  • "Lovely comfortable property in a good location."

  • "A wonderful cottage, with stunning views."

The owner has obviously taken great care to ensure that it is a 'home from home' with a well-stocked kitchen, amazingly comfortable beds with luxurious bed linens and a powerful shower to wash away the days sun and sand. Spending quality time reading a book with the most amazing views of St Michael's mount with the boats come in and out of Newlyn was an absolute delight, providing a perfect blend of relaxation and scenic beauty. The ever-changing landscape made it a peaceful and picturesque retreat, ideal for unwinding and soaking in the coastal charm. I cannot recommend this cottage enough and will definitely be booking future stays.

  • "The property is ideally situated for public transport since there is a local bus that runs Penzance to Mousehole every 30 mins and has a stop right on the doorstep."

Go into Penzance and you can get anywhere local on the local buses (some open topped going to Lands End which makes for a very fun ride. The property is EXACTLY as described and the view from 2 of the bedrooms is really good. The shower is much much better than you normally get in rental properties since the water pressure is really good and the temperature can be controlled immediately. Even though it is not written, there is a hair dryer. Do NOT ask the "help desk" since they may tell you (as they told me) there isn't one. The internet is really good and supported all 5 of us using phones and also laptops. The only thing that was out of place was the fridge door which should be changed to be hinged on the opposite side. Had we had screwdrivers with us we would have changed it. Apart from that little complaint everything was a perfect as could be and everything worked as it should. Thank you for a lovely cottage holiday.

  • "We had a great stay at Lookout Cottage."

The property was exactly as described and was comfortable and cosy. The view was wonderful over Newlyn Harbour and towards Penzance. Lots of good places to eat nearby, we particularly loved The Fisherman's Arms, which is a couple of minutes walk away. Parking was no problem in the car park at the bottom of the hill. Had a lovely time visiting the Seal Sanctuary near Helston and the Tremenhee Sculpture Garden as well as a mooch around Penzance and some crazy golf. Overall, a lovely holiday in a delightful property.

  • "This is a lovely cottage in an excellent location."

A particular highlight is the view from 3 floors, across Mounts Bay to St Michael's Mount. We had a great week, and enjoyed being within a short walk of the centre of Newlyn. As is made clear, you can't drive right up to the property, but need to transport luggage along a (level) path. We would highly recommend this property.

  • "We were very happy with Lookout Cottage, its location near Newlyn harbour and great views towards St Michael's Mount."

The kitchen is small but plenty of equipment for basic catering. We had no difficulty with the walk uphill from the Sandy Bay car park and appreciated that the footpath access meant no passing traffic. As we came and went, it was lovely to encounter other residents, both locals and visitors like ourselves.

  • "There were no recycling bags or boxes provided."

This necessitated us putting in other residents’ boxes and bags. Apart from that a cracking house in a superb location. All the neighbours are local so you are in true Cornwall.

A system for the recycling has now been implemented. Property Owner

  • "We loved Lookout Cottage."

Fantastic views (even in Feb!). Very well resourced Kitchen. House would be a bit tight for 6, it was fine for us 4 adults. Walk up from the car park was about 10 minutes and not too steep. Caretaker Lisa responded quickly to a couple of questions. A very clean and well organised small house.

  • "What is not to love?"

Peace, quiet, sea views, cosy, comfy beds, cracking shower, great base......the list is endless! The kitchen is small and could be better lit but ultimately this is not a deal breaker. We loved watching the sunrise over the harbour from our bed.

The lighting in the kitchen has been improved. Glad to hear you enjoyed watching the wonderful sunrises over Mounts Bay, hope to see you back some day! Property Owner

  • "Absolutely fantastic, home from home, everything about the cottage was perfect."

Beautiful bedding, beds very comfortable. Everything in the property, so we'll thought out, to make our stay trully amazing. The downside no parking was hard with my partner being disabled, however we managed and knowing we were going back to the amazing views, made it just a small problem. Highly recommend the lookout. We miss the beautiful view already.

  • "Parking is a problem, and the long walk up to The property,"

Sorry you had difficulties with the parking and walk to the property. The summary does advise the property is on a hill and that access is pedestrian only, I will review the text and see if that can be made clearer. We do offer reimbursement for parking at Sandy Cove which I timed to be a 4 minute walk up to the cottage (I am 55 years old) but recognise it may be a problem for some. Otherwise I trust you found the cottage comfortable and had a good week. Property Owner

  • "We loved staying at Lookout Cottage ."

The views are glorious and the cottage itself is stylish and well equipped . We particularly liked the attic bedroom and our granddaughter was thrilled with it. We got used to parking on Sandy Cove carpark as there is no parking with the cottage and there was always a space which was great. We found the buses very handy too as they were just at the bottom of the road. Lookout cottage is a great base for visiting Penzance , Mousehole, Minak Theatre, Sennen , the coastal path and other places around Lands End. We would definitely return to the cottage for another holiday in the future and really recommend it.

The cottage was very well equipped, very clean, the views even better than expected, and location great. We liked the way it was tucked away and yet accessible. 2 mins walk to the Fisherman’s Arms for drinks and great harbour views. St Michael’s Mount, Mousehole a ‘chocolate box’ village and Marazion all worth visiting. Great access for the coastal path too.

Thankyou so much to the owner for holding off on pets until our stay. I loved hearing the waves every time a window was opened or you opened the door. The pub within walking and fresh fish shops just a short walk. Views from the property were stunning. Recommend the little harbour cafe run by the the pastor. Outstanding coffee and toasted sandwiches. Thankyou so very much again Em

The property is in a great location with one of the bedrooms looking on to the sea, we managed to park the car each day but in the summer it would probably be best to pay for a car park. We used public transport - buses and trains and at the moment buses are £5 a day but there is also a local bus between Mousehole and Penzance and there is a £2.50 all day ticket for that bus or it is £2 for a single, worth getting the day ticket, train to St Ives is a must, great train ride with views

Great stay - only two things - I would invest in one of those little trolleys that campers use to move your stuff from the car to the house The bin wasn’t emptied when we were there - I don’t know if it needed to be in a specific place but there were no instructions other than it gets collected Tuesday night Otherwise lovely place really good facilities and best cooking stuff I’ve ever had in a cottage

Thank you for your suggestions and comments. We are very glad your enjoyed your stay in Lookout Cottage. Ref the bins, thanks for bringing this to my attention, it was in the right place and we will ensure collection is conducted as per the weekly set schedule. Property Owner

The owner went out of his way to ensure our stay was a pleasant one with car park permits, flowers, welcome packs etc. The cottage has a great view and Newlyn is a well positioned town to access many places in West Cornwall very easily. Brilliant beaches close by and some very nice restaurants/bars in Newlyn itself. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage.

  • "A wonderful stay in a beautiful cottage with incredible views over the sea and St Michaels Mount."

All of the facilities provided were perfect and there were a few extra welcome surprises! The beds are some of the comfiest we have ever slept on and the cottage has an overwhelming homely feel, which is lovely, when sheltering from the sometimes unpredictable weather in those parts. The parking situation is a little difficult but that definitely should not put anyone off. The provided parking permit means that you always have a back up, if there is no nearby, on street parking available. The information pack from the owner is extensive and when we did need help with anything, the housekeepers were extremely accommodating, polite and helpful. I would highly recommend a stay at the Lookout Cottage and i am sure any future guests would enjoy it as much as we did.

Nearby Penzance has a magnetic harbour as well as eateries with sea views, bars, art galleries, a bustling promenade, UK’s largest outdoor seawater art-deco style lido and geothermally heated pool (Jubilee Pool).

Whilst most of the south Cornish coast is within driving distance, just a short drive away is the town of Marazion, which is a popular spot for surfing and other water sports, as well as boat rides out to St Michael's Mount when the tide is out, or wait until the tide is in and take the cobbled causeway walk as you enjoy picturesque views of the medieval castle, a “House of the Dragon” filming location.

For those looking for a more action-packed time away, take a walk along the South West Coast Path or cycle the level Mousehole to Marazion cycle path, where you can see a wealth of wildlife and flora, including basking sharks, dolphins, grey seals, even humpback whales and blue fin tuna have been spotted in recent times!

About the location

NEWLYN

Penzance 1.2 miles; Marazion 6.6 miles; St Ives 8.9 miles.

Nestled next to Penzance, and although still a quaint town in its own right, Newlyn is actually the third largest fishing port in England, and an important Port of Refuge for all seafaring craft. This Cornish town is clustered around the harbour, with its historic 800 year old quay (the Mayflower actually left for America from this quay, not Plymouth) curling around a few small boats on the western side. Famous for the Newlyn school of Art and Newlyn Copper, the Cornwall Coastal Path passes through the town, as does the level Mousehole to Marazion cycle path. An abundance of wildlife and flora can be enjoyed along both, with basking sharks, dolphins and grey seals often seen. The Cornish coast is renowned for surfing, and Penwith offers some splendid beaches on which to enjoy this sport as well as surf fishing for sea bass. Mounts Bay also offers a wealth of opportunity for watersports enthusiasts as well as giving visitors an opportunity to relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings.
