  • "The cottage is really pretty & unique, it is an old build, so you get to stay in a unique bit of history."

It has all the amenities you would need, although if you are disabled I would not recommend it, just as older buildings were not built with these things in mind. The car parking space is about 50m away from the house which is really nice to have as finding a parking space otherwise would be difficult. Penryns is a short bus ride away from Falmouth & is a great place to stay in Cornwall. It has everything you need within a short distance away shops, restaurants. The fish & chip shop is really good. It would be nice to have checkout maybe be an hour later - at around 10. Except for that, we really enjoyed our stay at this really unique cottage & would definitely visit again. Thank you for the gifts in the fridge, they were greatly appreciated

  • "We have recently enjoyed an excellent stay at Primrose Cottage."

The cottage was perfect for us and excellent value for money. Every room was comfortable, very clean (top marks to the house keeper) and whilst it was dog friendly there was no evidence of previous furry friends. Everything was considered. Comfortable beds, long area and great positioning near to the River and in easy reach of both Penryn Town and Falmouth. Really happy with the stay and will definitely consider again in the future.

Only downside for us is there was no real immediate green space for dog walking.

  • "Lovely cosy cottage that is well equipped, warm and clean."

Lots of homely touches so felt very welcoming during a very wet blustery week in Cornwall. The stairs are quite steep, so might be a consideration for anyone with mobility difficulties. The courtyard garden is paved and small but is fully enclosed for dogs that might try to escape. Great location for exploring Cornwall.

  • "Lovely cottage but because of positioning was a little cold for us especially in the evening, even though we had a very good weeks weather."

We are not into log burners so did not intend using it and we were going to rely on the radiators.Unfortunately, even though we followed the simple instructions in the welcome book, we couldn’t get them working. Nevertheless we enjoyed Penryn,Falmouth and further a field. The parking spot on the car park at end of street worked for us and the frequent bus service from the cottage to Falmouth was excellent.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback after your stay at Primrose Cottage. We are glad you liked the cottage and enjoyed your holiday in Cornwall. We are sorry that the heating was playing up. If you had contacted us we would have sorted it out for you. Also, there is an electric fan heater at the cottage which is sometimes handy. • "The cottage itself was clean, well equipped and all liaison with the owners was very positive, with small queries resolved very quickly."

We didn't realise when booking that the property is located down an alley way, so it is a little gloomy without the lights turned on downstairs (the listing states: quietly tucked away off the high street, so whilst somewhat accurate, not specific). As mentioned by another reviewer (and posted after we had booked), the houses either side of the entrance alley way are very run down; the door you pass in the alley way had lots of cigarette 'butts' on the floor outside, which gives a poor impression (not the owners fault).

  • "Primrose Cottage is a quaint little place and its location is great."

It is certainly well equipped no shortage of crockery etc. The double bed was reasonably comfortable but would much prefer a king size bed! (And no we are not obese!!!) Having the loo and bathroom downstairs is fine except if a mid-night visit is required the stairs are quite narrow and steep, which could be tricky in the dark. We found leaving the hallway light on solved this problem. The pre-visit info pack was very useful. The reserved parking is quite close to the property and was an absolute bonus as street parking in Penryn is pretty dire so it wasn't too much of an ordeal unloading the car.

  • "The cottage itself is lovely, with lots of attention to detail - and a fabulous log burner."

Nice, welcoming touches too. This was a winter break, but still the courtyard garden needed a lick of paint. The entrance alley, between 2 houses, was covered with branches throughout our stay making access not the easiest and the properties either side are very run down. These are not the fault or responsibility of the owners of the cottage of course but to be honest, gave a very poor first impression. Good parking nearby in the allocated bay. We won't be returning - although the cottage was nice - as the location, surrounds and town have seen better days. Of course lovely beaches etc a car ride away,

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We are so pleased you found Primrose Cottage so lovely and welcoming. You will be pleased to know the branch has now been removed. Property Owner

Communication and the information pack inside the cottage was good, however we weren't quite sure about the refuse/recycling instructions, we eventually worked out that we needed to use one bag (in the kitchen bin) for non-recycling and another bag (plenty in the cupboard under the sink) for recycling, then put them both in the green wheelie bin before we left. Hope that was correct! The courtyard garden is a real suntrap too. We really enjoyed our time at Primrose Cottage and if we're planning on visiting the area again we'd certainly be happy to book another stay.

  • "A friend and I spent a wonderful week in Primrose Cottage in Penryn."

The cottage was, as expected, charming, well equipped and clean and matched the photos on the website. The beds were very comfortable and were equipped with nice bedlinen. The hosts had provided a bottle of wine, milk, tea and coffee as a welcome gift and there was also a useful information pack. There was a slight issue on arrival and the hosts responded immediately when contacted. The neighbours, in the house to which the cottage is attached, were at times very noisy at night, which was especially difficult in the main bedroom. In an area where houses are terraced (frontage on the street ) with cottages attached at the back - down little alleys - it would be unrealistic to expect complete peace and quiet, but this was really quite disruptive some nights and spoilt some of the holiday experience. Whilst Penryn town is tiny, it is close to Falmouth, where you are spoilt for choice re shops, restaurants, cafes etc. Penryn does, however, have a couple of great fish and chips shops, a few pubs and a small supermarket conveniently located close to the cottage. The one niggle is the extremely difficult parking situation which resulted in us thinking twice about using the car in the evenings. The option is to use local taxis. However, parking is an issue throughout Cornwall and one that cannot be solved by the owners of the cottage. All in all, a very lovely week in a very pretty cottage located in such a beautiful part of the country.

Thank you for feedback, we are pleased to announce that we now have secured an allocated parking space in the local Quay Hill car park, only 70 yards from Primrose Cottage which is inclusive of a parking permit. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Primrose Cottage very much."

This is such a beautiful part of the country with lots to do and places to explore. The cottage was warm and cosy, with the log burner a real treat for us. The cottage was very dog friendly and the secure garden, although small, was just right. People walking past the cottage down the alley way was a bit unsettling for the dog who barked at everyone who went past. The sofa wasn't the most comfortable but it didn't really matter because we didn't spend much time on it anyway. The range of places to eat and drink within easy walking distance was great.

    Reviewed by Wendy3.8Oct 2018

  • "The cottage is really well appointed and thought out, including a couple of stair gates for confining a dog in one area or keeping it downstairs."

It's in a very good location – within easy reach of loads of places of interest and walking distance from Lidl and Sainsbury's, and Falmouth if you don't mind a bit more of a walk. The owners are extremely friendly, efficient and helpful, and we were very happy with every aspect of the rental process. However, if you have a dog who will get upset and bark when it hears people walking past, then this may be an issue since there is a pathway that passes very close to the cottage, so anybody walking or talking is audible. It really isn't busy (at all), but our pup did have a bit of a woof every time he did hear people, and a more neurotic dog would probably find it a bit stressful. This is true of any cottage in a town or village location of course, and is not intended as a criticism, just a comment on our experience that will probably mean I'll pick somewhere more rural next time to avoid nighttime barking.
