  • "Again 47 Bredon Court was both clean and in general comfortable."

The maintenance items as recorded during our previous stay, March 24 had been addressed. Just one minor point this time around and that is there is/was one ceiling light out at the patio end of the living room. Note to Sykes.. The March 24 issues whilst recorded to Sykes via e-mail where never acknowledge by same ! ( one being a fire/ heat alarm being disconnected/in bits ). Contact was made directly to the flats owner who action the repairs.

Thanks Pam will get that bulb sorted! Property Owner

  • "Superb facilities."

I have stayed in this apartment for a number of years and the standards are always extremely high which is why I always return. It is in an excellent location which enables me to walk to the supermarket, local restaurants, town and the bowling club. The only problem this year was the lack of visitors spaces which meant my guests had the main car park space and I had to find alternative car parking for the week.

  • "Third stay here, always lovely."

Clean, well equipped, spacious and great location. Beach 10 mins walk, town centre 5 mins. Nice views of the ocean and not overlooked so private most of the time. Will likely book again to stay here. Only minor things as I said on previous reviews, is the parking space is awkward right up against a wall, the garden is shared and has signs saying no dogs even though the property allows dogs, so bring either a long lead or as we did this time, a fold up fence to keep the dog just on your area. Listing needs to make this clearer as it says own private area (unless they updated it) but although private, it is not fenced off. It is a case of you could have issues if not prepared but once you have been you know what to expect and adjust.

Thanks for your comments Steve much appreciated- will review the wording of the listing re the garden area for dogs. Property Owner

  • "Not the 4 star property we thought we had booked."

The patio doors don’t lock without serious effort, these need the lock to be replaced. It became a problem to the extent that we just stopped opening them to save the stress of locking them afterwards not great in a ground floor apartment. A drawer in the master bedroom was full of someone else’s underwear! They weren’t mine, not nice to find and couldn’t use the drawer. The fridge was filthy I can send you photos of this. We did use the fridge because we needed to but this was a shocker and not at all acceptable. The shower holder in the main bathroom was broken which meant we had to hold the shower head to have a shower. The shower door handle in the en-suite needs to be replaced it’s worn away from use and let’s it down. It could get picky and put other things but these were the ones that annoyed us having spent £2000 for the week. This is the worst apt we have stayed in at Bredon Court. We stay in Newquay a lot and this is our favourite location. The worst thing if all is I emailed Sykes Cottages 3 days into the holiday and didn’t even get a response? Shocking!

When both of us go out, we have to communicate to each other to be able to get in property. Cannot even get through door, even when wife is in.

Sorry this impacted your stay Stephen. Did you try the intercom system to buzz each other in? Please let me know if it isn’t working? If we are fortunate enough to host you again you can use the key box to leave the one key - we have had issues in the past when leaving two for guests I’m afraid. Property Owner

The only negative is that cooking equipment is ready for a refresh, the majority of the non stock frying pans and pans are scratched beyond the point that they should be used. This is meant to be a helpful comment to provide feedback rather than a negative! Booked another visit already!

It was perfect for our needs. It is close to the beaches and town, and the parking was great. The only minor issue was that parking space is a bit tight if you have a camper van, but we got used to it.

  • "Lovely flat - clean, tidy, spacious good quality furnishings, everything you need provided."

Great location, lovely views. Really enjoyed the stay overall. Not related to the individual flat, but parking not ideal, tight allocated space next to wall with overgrown bushes scraping side of car, cannot load, unload or get passengers in and out of car while in the space. Car park gate keypad hard to see in dark. Got a £100 parking charge because permit had fallen on floor so watch out, any excuse to rob you, which is appalling considering the poor parking facilities they provide. If you have a dog, beware the garden has signs saying no dog walking or fouling, so not sure where the dog is supposed to go when needs to go out?

  • "47 Bredon Court is a comfortable, spacious, beautifully decorated and perfectly located property in Newquay."

All the local attractions, sights, restaurants, beaches and shops are literally within walking distance in every direction. Views to the rear of the property onto Fistral Beach are brilliant and afforded us the most amazing sunsets on several nights during our stay. The property was very generously equipped in every room, particularly the kitchen. The allocated parking is directly outside and the gated estate provided good peace of mind too, although some of the messaging about parking permits and use of the communal gardens around the estate felt a little on the heavy side but certainly not enough to affect our stay. Overall, 47 Bredon Court provided an excellent base for our stay from Scotland. We loved staying there and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and book again.

Mattress in the main bedroom had dip in the middle which spoilt sleep. Freezer badly needed defrosting as drawers very difficult to open. Shelf for milk in the fridge needed a good clean. Looked like sour milk had dried underneath. As has been previously mentioned the handle on the front door to the apartment needs attention. It is so loose it looks as if it could fall off every time you lock or open the door.

There is one area for improvement, and for me this is a quick fix, that is the master bedroom mattress which is in desperate need of changing; The bedframe has recently been renewed since our last visit but the mattress does not appear to have not been updated at the same time…..does not make and not so good for a good nights sleep!

  • "Spacious accommodation and location is brilliant."

Short walk to Fistral beach and also into the town centre. We parked our car and didn’t need to use it again. Additional comments: -The lock on the outer front door was ‘sticky’ and you had to really slam the door to shut and lock it. Failure to do that left the outer door open so anyone can walk in, so if safety is your thing, slam the door. -Similarly the lock on the inner door to the apartment was loose and I was worried it would break. So much so that I took a pic of it in case it did! -as noted the apartment is spacious and way bigger than I expected it to be. I loved this about it. The kitchen had everything in it you could need. It did overlook the golf course but note that the immediate view is of the golf club car park, not the course itself. - the car park space is small and awkward to park in. We just about managed to manoeuvre our 4 series into it with a lot of back and forth and me standing behind the car to make sure my partner didn’t hit the wall. Also, do not leave the car without the permit on the dash. One of the residents told us that there are car park attendants that hand out fines if there is no permit displayed

Spacious, clean and well equipped. Great views over the ocean from patio. 10 mins walk to beaches and main town centre. Will consider returning, had a great holiday here. Minor issues - the front door handles and locks a bit loose and tricky to use, both to this apartment and the main entrance to the block. Patio is private - as in not overlooked, but it is not fenced off, gardens are actually communal so dog could not be let out off lead, advert is misleading as I chose this over another place because it said private and I thought ideal for the dog. No key for kitchen and the twin bedroom windows, or the handles were just too stiff to open? Did not query this as was not that hot so managed with them shut all week. But overall great place.

My husband was very agitated for most of the week, so much that we came home on the Friday morning . you actually overlook the golf club car park rather than the golf coarse, the single beds very uncomfortable, pipes or extractor vent bang and rattle constantly, no hair dryer and no bedroom stool, and due to its situation it never gets the sun through the windows, and the out look from the bedroom windows was terrible in Herefordshire we would call it a barn a old one at that. It's a peaceful location and enjoyable walk to Fistral beach or town. Couple of areas to consider for improvement... The extractor fan in the ensuite didn't appear to be working, one of the mattresses in the twin room was a bit lumpy, and the vertical slatted blind in the Living Room was too long so couldn't be rotated to a ckosed position. Nothing major that should prevent anyone staying but areas for you to consider.
