  • "Parts of the property are in need of some TLC ie paintwork in bedrooms and hallway."

A gate for the steps next to the hot tub to stop kids and dogs escaping. A stairgate. One set of patio doors in kitchen area would not open. However its still a lovely property and ideally situated.

  • "Great property in the perfect location, we had a wonderful holiday."

I would recommend a gate for the driveway as the front garden / space is difficult to use with a dog or young children. Also the water pressure in the shower for the master bedroom en suite is too low. Minor details because everything else was perfect. Would love to have booked again next year but booked already.

  • "The house is lovely and we had a great week at Sandbanks."

We really appreciated the welcome basket with lots of local high quality treats. The house was spacious and plenty of room for our group of 11 (4 children). The location close to the beach was also a real positive. Despite all my best efforts and research, I wasn't made aware we were right across from the main car park which was noisy some of the evenings and a bit of an eye sore. There were some issues we had with the home that overall we felt did not elevate our stay to the level we expected given the cost of staying at the property. The issues were as follows: 1. Each en suite had a fault with the shower/bath/toilet. In the primary bedroom it was very difficult to manage the water temperature and my husband and I scalded ourselves on occasion trying to use it. We gave up in the end and had to use one of the other showers. 2. In the bathroom on the mid level the bath tap handles are missing. Again, because the water was scalding hot when trying to operate the hot tap, one of our guests (78 years old) burnt her fingers. If this tap is to be used, you cannt touch it with your bare hands and this again is dangerous for people. 3. In the bathrooms on the lower floor - the one on the RHS when standing at the kitchen door entrance - the shower dripped constantly which was really intrusive for the guests staying in this room trying to get a good night's sleep. 4. In the other down stairs bathroom in the 2nd lower bedroom there was also an issue with the toilet. The valve in the cistern was broken, the cistern never filled up because of the broken valve and so it filled all day and night which made a constant noise. 5. In relation to the beds and comfort- the only bed that was comfortable was in the primary room. We had to swap mattresses around on the mid level and give the children the worst mattresses because the adult guests were so uncomfortable - the mattresses clearly had there day and were very stained as was uncovered when we had to swap them out. 6. The tumble dryer doesn't work properly and didn't dry our clothes fully on any occasion. There were some very wet days when we really needed to use the dryer because we had 11 guests and there was no linen or towel change throughout the week. Given that we paid almost £7,000 for the week, it was disappointing that the above issues were encountered throughout our stay. We really enjoyed the hot tub, sauna, bbq and games provided in the home. Overall it's a great property and if the above issues are addressed it will be a wonderful stay for any future guests.

He duly fitted an extra rail and we can't thank him enough! So kind.

We were a party of 10 - 6 adults and 4 children and the twin bedded rooms on the middle floor worked perfectly for the little ones with their parents safely tucked away downstairs and grandparents in the 1st floor feature main bedroom We used hot tub, sauna and barbecue on a number of occasions - particularly after a long day on the beach when the kids were bit chilly after many hours body boarding. House was well equipped throughout with coffee and ice machine + 2 fridge freezers to cater for the chilled drinks! Everything clean, well maintained and finished to a high standard. • "We had a fantastic week at Sandbanks."

We were a group of 6 adults 3 dogs and there was plenty of room for us all. The 2 fridge freezers was a great idea as we'd have struggled to fit everything in the one with the beer and prosecco we needed to keep cool! The ice machine was a nice surprise! The house was spotless when we arrived (thank you Kirsty) and there was plenty of cleaning products/equipment to keep it that way. The hot tub was used everyday by us all and was greatly appreciated after days out to Penzance, Newquay, St Ives, Minack Theatre, Truro, Mousehole, Porthleven, Hayle etc. The house was perfectly situated by the beach and for sightseeing too. The only little quibble I had was that there was no shower gels or shampoos in the bathrooms, only liquid hand gels. This wasn't a problem for us as we had our own but some people may expect it to be there. All in all we had a fabulous time at Sandbanks and loved Cornwall. Thank you.

The kitchen is well equipped. The housekeeper was very good letting us know that we could get into the house early and giving us information. Our only observation is that there are not enough chairs for a large family to all sit together comfortably. There were seven of us staying and it was fine, but in the living room it would be nice to have some more chairs so we aren't all sat in a row. Also some instructions for the TV, none of us have Sky so we never really worked out how to watch the TV properly. We would recommend the house to others, the hot tub was very nice to have as an extra facility.

  • "As the property accommodates 10 then it would be more comfortable if there was enough seating for all in the living room."

We did bring a couple of floor cushions with us (after reading the reviews commenting about seating) but it would have been preferable if some didn’t have to sit on the floor to watch a movie together. Also a bigger table that actually seats 10 would have been nicer as 2 had to take turns sitting at the worktop with no leg space or sit with their backs to the rest of the party to eat meals together. Great to have so much fridge space. Providing a second fridge freezer was a brilliant idea as there is no way we could have fitted in the food we bought in just the one. Beds were very comfortable, towels lovely. The large walk-in wardrobe in the master bedroom was like a small room. Hot tub was a hit and the front was a heat trap when the sun was out, which was lovely. On some days though there were builders working at height on the house next door, so felt a bit overlooked. Would have been nice to have been warned about this. There were no extra bin bags so had to buy some. Having a good working vacuum cleaner was great. Overall a great property. Proximity to beach and a lovely ice cream shop and cafe was a boon. We will book again.

Owner couldn't have been more helpful. There was an issue with the drive (completely out of their control) and they were so proactive in getting it resolved. Kitchen space is a great communal space and is very well equipped. We had a lovely meal in there for New Year. Beach so close and great for letting the dogs run. Watching an amazing kite surfer and would love to visit in summer. Master bedroom with balcony is fab and lovely to sit out, even though cold. Only v minor criticism was we struggled a bit with patio doors sliding but i think this is possibly just due to the sea air.

The hot tub was amazing and enjoyed by all. To assist with feedback- the only thing I would say is that if there are three generations staying, (like us) the house would benefit from some comfortable high back armchairs in the kitchen seating area - it was great to be cooking etc in the kitchen with family in the lounge area chatting, playing games etc but limited comfortable seating and the lounge also needed a couple of armchairs/ small settee to accommodate family.

Immaculately clean and pretty well equipped. The hot tub was a hit too. For a property of this size and for the price paid it lacked seating on the BBQ decking (only 6 seats on quite a small decking). The sofas weren’t very comfortable, the lounge would benefit from a couple of arm chairs. The towels were quite small, a Bath sheet for each person would have been helpful. The beds weren’t particularly comfortable, the mattresses would benefit from an additional topper. We had a brilliant holiday and would definitely book this property again.

The cesspit must of been due to be emptied and smelt terrible so we couldn't use the back garden during our stay. The fridge/freezer also broke and we lost alot of food that we had prepared for our weeks holiday(still not been compensated) aswell as the times we had to go back and replace the food which was a nuisance. The fridge/freezer is also not big enough for larger groups so don't by alot and if you want drinks cooled that's difficult. Apart from a few things it is a lovely house and we enjoyed our stay. If you have a child or a dog that runs off it would be hard as it is all open to a road.

  • "My family had the most amazing experience at sandbanks I cannot recommend this place enough."

Both the owner and housekeeper were in touch throughout my stay. Claire the owner has been so thoughtful and thorough in ensuring that families have a 5* experience. Everything from the time we entered to the day we left exceeded our expectations. The big and little kids were catered for with a huge selection of games, dvds, PlayStation to keep them busy when we were not out exploring the beautiful cornish landscapes. The welcome pack with Cornish delights was a great added touch and again so thoughtful of Claire, as we don't drink alcohol we left this for the cleaning team but thoroughly enjoyed the fudge and teas and other treats. Sandbanks was full of high end decor, there was art, contemporary and traditional furniture, the walls were clean, white, airy and the blinds, and balconies made the whole house feel luxurious and sophisticated. The highlight of the trip was having the beach on our doorstep and the hot tub. Having a side entrance to the property and taps etc meant we were able to hose off any sand before entering the property. I felt super lucky and privileged with the honour of knowing I was the first hire and made the best attempt to leave everything as immaculate as I found it. On that note there walls were freshly painted, everything looked like new including the carpets/rug and we respected the place by removing our shoes in the hallway and wearing sliders/slippers downstairs. It's hard not too fall in love with sandbanks as a family we laughed, ate, & prayed together in this unique space we called home for a week. The utility room made with the washing machine and dryer made the stay ever so comfortable. I must say everything from the cutlery, crockery, serving dishes, bbq, bedding, etc was all brand new and unused, this was an added bonus to say the least. I need to ask Claire for the brand of frying pans which were excellent for the pancakes I made and the cute pan stands. There was an abundance of serving dishes so each meal we prepared looked awesome served up. Claire had left an array of other kitchenware like kitchen scales and an orange juicer so pancakes and fresh orange juice were on the menu on one of our stays. There were even baking trays if you fancied making cake but we didn't have time for this. The microwave and oven were great as well as a standard size fridge freezer. Claire left some washing liquid, clothes tabs, sponges and other cleaning products especially suitable for her worktop which worked wonders. We really did feel at home at sandbanks and the dining room area was the main hub where we could all spread out and enjoy playing games into the night while snacking, we even got to watch England play the final in the Euros that was a tense evening!!! My other highlight was the crystal clear skies we got night after night in the back garden, we could literally see the milky way across the sky, it was spectacular and magical. The master bedroom had a beautifully crafted baby cot and a walk in wardrobe! There were 5 bathrooms and this was more than enough for all, The towels provided were beautifully clean and fresh scented. Spare bedding and pillows were available in the store cupboard. An iron, ironing board, mop, hoover brush etc were all in the boiler cupboard. Every tiny detail including a manual and guide for those staying at sandbanks to explore the area were provided. A company at the Praa beach does surfing and coasteering which we didn't get a chance to do this, we were there everyday almost and did not get bored of the beach at all, on the far right there are coves and rocks to explore too! We did however use jolly Rogers taxi company as per the book and they were really friendly and reasonably priced. In terms of visiting tourist places Sandbanks was ideally located, was 25 minutes to Kynance Cove, 35 minutes to Porthcurno Beach/lands End an additional 10 minutes while your there might aswel! We also did a coastal walk from Praa Sands to Prussia Cove which was amazing. Porthleven is not far and the boys did a fishing trip. St Micheals Mount was 15 minutes away and st ives app 30 minutes. All In all a great stay, great housekeepers, great host and a beautiful home in an idyllic location.

PRAA SANDS

Marazion 4.5 miles ; Helston 6 miles ; Porthleven 5 miles

The village of Praa Sands sits on the south coast in between Helston and Marazion. Praa Sands is known for its mile-long sandy beach and excellent surfing conditions. There is a bar/restaurant overlooking the beach – the perfect spot for lunch with a view or sunset drinks. Praa Sands is also home to a Golf and Country Club, from where the most wonderful sea vista can be enjoyed whilst you play. Just inland from the beach is Pengersick Castle, the tower of which dates back to the 16th century. It is said that Pengersick is haunted, and that the ghost of a monk has been seen wandering the grounds! The house at Pengersick is rumoured to be the birth place of John Carter, the self styled King of Prussia and a tunnel which leads from the house to the beach was apparently once used by smugglers. There are supermarkets and other retail stores in Penzance (8 miles) and Helston (6 miles).
