The decor is lovely and it was spotlessly clean. The car park space at the front of the cottage is a bonus and the little garden (slightly uphill to the rear) is another lovely feature. Mary, the owner was very helpful and left a bottle of wine in the fridge - much needed after a long journey! I managed to visit The Minack Theatre (booking essential) which is spectacular if you don’t mind another 2 hours of driving. If you are looking for a cosy place in the heart of the village then this is it.

  • "This is an excellent property, well maintained, well loved and spotlesslessly clean, up a short but not too strenuous walk from the village (literally only a few yards), has it’s own parking space right outside the door, a fantastic plus in Port Isaac."

The Keep Pot has everything you need for a great holiday for two, and Port Isaac is a wonderful location, especially if you are a Doc Martin or Fishermen’s Friends fan which were filmed in the village. We quickly discovered a really good Co-op (has a sea view on the way back!) within walking distance but further up a steep hill on the main road, but it has a carpark if you prefer to drive up or need a lot of shopping. Everything in Port Isaac village is easily walkable, including several excellent restaurants and great pubs, we enjoyed many of them such The Golden Lion, The Old School House, The Mote and also The Angry Anchovy up on New Road which serves great pizza. There are also several fine dining restaurants, Nathan Outlaw’s up on New Road and his Fish restaurant opposite the Platt, but as we were (supposedly) self catering we also bought great shellfish and crab opposite The Slipway to eat back at The Keep Pot, paired with fabulous artisan bread from nearby bread shop and a lovely bottle of wine left by the very thoughtful owner. If you’re lucky enough to be at The Keep Pot in summer, a short walk onto the coastal path along the harbour around 9.30 pm (sunset while we were there) will reward you with one of the loveluest sunsets ever. Loved it here, can’t wait to go back.

Parking place is an absolute bonus for Port Isaac! The house was fully equipped and spotlessly clean and the rear garden is a nice quiet place for a glass of wine. Nearly all the comments in the guest book are from people who have been to the house several times before and it's not hard to understand why.

  • "The booking process and the accuracy of the accommodation listing were perfect."

But the property itself is something very special! A great home from home for us, with every facility catered for, every little thing provided for, and the wonderful thoughtful touches by the owner made the Keep Pot and our stay simply wonderful. A lovely "welcome pack" when we arrived after a long day's drive in traffic made our arrival so welcoming, and the many little touches, such as the basket of DVDs (very useful on wet afternoons!) meant we would stay here again in a flash, and would recommend the Keep Pot to everyone. Yes the mobile signal and lack of WiFi could be inconvenient, but I can confirm that, as in the "Fisherman's Friends" film, there is great reception at the end of the sea wall! A fabulous stay, despite inclement weather (it is Cornwall!), and great value for money. Excellent thank you!

There were so many touches to make the place unique. The only way to improve it would be a bigger bed as there is definitely room for it.

  • "Overall a very highly rated experience."

The only real area for improvement is the need for wi-fi or at least a decent 4G service. I suspect that both of these are beyond the owner's control, and indeed that a lot of visitors would be happy not to have them

  • "We absolutely loved staying in The Keep Pot."

It is by far the nicest cottage we have ever stayed in and we are desperate to return! It has everything you could possibly need while on holiday and staying right in Port Isaac, with parking, was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed the short and easy walk to Port Gaverne, as well as making the most of the various places to eat near to the cottage. The little sitting room upstairs was perfect for reading and looking out over the rooftops. The owner made sure that we were settled in and extra little touches made our holiday really special. The only niggle would be that the bed could do with a new mattress. Absolutely recommend this cottage.

Great care had been taken to help guests work the TV, Satellite tuner, DVD player, kitchen and bathroom equipment and the storage radiators. There were boxes of games, jigsaws, recent DVDs and some music CDs etc for relaxation. Pots of flowers welcomed us to the property and there was also a private garden area behind the property, though other than an initial exploration, it wasn't warm enough to enjoy that. It was clear that the owner wanted everything to go well for the holiday, with information on local walks, maps and leaflets for sight-seeing. Port Isaac is a charming unspoilt fishing village, and much as I remember from my first visit 60 years ago, even with the 'Doc Martin' connection of recent years.

The property

The Keep Pot is a 19th century, end of terrace, former fisherman's cottage set into the hillside overlooking the picturesque fishing village of Port Isaac.

The cottage has been completely renovated and refurbished to create a stylish holiday retreat for two.

From the first floor windows, there are glimpses of the sea, which are echoed inside in the Keep Pot's blue and white decor.

A wood burning stove creates a warm and ambient atmosphere in the spacious lounge whilst the adjacent kitchen/diner is smart and well equipped.

On the first floor there a small snug, where you can read quietly in a comfy chair.

A private parking space for one car is tucked at the front of the cottage, together with a small patio seating area.

Accessed via a small lane at the rear of the cottage is a small decked area with a table and chairs, and a further garden area with a shed, ideal for drying wet suits or storing bicycles.

The Keep Pot is the perfect spot to simply lock up the car and enjoy all that this enchanting village has to offer on foot.

The Coast Path is a mere 75 yards away and the nearby narrow streets lead you down through the village with its many pubs, cafes and shops to the fishing harbour below.
