  • "Stayed at this property a few times now, it is a very comfortable house with a very high standard of decoration throughout."

It is well laid out and well equipped. The location is perfect as it's less than 5 minutes from a beach or a shop but as its set back a little bit it is extremely quiet at night. Parking is excellent and the enclosed garden is cosy and private. There is literally nothing to dislike about the place.....

  • "This is the second time we have stayed here and will definately be coming back."

The property was clean and very well equipped. Less than a 5 minute walk to a variety of places to eat and drink and local super markets. At least 4 beaches within a 25 minute walk so spoilt for choice. Also parking for at least 2 cars which is always a bonus so close to the centre of Newquay. Hope to see you again soon 18 Ocean Heights!! Maggie and Mike

  • "A lovely house, well equipped and great quiet location."

The perfect base for our holiday. Short walks to the seafront, restaurants/pubs and Asda. Also only a short walk to the train station and bus stop, which was important for us as we don't drive, though there is plenty of off street parking in front of the house. Highly recommended, we had a wonderful holiday, thank you!

  • "Really great location which meant we could walk to most of the places."

Close to supermarkets and a short walk to both the beach and town centre. The house is amazing and I would recommend to anyone that wants to stay in Newquay. The only thing that caused us a problem was the rose bush at the side of the house, not great if you have a small child, who cut her face on it. I would certainly stay at this house again. The pictures do not do it justice, it is stunning. Thanks for an enjoyable holiday! :)

Very comfortable throughout with everything you need and more. The location is perfect as you can walk into town in 10 minutes or be surfing in 5. Parking is excellent too. Highly recommended!

It’s proximity to the town was excellent which meant we could just park the car up and walk everywhere. Highly recommend this property, just lovely!!!

  • "We very much enjoyed our stay in Newquay except for a strong unpleasant smell in the kitchen and downstairs toilet."

  • "Bad smell from downstairs toilet room."

Reported this and it was attended to straight away, but we could still smell the smell after. Apparently coming from the U bend in the sink. This smell lingered in kitchen and lounge area so not good. Hoover has no suction at all when in the upright position, this really needs to be changed, if you want the house to be kept tidy. You really need to put an attachment on the bath room wall for the shower head, so guests can have a proper shower and not all share the top floor shower, this iisn’t ideal please change it. Master bedroom deep draws would be useful, stand in wardrobe is ok but not great when you have a bad back to bend down. Outside hose head may need changing. Apart from the above the house is really good. Good position for what we like doing, body boarding, beaches, walking. This is our third stay with Sykes in Newquay along this block of houses., but first in no 18,

  • "The property was in a perfect location."

Beach was literally 2 mins walk (not including the walk down to the beach). The house itself was well stocked with cooking utensils which is a bonus. The only downside was that we felt it needed a deep clean. Alot of dust sitting on skirting boards, unit's, etc. Also the shower trap was full of hair so just needs abit of attention to the cleaning side. On the whole we had a fab time here and would definitely book again.

  • "We have just returned from a weeks holiday at 18 Ocean Heights."

We had a wonderful week including the weather. The house is very modern, light bright and very comfortable with everything we needed . The bedrooms were lovely and beds very comfortable. Lots of lovely pictures and flowers around the house. Thank you for helping our holiday being fantastic….A recommendation not a complaint an umberella in the garden would have let us have more time in the garden.

  • "We had a good stay and the property is generally good - well proportioned and laid out for a 3 generation family holiday."

The property looks better in real life than in its pictures. Beds were comfortable and good quality linens and towels. Top floor shower was good. The first floor bathroom needs the shower hose extending and the wall bracket raising so people can have a stand-up shower rather than having to kneel / sit to shower. This meant that 5 of us had to share one shower… No clothes drying rack was provided (for drying indoors on rainy days), though there was a washing line with 8 pegs (insufficient!) in the back garden. Living room furnishings only provide comfortable seating for 4 people, but it’s a 3 bed / 6 person house. This meant we couldn’t all comfortably sit together in the living room after dinner. Sofa footstool was broken on arrival and looks like it has been in this state for quite some time. I tried to report this to ensure it could be resolved, but it is apparent that Sykes don’t provide any email / chat / text contact method. You have to phone a number for the owner, which seemed inappropriate at the time this problem was found. Sykes should provide an email for current guests to use, or a chat facility like airbnb use which is much better to connect guests and hosts. The cheap vacuum provided is barely fit for purpose and it’s obvious that it’s only ok for hard floors and not appropriate for carpet cleaning. The bedroom carpets had a lot of previous guests hair stuck to them. You need to use a vacuum with a beater bar to clean these types of carpets regularly. While the clean was OK, a deep clean hasn’t been done for a while. If you move anything around or look inside drawers / cupboards, you will see they need wiping. For those like us who don’t know Newquay when they book, the house is at the more grotty end of town. A lot of the old seafront hotels are closed and awaiting demolition. The rest are tired and clearly cater to a special demographic. It’s about 20 mins walk to the harbour and over 30 mins walk to Fistral. The cost of the property was about the same as others in Newquay that were in much better locations - generally the challenge will be parking. This house has two private parking spaces in front. Other places in Newquay compete for scarce street parking or need you to move the car to paid parking which mounts up if you are staying for a week or more.

The house is new or gives that impression. Its near town, beach and the land train. Our party enjoyed our stay its the little details that make memories games to play and the cornish coffee are really nice small things but added to our enjoyment. All in all a brilliant week.

The property is beautifully decorated, we felt instantly at home and there was plenty of space for all of us, including a newborn baby with all the things we had to bring along for him! It's in a brilliant location to walk to Newquay Zoo, the beach and local shops/restaurants, meaning there's no need to move the car off the drive! We're looking forward to a return visit in the future!

  • "Great location in a quiet area of Newquay but still close to everything (a few minutes to the seafront and about 1km to the centre)."

The house is lovely, it's modern, fresh, spacious and stylish yet had a homely feel. Everything was spotlessly clean and had everything you could need. It's a great base to explore the area, being close to the coastal path, a great walk to Watergate Bay passing Lusty Glaze and Porth and also close to Fistral Beach and Pentire Headland. Recommend going to Fistral Beach bar for breakfast and to also watch the sun go down. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Cleanliness was top notch, couldn’t find even a spec of dust anywhere! Off road parking with enough space for 3 or 4 cars if needed. Will 100% book this house again when we return to Newquay.
