have shelving as we found we couldn’t put our toiletries to hand when in the bath. But overall the property is very homely

  • "Lovely cottage in a lovely location, great views too."

Lovely to welcome basket (I now have a new addiction to kernows line and ginger chocolate!). Really enjoyed being here however for the price I would expect the shower drain not to be clogged to the extent that it was. It would not drain on use which would be obvious to anyone rinsing the shower when cleaning it (which concerns me that it hasn't been cleaned well) and when I took it out it was covered in hair suggesting it has not been cleaned in some time. Reported to the agents but not sorted during our stay. I addition the bath tap leaked causing it to drip over the bathroom floor which as a cold unventilated house didn't dry very easily without using the bathmat supplies which was then soggy throughout our stay. Again, reported to the agents but not sorted during our stay. Listing needs to he a bit clearer regarding fencing for garden as was not suitable for my dogs as it was open down to a brook on one side meaning I couldn't just let them out there off lead. It should also be made clearer on arrival that everything is switched off including the fridge (a concept i totally understand but would not expect a fridge to be off). I had a food shop delivered on arrival and did not realise the fridge was not on. Thankfully a midnight snack made me realise but by this point it had ruined our freezer food.

We are pleased you enjoyed the cottage and its location. We do apologise for any maintenance issues during your stay, these were raised with the in-house caretaker at the time - they did go round but there was a dog left alone in the property so they couldn't go in - but we are sorry these issues were not fixed during your stay. We have since not been able to find a dripping tap, however, but the house is ventilated. We will raise the issue with the fridge being off with the housekeeper but are sorry for any inconvenience caused. We do hope that we get the opportunity to welcome you back to Cornwall in the future. John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "The property is lovely, the facilities are excellent and the location was wonderful."

A welcome basket was supplied containing some lovely treats which we were delighted with. My concern was the garden / patio area which for adults and older children is lovely - with uninterrupted countryside views that reach to the far horizon. But for dogs (and probably small children), what the pictures don't show is a drainage ditch extending out from the patio area which is separated by a single wooden sleeper (1 ft high max) which a dog could easily jump over (or small child trip over). The wooden framed fence which extends across the majority of the garden is in need of some repair in places, the wire fencing fastened to it to keep pets secure was missing in one section (nearest the fence) and we had to improvise something to fill the gap as my dog was very interested in meeting the cows in the next field. With a few tweaks this could be a lovely pet safe area. Having said all of this we would definitely return.

Thank you for your lovely feedback, we are so pleased you enjoyed the property so much. We will raise your concerns with the garden area with the property's on-site caretaker. • "Goose cottage is a superb holiday property in a cluster of 4 properties all of which are adequately spaced without being over looked, the view from the property is far reaching and there is plenty of privacy on the outside of the cottage."

It is located remotely next to a working farm. We were able to relax and enjoy our time. The weather was rubbish however due to the comfort that the property provides staying in on the odd day didn’t prevent us from enjoying ourselves. The cleanliness and homely furnishing were second to none and it was well equipped. A really nice touch was the welcome pack of a bottle of bubbly and scented candle. Please sort out the description on your website regards bedding etc… it doesn’t mention that it is provided. Fantastic stay Thanks we will recommend to our friends and definitely book another stay.

  • "It's a delightful cottage, a real home from home."

Glorious extensive views towards st Austell. Very comfortable, and slept well. The double room has a king size bed, which felt luxurious. Good bedside reading lights a thoughtful touch. Plenty of hot water. Very quiet. And amazing wildlife including bats and three hedgehogs who explore the patio at night, and can be heard snuffling in the undergrowth. Overall Goose cottage was not just somewhere to stay, it made the holiday. Very helpful staff at John Bray Holidays felt like personal service. I would offer two small suggestions: at this price point i would have expected top quality lined curtains in the living room which would have made the room feel cosier at night and brought together the colour scheme. The flimsy net curtains felt like an after thought. Better scatter cushions would have provided a colour focus. Also two floating shelves in the bathroom, one above the hand basin, and one above the bath would have been useful for holding bathroom products. The wooden 'over bath' contraption was a problem as it kept falling in the bath, while the lack of over storage over the hand basin meant things kept falling in. Overall rating excellent. We all agreed we'd like to live there!

Really enjoyed our stay. My only issue was the front of the cottage which has a beautiful grassed area but unfortunately is not enclosed as the other cottages also have access so if you have dogs they can run off as so many fields accessible.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back anytime in the future! About the location

DELABOLE

Tintagel 3.5 miles; Camelford 3.4 miles; Port Isaac 5.3 miles.

At one time the producer of the world’s best quality building and ornamental slate, this now sleepy village is just 2.5 miles from the high cliffs and dramatic scenery of the north Cornish coastline. Perfectly placed for walking the South West coastal path, exploring the high places of nearby Bodmin Moor, or for lazing on the beach at nearby Trebarwith Strand, it’s a well-placed holiday base. The peaceful harbour village of Port Isaac and the town of Tintagel, with its tourist attractions and King Arthur’s legendary castle, are both a short drive, while the stunning surfing beach at Polzeath is a mere nine miles away. Slaughtersbridge, where King Arthur reputedly fought his last battle, is five minutes away and a drive north along the coast takes in the beautiful cove at Crackington Haven. An area away from the main tourist crowds, but very central to a vast array of places and activities. Delabole Quarry itself is just down the road and is an interesting tourist attraction with stunning views. It is the gateway to great countryside walks.
