  • "We had a good week at Longhouse bungalow in terms of its location."

It's really close to the shops but very quiet and peaceful. We walked down to Rock harbour and Porthilly cove several times and enjoyed its proximity to the estuary. Sadly, the bungalow was very musty which made it a difficult week for me as I do have lung problems and react to damp. I was unable to sleep in the double bedroom so used the twin room which was less bad. Returning home, everything has had to be washed twice to get rid of the smell. Even though there were plug in diffusers, these weren't enough to remove the overall problem. Otherwise, the bungalow was really well stocked with everything you might need, the kitchen was fantastic and the bathrooms were both very nice. All rooms a lovely size and very comfortable.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by these issues. Your comments have been passed on to the team here at John Bray Cornish Holidays. We are glad that you still managed to enjoy your visit despite these issues and would love to welcome you back to North Cornwall in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. • "We stayed here end September for a few day on a last minute break and were really pleased to have found Longhouse Bungalow."

The bungalow is lovely and spacious with comfy sofas and nice and warm. The kitchen is really well equipped for cooking. However, there is nothing provided at all, so pack salt and pepper, oil and condiments. The showers are very good and refreshing after a long day out, please note shower units not bath/showers. The bedding and towels are good quality. I found the mattress in the front double bedroom to be fabulous, but my husband didn't. Mattresses are a personal things I suppose. The bungalow is located down a short lane, the garden is great for star gazing, there is a field further down the lane too which we went to, to see the stars. The only improvement I would suggest is to address the damp/musty smell, which we thought might be from the carpet. Other visitors have noted this too. It wouldn't put me off staying here again though. I can see why people return to the bungalow, its a great property in a great location. We ate locally at the Pityme Inn pub and also at the Cracking Crab in Polzeath. The closest supermarket is at Wadebridge, locally there is a bakery, butcher and general store. A fish and chip shop at the end of the lane. From Rock there is a foot ferry service across to Padstow for £3 per person. Takes 4 minutes to cross. There are great walks around the area which we did a few of. There are two helpful books at the bungalow to help choose which to do. Tintagel Castle is not far and a good place to visit. Lots of steps to be aware of. I was suggested to look at John Bray by a friend and I'm definitely glad I asked her. I guess I owe her a bottle of wine.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It's great to hear that you had such a fabulous stay and had the perfect base to explore the local area from. Hopefully we can welcome you back again in the future. - John Bray Cornish Holidays on behalf of the owner. Property Owner

  • "We had a very comfortable stay Long House Bungalow."

I would have enjoyed seeing the garden in its heyday. We were so lucky with the weather and enjoyed several walks both side of the estuary and coming back to sit in the sun. The light went out one night in the bathroom but as soon as it was reported to John Bray the bulb was replaced within the hour. I also reported that both freezers were solid with ice. And we also discussed the garden particularly the BBQ seating area. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

  • "We loved Longhouse."

The location was great, shops round the corner and about a mile down to Rock beach. The beds were super comfy which can be hard to find in holiday homes. The bungalow was very spacious and we loved the enclosed garden for our dog. We arrived super lay at night but the instructions were very clear and we got into the property easily. We will definitely stay there again another time

  • "We found the bungalow to be spacious, light and clean."

It has plenty of facilities and the kitchen is well stocked. We enjoyed our stay and found it to be conveniently located for all our trips around Cornwall. The garden is large and secure so our dog was happy. However the garden would benefit from a really good tidy up as everything is quite overgrown and the paving is very uneven. I would also say that it's not really child friendly. Other small suggestions for improvement would be to add some shelves in the showers to hold our shower toiletries as I found it difficult to bend down as I had a couple of cracked ribs. The bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows and bedding. Generally it was a very nice place to stay and would definitely book again when we return to Cornwall.

  • "The holiday home we had chosen and paid for was incorrectly listed with you advertising a downstairs bedroom so when we arrived we had to change to this property due to a person in our party having mobility issues."

This was extremely stressful after a 6 hour drive to get here and really not a great start to our holiday - despite being assured by yourselves that this property would be ready for our arrival when we got there we found all the beds were unmade with no linen anywhere to be found and showers unusable as drains were all out - we again had to make more calls to get this rectified and ended up getting linen delivered later that night and showers made good but we had to make all the beds up ourselves- this property was not what we would of chosen had we not been put in this situation by your incorrect listing- We lost the location, the views, the nice new property with open plan living, log burner, luxury holiday living and instead had to go to a smelly, damp and cold property- we would like to hear back from you regarding some form of compensation to make up for your mistake.

  • "On arrival we were disappointed that the garden was littered with leaves and the outdoor furniture was not clean."

The house smelt strongly of damp as soon as we entered. There were grey mould spores on two double room walls and mould running along the ceilings and walls in the back bedroom and bathrooms and on tiles. We complained to the agents by phone on the Sunday and in person on Monday . We got no response so visited the agents again on tuesday . My husband was having breathing problems consequently and had to sleep on a mattress on the living room floor for the duration of our stay and we communicated this with the agents. It was agreed when the agents visited the property that there was a mould and damp problem . A dehumidifier was provided and the smell slowly improved during the rest of the week.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your stay. We're very sorry that you had to experience these issues during your visit but thank you for your patience and understanding whilst we tried to sort them for you. Your comments have been passed on to the team here at John Bray Cornish Holidays and to the owner. Following this, the shower leak has been fixed and the bungalow has been given a fresh decoration. A new ventilation system has been fitted to ensure better flow of air around the property and a new floor is being installed in the kitchen during January 24'. • "Disappointed as not cheap to hire so expected better as back bedroom has black mould coming through the wall."

Kitchen floor has crack along most of floor. Lounge blinds have a slat missing and one chewed. Bathroom has what looks like massive water leak above ceiling, ceiling looked very damp in front of shower and window. Front gate latch doesn’t work properly. Blue cushion on settee zip was broken. These all seem small things but when you are paying a lot of money for week you expect better. The bungalow itself was lovely and roomy and beds very comfortable.
