  • "We loved our stay in Padstow."

The upstairs conservatory with views over the estuary was the best place to relax. The house was well equipped and well decorated. We would stay there again.

  • "WOW!!!"

The location of this cottage is amazing, a hidden away treasure with great views. Our kids loved the secret passage ways to the shops. A short walk to the beach. The summerhouse was a bonus, great to relax in. Lovely garden, great cottage.....we really enjoyed our holiday in Padstow. Highly recommend this cottage.

  • "We love Mount Pleasant and this is our second visit - very much our style and aesthetic."

The location is second to none and the garden is the perfect sun trap - albeit the beach is so close too. The conservatory is the perfect chill out zone with stunning views.

  • "Very disappointed in this property."

Whilst it is a very good size, in an ideal location and well equipped, it was sadly lacking in comfort and cleanliness. The listing claimed that no pets were allowed however not long after arriving our allergies reacted to such an extent that it was very clear to us that pets had been present recently, especially dogs. It is also hard to believe that the couches could be made so grubby by people alone. An there are of course the tiny pet chairs!!! like i said disappointed. Whilst the upstairs was clean and tidy the furniture needs updating and replacing as do the carpets. The kitchen was grubby with the oven grimy with grease inside and out. Some of the cutlery and crockery were dirty/unwashed with food dried on them pots, to the extent that we didnt want to prepare and eat food in the house. It could have been clearer about the lack of parking - it was clear from the listing that the house did not have vehicle access but it claimed there was a car park close by. this was deceitful. High inaccurate and expensive.

Thank you for your feedback. If you contact us during your stay we would have been able to help immediately with any issues reported. We confirm no animals have been in the property and the property is pet free. The property is due to have a deep clean at the end of the season but the housekeeping team ensures a high level of cleanliness throughout the summer season. The property is listed not having a parking space and the car park is located nearby but it still require a walk to reach the property. For the price of your stay, the property is a Friday changeover and you booked a holiday across two weeks, which increased the overall rental. Property Owner

Perfectly located for Mayday & absolutely beautiful. Even the lack of parking didn't dampen our stay. The beds were comfortable, the garden lovely to sit in, & the view from the sun room stunning! Thank you so much. Xx

Lots of beaches in and around Padstow to walk or drive to. Everything you could want in the house - conservatory a benefit during the odd shower of rain and a bbq for relaxing during the evening. Highly recommend.

  • "We love Padstow and the Camel Estuary and return to the area year after year."

However, this October we were badly let down this year by Sykes Cottages and by the Owner of Mount Pleasant. We cannot recommend tMount Pleasant or Sykes Cottages. The standard of maintenance at Mount Pleasant is low. We arrived to find the cottage had no hot water. The area of damp in the boiler cupboard was evidence of a leak that has been going on a while. The first 3 days of our holiday were spent on the phone, liaising with the owner, with Customer Relations at Sykes and with the Plummer. We were able to have a wash on the Sunday by walking to the other side of the village to use the shower in a hotel. On the third day it was decided that the property needed a new boiler and the heating needed to be turned off too. Sykes informed us that they were unable to fulfill the booking and that we would have to vacate the property. The fourth day of our holiday was spent packing up, reloading the car, cleaning and tidying up the cottage and travelling elsewhere. We were moved to a rather gloomy, damp house in another part of Cornwall, where we had not chosen to spend our holiday (we had booked to be Padstow to celebrate our son's 18th). Needless to say we are pursuing compensation for our aborted holiday. However neither the owner nor Sykes are willing to take responsibility. We are currently still battling with unanswered emails, endless prevarication and passing the buck. We need Sykes management to step in and resolve this issue immediately.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback. We are sorry to hear that you feel badly let down. As you are aware, the boiler problems were out of the owner's control and once the owner was made aware of the problem, everything possible was done to rectify the situation. The heating was working, but as you had no hot water the owner booked you a hotel room so that you could shower in comfort. Unfortunately, the plumber subsequently advised that a new boiler was required, so we offered you the choice of a full refund, or to be re-housed in a different property. We hope that the gesture of good will that you have received to compensate you for these issues will go some way to mitigating your experience. Property Owner

  • "Excellent location, down a little path at the side of the house and you are in the town."

The house is very clean and comfortable. Bedding and towels spotless. Very calm and relaxing atmosphere in the house. Well stocked with glasses, plates etc, the only negative comments I would make is that some of the kitchen utensils need replacing, some of the pans, knives were a little rusty so had to scrub them before they were used. The central heating system was a little tempramental but saying this we had a fabulous time and would definitely return.

  • "We had the most wonderful holiday."

The house is perfectly located, being able to nip down the path in a few minutes into the heart of town was perfect. A good size garden to allow our little boy to play whilst we enjoyed the evening sun. The house is well equipped and very comfortable. We will certainly return.

The property

This handsome, peaceful, detached house is just 100 yards gentle stroll from Padstow's lively shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés and only 150 yards from the bustling harbour.

It commands wonderful views over the town to the Camel estuary and, remarkable as it may seem, is in a peacefully secluded spot in the heart of this rather special seaside town.

There's plenty of room for all the family to relax in the light, bright and sunlight-filled open plan living area with well-equipped kitchen, dining area, conservatory and sitting area with 'living flame' gas fire, all facing south for all day sun and views of the big garden.

Also on the ground floor, a very handy, large utility room with lots of room for boots, bicycles and surf boards and a cloakroom with WC and basin.

Upstairs, three bedrooms all with great views, a double leading through to a sunroom with comfy seating for drinking in those great views, a room with a double and a single bed, and a further room with a single and a child's cabin bed, plus a family bathroom.

Outside a big, wonderfully secluded garden with a BBQ, perfect for a spot of R&R after a day spent exploring this vibrant town and area.

Stroll down a short passageway to the town's interesting shops, bars and restaurants "it's Rick Stein's base" and catch the pedestrian ferry across to Rock for some fun on the water at the water sports centre and sailing school.

If you prefer a round of golf, there's an excellent course at St Enodoc.

This is a fabulous place for those that like the buzz of a lively town coupled with some quiet space to escape and relax after a day's fun and games.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
