  • "The property has great accommodation and location is great for accessing beaches and local shops."

This was our second visit, as we enjoyed so much last time, however, this year we were really disappointed with; cleanliness, maintenance and lack of even a few tea bags and a milk, on arrival. We messaged Cornish Cottages, but no response, so frustrating all round.

  • "We visited in March 2024 for a week."

The area was lovely and quiet as out of season, the cottage is in an ideal location and we was able to walk to two nearby beaches. The Oyster Catcher just a 5 minute walk away is really nice, they serve great food and the staff were really friendly. We absolutely loved our week in Cornwall and visited lots of places, we would love to return to Trebetherick, but would not book this cottage again. The cottage is a good size and gets plenty of light, but it is not comfy or cosy for a holiday stay. The biggest disappointment for us was the sofa in the main living/kitchen area, it was so uncomfy to the point we started going to bed early at 8pm to just try and be comfy in the bedroom on an evening, after a long day exploring all you want to do on an evening is relax, not here, we even tried padding it out with quilts from the beds we weren't using. To simply put it the sofa desperately needs replacing. The TV in the living/kitchen area is really small, you just don't get that living room vibe here. The second smaller living room has a large TV and a slightly better sofa, but it is full of stains and generally just felt dirty, again we put a quilt over it to try and make it feel more relaxing, but this room was full of webs and spiders. The floors were dirty throughout the cottage, we kept slippers on at all times. Things like the cutlery drawer were really dirty and full of bits etc. If you have any young children consider that they will be sleeping downstairs whilst you are upstairs at the other side of the cottage, with long corridors/rooms between them and the main bedroom - there is a large distance between the main upstairs ensuite bedroom and the two bedrooms downstairs, both being right next to main doors leading outside. The cottage could be really lovely, but unfortunately it is not getting the maintenance it needs to make it a comfortable holiday cottage.

  • "Very comfortable and spacious although there was only two of us!"

We found that the TV room wasn't very comfortable or convenient as all the facilities are in the kitchen so it made more sense for us to move the TV into the lounge as the lounge TV is far too small. It would be nice to have a TV in the bedroom as well. The location is perfect and very quiet for the coast path and local beaches. The bungalow could do with a thorough clean as some areas are a bit grubby, window sills and skirting boards etc.

  • "We had a super stay thank you."

Beds very comfortable...super cooking equipment and facilities...when my shower wasn't working it was fixed within a few hours. The only thing which disturbed our stay was the noise from the landscaping business behind the cottage. They seemed to throw large items into their truck early in the morning which woke us all up before we wanted to.

  • "Bolenowe is in a fantastic location, 10 minutes walk to Polzeath and 15 minutes walk to Daymer Bay."

Plenty big enough for six adults and well equipped. There was a small outside area to sit in and plenty of places to dry wetsuits etc. We had a fantastic weeks holiday here and can highly recommend it.

  • "Lovely cottage."

Roomy and bright. Nice sunny spaces around the cottage. Short but steep walk down to the beach.

  • "Lovely home with plenty of space for myself and children."

Great facilities too. Would i rebook, yes. If I’m going to be picky I would prefer a blackout blind in the main bedroom but regardless of this I throughly enjoyed our stay

  • "We loved our stay at Bolenowe, a lovely, clean, warm & seaside feel cottage."

The playroom was a hit with the kids (& we all enjoyed having family film nights in there!). Super comfy beds, perfect size for a family of four, great amenities & close to beautiful cliff top walks and nice walk down Polzeath beach too. Will definitely return.

  • "Great location."

Close to fantastic beach and surf! Steep hill makes it difficult for those with mobility issues to walk to and from. Friendly pub with entertainment and Sky Sports within 5 minutes walk.

  • "Slightly didsapointed in the cottage as it was advertised as a family home."

There was no bathtub so we couldn’t bathe our toddler. It could do with a thorough clean - sticky floors, thick dust in TV room, musty smell in downstairs back bedroom. Blind wasn’t working in main bedroom which left room hot and bright! WiFi kept cutting out all the time. A great location though, good sized cottage and very well equipped- apart from not having a bath tub!

Many thanks for your feedback. We do not advertise a bath at the property however we have now placed a baby bath there for guests with a baby. The property has received a 'deep clean' since your feedback and the wifi problem in the area during your stay was an issue with 'Open Reach' which has now been rectified. We hope that you will visit us again soon. Property Owner

About the location

POLZEATH

Wadebridge 7.5 miles; Padstow 16 miles.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.
