  • "We had a wonderful stay at Bodillys, the cottage was very clean and comfortable and in a great location."

It was very well equipped with everything we could possibly need and the added touches of a cream tea and dog treats were lovely. The location was perfect for some lovely long coastal walks and the working harbour gave the town a vibrant feel. We would definitely recommend this property to stay in.

Thank you for the kind words, we're so pleased you enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back anytime! Property Owner

  • "A beautiful cottage with all facilities catered for."

It was even better than the pictures online. The location of this cottage was perfect a few steps from the Harbour, bus stop, pub and shops closeby. We had a lovely comfortable stay and would definitely recommend.

  • "The cottage was very comfortable & generally well equipped, although more cutlery & crockery would have been appreciated especially as there was a dish washer which we couldn’t use because of this."

We ended up buying washing up liquid & hand washing. The second double bedroom was very cramped & was more the size of a single. The stairs were steep as advised but the handrail didn’t go to the top of the stairs so coming down was a bit precarious. The cottage was well situated & the garden very attractive. The cream tea & dog biscuits were a lovely idea & appreciated. Generally the cottage was lovely & a couple of adjustments would make it ideal.

thanks for the feedback Christine and we're glad you had a lovely stay. there is hand washing in the brown pump jars next to the sinks and refill packs under the sink but we will check these are still full! We'll be adding a handrail over winter at the top of the stairs - we haven't had a chance to do this over the summer with bookings being back to back! And we shall add a second set of cutlery on your feedback! thanks again and so come back :) Gussy and Tom Property Owner

  • "A sensitive restoration of a fisherman’s cottage, with all modern amenities, right by the quay and bus stop, The garden is rather special, wider than the average garden for the row of cottages, with a sun trap raised patio area."

comfortable bed. The Courtyard was great for the dogs. we were lucky with the weather, had warm and sunny days. Only rained on 1 day. we used the bus to the train station, there is plenty to do in Newlyn. went to St Ives by train and no problem. Godolphin hotel excellent food. we certainly had a great time and will return to Bodillys Cottage. Nice touch the scones and clotted cream, and dog biscuits, they enjoyed them. Once again thank you for everything. see you again soon Rod and Rose xx

  • "We had a lovely stay here, with everything we needed for the week."

The beds were gloriously comfy after long days hiking the SWCP. Location is excellent as bus stop is just at the end of the lane. We found the cottage clean and warm, loved that we could boost the heat to dry some of our rainy gear on the radiator. We had a wonderful week and highly recommend!

We absolutely loved having you both to stay. Thank you for the kind words and we're so pleased you enjoyed beautiful Cornwall as much as we do. We hope you come back! Property Owner

  • "We had an amazing time - the location was perfect and we loved everything about the cottage - the cream tea and doggy treats on arrival was particularly well received - we were not expecting that at all - and was a lovely surprise."

The cottage was very clean and ideally suited for our needs. There was outside space to relax in and for the dogs to explore - and although in amongst other properties - was actually very private. The garden could maybe do with a bit of trimming back - but this did not detract from our experience at all. We were made very welcome at the Red Lion pub - just at the bottom of the lane - and the Fisherman's Arms just a bit further along - everyone was so friendly. The Fisherman's Arms do amazing food - beautifully presented

We're so delighted to see that you enjoyed your stay in our cottage. Thank you for the lovely feedback and please do come back soon! Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, ideally located to access centre of Newlyn, Penzance plus the coast."

Enjoyed Lamorna Cove and nearby Perranthunoe beach for their Cornish beauty and charm. Comfy beds and sofa. Private pretty terrace to sit on - we were out there every morning and most eves. Was secure for our two dogs. Although there is no parking with the property, a car park is around the corner and costs only £15 for a whole week. Friendly pub, the Red Lion, literally at the bottom of the lane. Only problem was with the wifi which wasn’t working and the temporary dongle was intermittent. Minor issue though! Everything we needed was there and scones, cream jam and milk on arrival. Great stay and we’d love to come back.

Thanks so much Amber for the kind words. Our huge apologies for the internet - the area is undergoing major works which have been tricky. We have now provided a second unlimited dongle which is much faster. We'd love to welcome you back to beautiful Newlyn. Property Owner

About the location

NEWLYN

Penzance 1.2 miles; Marazion 6.6 miles; St Ives 8.9 miles.

Nestled next to Penzance, and although still a quaint town in its own right, Newlyn is actually the third largest fishing port in England, and an important Port of Refuge for all seafaring craft. This Cornish town is clustered around the harbour, with its historic 800 year old quay (the Mayflower actually left for America from this quay, not Plymouth) curling around a few small boats on the western side. Famous for the Newlyn school of Art and Newlyn Copper, the Cornwall Coastal Path passes through the town, as does the level Mousehole to Marazion cycle path. An abundance of wildlife and flora can be enjoyed along both, with basking sharks, dolphins and grey seals often seen. The Cornish coast is renowned for surfing, and Penwith offers some splendid beaches on which to enjoy this sport as well as surf fishing for sea bass. Mounts Bay also offers a wealth of opportunity for watersports enthusiasts as well as giving visitors an opportunity to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings.
