  • "We had an amazing stay at Dale Cottage."

Tracey, the property manager, is wonderful. The cottage is centrally located in the village, within easy walking distance to two fantastic pubs and just a short stroll down the hill to the beach. Though you’re provided with two parking passes for the village hall car park (which is up a hill), we found ample parking around the village and side streets, so we didn’t need to use it at all. The cottage itself exceeded our expectations—it’s spacious and well-equipped, much more impressive than the photos suggest. Everything about the cottage and its location was perfect.

  • "Loved the property."

However the garden is very cramped with a table that is too big. And we never found the light switch for the outside. Everyone but me found the beds great. But I thought they were far too soft and not supportive. Other than that, fantastic. Thank you.

  • "Had a lovely week in beautiful Crantock, staying in Dale cottage."

The cottage provided a perfect base to walk down to the fabulous beach and coastal walks in the area. The cottage was probably the best equipped holiday home you could have, with every utensil available in the huge kitchen. The bedrooms were also clean, cosy and comfortable. The welcome pack was very much appreciated after a long drive too. Only 2 things to suggest to make it perfect; a shelf in the en-suite to hold toiletries etc and pillows were a little hard and flat, so maybe need replacing. Otherwise loved it and hope to return again.

A couple of things I’d suggest for improvement; Key safe was really stiff and hard to open, thankfully my son managed to open for me. Back door key again a bit stiff in lock. The cottage info booklet I only found on the last day, maybe leave with passes in tray. We would come back to Dale cottage and really enjoyed our holiday!

  • "The property is in a lovely position."

The contact with the owner was good. However we feel the property is ready for some overall maintenance and refurbishment. The 2nd floor bathroom was in great condition but the bathroom on the middle floor not so. The lighting on the steps don’t work so in the dark and when wet can be dangerous.

  • "We had a lovely stay in the cottage."

We have previously stayed in the same cottage a few years ago.. If I’m honest, if it was not in the position it is (central in the village and walking distance of the beach) I’m not sure we would re-book. All furnishings are the same as they previously were and are therefore looking tired (carpets, sofa, cushions). The kitchen sink and surround also needs attention. The cleanliness I put as a smiley face as it was good on the whole, however sandy under the lounge furniture- the only reason I noticed this was because we dropped a dice on the floor! Also, in previous cottages we’ve stayed in they’ve left enough dishwasher tablets for the stay. We had 5 which naturally wasn’t enough for 4 of us for a week! We don’t own a dishwasher at home and so wasn’t happy about having to buy tablets considering the price we paid for the cottage. Having said all this, we really did have a lovely week and absolutely love Crantock. It’s been a family holiday for over 20 years and our grown up children still come with us.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Dale Cottage, the house was beautiful and in perfect location for a family of teenagers to be able to walk down to the beach without the trauma of having to get everyone into a car and drive to a beach!"

It was a lovely touch to find a welcome pack with a bottle of Prosecco, chocolate, biscuits, tea and coffee just what was needed after an 8 hour car journey. I would definitely recommend Dale cottage and if it was not already booked up I would most certainly book again!

  • "We loved our stay at Dale cottage."

It is well located within Crantock, with easy access to the shops and beach. The side access is great for when you come back with sandy body boards and a wet dog. (We had no issues with the neighbours who were lovely. The gate has a bolt on the inside which you can pull across so your dog can’t escape if someone tries opening the gate from the outside). Although there is a hose by the back door we would have welcomed a sink in the outhouse to wash wetsuits in (maybe this can be added for 2023?) the garden is private and safe and our dog loved it (as did we). The road out the front is generally quiet although on a really nice day the traffic can back up from the beach car park. The front gate is fab for keeping pets and children safe till the adults are all set to go on these occasions. The cottage was clean and tidy and we had everything we needed for our stay. Crantock is great and the surf school and local coastal walks along the coastal path and the river are a real gem. We’ve booked 2 weeks again in Dale cottage for next year. Think we’ve found our perfect spot and we can’t wait to be back.

  • "Overall a lovely cottage."

Beds comfortable & well equipped. Cleanliness was Ok but needed to be more thorough with things left from previous occupiers under the bed, The real let down was finding that there was a right of access from neighbouring property who left the gate open between the properties and the front of gate of Dale Cottage, This meant our dog could escape onto the street and anyone could walk into the garden off the street if the neighbours didn't lock the gate. It did put a negative and added to stress during the week and we had to deal with the neighbour who wasn't particularly pleasant or accommodating. We wouldn't have booked it, if we had known about it, having left a domestic 9 month boundary challenge. The owner and agent said they were unaware of the right of access but were prompt in clarifying the situation. This information needs to be added to the cottage description so people have a choice and interesting that the information says to lock the outside bin but nothing about the gate.. A well located cottage with a minute walk to pubs and opposite a bus stop.

  • "We managed to get in early, 4pm, to a very clean and tidy cottage."

Thank you for the lovely welcome pack, (prosecco, ground coffee, tea bags, biscuits, milk, chocolate and dog biscuits). The cottage had loads of children’s games, books, and beach toys, plus a bbq. The beds were comfy and towels were huge and soft. We made use of the log burner one evening as it was cold. This is the second time we’ve visited this cottage as friends used it several years ago. It has the perfect location for Crantock beach. We hired wet suits from Pirates Perch Surf hire, 50m up the road, and can highly recommend them, considerably cheaper than from those at the beach car park. A great holiday in Crantock, thank you.

The cottage was great, very well equipped, decor lovely, very clean, thank you for the welcome bubbles, biscuits etc a lovely surprise! Two parking places at village hall, although we did manage to park over the road a few times (locals did tell us it was usually ok to park there this time of year) a stones throw from two pubs and another eatery, amazing bus service, convenient shop! Brilliant walks. Didn’t want to come home!

Never been disappointed. Location is perfect for travelling around Cornwall or a simple beach holiday, with Crantock beach about half a mile walk The cottage contains everything and more you require for a perfect holiday We take our two spaniels on ‘there holiday’ and they love it Plenty of walks in the area across sand dunes through woods fields and quiet country lanes The log burners are wonderful in winter making the cottage really cosy Smart Tv great new addition and it was nice to have the books and games back. And the goody bag with local items is always welcome. We are already looking to book for later in the year. Thank you Dale Cottage for another perfect Holiday

  • "What a fabulous cottage in a stunning location!"

!!! We can't recommend Dale Cottage enough. It is packed full of everything you need for a fabulous break, including windbreaks, bodyboards and those all important buckets and spades. The kitchen is well equipped with everything that you could possibly need, the bedrooms are bright and fresh and the showers are amazing!!! The location is perfect and literally a 1 minute walk to the two pubs (and the food is well worth visiting for) as well as the Jam Kitchen. The beach is easy to get to although for the less mobile, the walk back up the hill could be a challenge. If you are looking for a perfect Cornish getaway in an ideal location to explore and relax then this place is just perfect. We will 100% be back. Thank you Tracey!!!

  • "We had a fantastic holiday over New Year in this super little cottage."

The Christmas tree and the welcome basket were a lovely touch. The cottage is perhaps a little cosier than represented on the website but we had read previous feedback and were prepared for that - for a family of 4 it was perfect. It is beautifully decorated and fitted out and the beds were very comfortable. We might suggest that for winter guests a doormat inside the front door or perhaps some external bench for taking off muddy walking boots might be useful. We were also a little surprised that there were no dishwasher tablets. Other than those very minor points, it's a gem of a cottage, couldn't be better located, and was a lovely place to stay.

  • "Dale Cottage was probably one of the best holiday cottages we’ve stayed in."

The location - walking distance to the beach, pub, great pizza restaurant and village shop - was excellent. The cottage itself felt immediately homely with tasteful and welcoming decor throughout. We remarked on the comfort of the beds and the well-equipped kitchen, not to mention the private sunny garden. Parking, also, which is difficult in the village was well catered for via a pair of permits for the village hall car park. Always good to know that there’s a space for your car on return from a day out. The whole package really was superb, thank you. Not a complaint but if you’re asking for rounded feedback, there are a couple of things to note. Firstly it was very hard to contact the housekeeper, both before the holiday period to find out the entry arrangements (I even called your offices to check we had the correct number), and also on our day of arrival when we realised we’d mistakenly left home without the key code. In spite of regularly trying to contact Tracey from mid morning, we eventually had to call your offices at five standing outside the cottage in the rain to gain access. I appreciate that mobile coverage is patchy in the area but it would be better if the contact arrangements were more reliable? Secondly, perhaps because of Covid, we couldn’t find a manual. Not a big problem but we were stumped on what to do with rubbish and recycling. We found the key to the locked rubbish bin half way through, but had no idea what to do with recyclables in spite of having colour coded bin bags in the kitchen bin. We noticed recycling boxes outside other properties but couldn’t find one for Dale Cottage. Sorry planet - we ended up just bundling the recycling bag into the general bin! Once again, this is by no means meant as a grumble, just a heads up to help with future bookings. We had a truly memorable stay in this exceptional cottage. Thanks to Tracey, even though we never spoke, the house was immaculate.
