  • "Firstly, I want to make clear we are very fond of this property and have stayed here numerous times."

It makes it all the more disappointing that we have had such a negative experience this time. We stayed here last year and reported that the bread knife was missing from the knife block - it still hasn't been replaced! it's very frustrating to return from the excellent local bakers with a freshly baked loaf and have to hack it apart with an unsuitable knife. Our main problem was with the downstairs, the armchairs are looking very grubby and worn out. Apart from that, one of them is a potential health hazard, so much so we didn't use it at all, the front legs are 'wonky' and one of them looks on the point of collapse. There is a general air of neglect otherwise, the door handle to the main bedroom comes off and did so twice, two of the loo roll holders likewise, all for the sake of a small retaining screw. The grill tray in the oven was caked in the charred remains of previous meals. I had to scrub it with a scourer myself, surely this should be clean for each new customer? We won't be returning until we are sure these issues have been addressed, the attention to detail is sadly lacking.

A couple of minor points, plug socket outside downstairs toilet was loose from the wall, towel tail in downstairs toilet not secure, behind tv was very dirty, would say not cleaned from decorative work, hooks on the doors from lounge to garden do not reach the doors, a few small details to sort otherwise a really nice place to stay

  • "On the whole the cottage is absolutely fine but it is a shame that all the comments in previous reviews about loose doorknobs etc haven't been acted upon."

We arrived on a cool autumnal evening and were unable to get any heating going so a manual with instructions would be very helpful - including where to put the rubbish. Slightly irritating to have to take our own bed linen but I gather this isn't unusual for the area.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, please be assured that the previous comments have been noted and works have been carried out during the winter months to ensure the property is ready for the busy 2023 season. • "Lovely property in a great location but in need of a freshen up."

Coat of paint / fixing the loose coat hooks / door handles etc It had been cleaned superficially but could do with a deeper clean which we would have expected Hand towels and hand wash would have been nice too - the bedding policy is clear, but pretty much every other rental company provides bedding so a gesture like hand towels would be appreciated

Very moth eaten carpet in master bedroom. Mould in master en-suite. Very shabby paint work. The property has clearly had the most cursory wipe round and needs properly cleaning. Frankly it’s dirty and the rate for a week is not cheap.

  • "The property was quite disappointing."

It looked tired and very much in need of a makeover. We had several issues during our stay, the main one being the wifi not working because a bill had not been paid. That was resolved by John Bray with a temporary router after a couple of days. The place had not been cleaned too well before we arrived, with sand on the leather settees and dust everywhere. I had to flush the en suite toilet with a bucket several times which was not ideal. Numerous light bulbs were out in the living room, kitchen and en suite. Also the guttering needed repairing in several places. Whenever it rained at night the noise was quite intrusive. We have had many great holidays in John Bray properties over the years, but this was not one of them.

That the Internet modem and telephone were hidden inside the fuse box. - Where the rubbish bins were located - Where the central heating timer was located etc. And being picky and 70 years old and being used to a “45 inch TV at home the TV there is so very small but we have thought this about a lot of properties over the last 30 years that we have hired places through John Bray. The property

Lowenna Manor 10 occupies a prime location in the centre of Rock village on the North Cornwall coast.

This elegant, self-catering property has been converted into a three-storey terraced holiday house with a newly extended utility room; ideally placed on the ground floor enabling surfers, sailors, and sandy or wet children to shed their damp gear and jump straight into a hot shower.

A small private garden is enclosed and sheltered with attractive shrubs, roses, and rosemary, making Lowenna Manor 10 the ideal base for alfresco dining and socialising.

The master bedroom boasts a handsome king-size bed and a very smart en-suite shower room; there is also a twin bedroom with 3ft beds, and a further twin bedroom on the second floor, which is accessed from an open staircase with no door.

A practical, well-equipped kitchen with room to cook up some enticing local produce, that can easily be purchased from the nearby butcher, fishmonger, deli, or well-stocked spar shop, is on offer.

An open-plan light, bright lounge/dining room has lovely French doors leading out onto the small, paved patio area and garden - an oasis of calm; Lowenna Manor 10 also has shared use of the landscaped communal gardens and boules court.

The property is an ideal base for golfers, being situated right on the edge of the St Enodoc golf course with two courses on offer.

Walkers will enjoy exploring the pretty footpaths that meander alongside the fairways.

Families can take a picnic and walk down through the golf course to find somewhere to settle between Rock and Daymer Bay, after choosing one of the many paths through the sand dunes.

The peaceful cove of Porthilly is a lovely easy walk from Lowenna Manor 10 and is wonderful for bird watching, beachcombing, or swimming.

Escape to the Cornish coastline at Lowenna Manor 10.
